I totally enjoyed my stay at Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kagoshima! The room was fantastic. I had a great view of the ferris wheel and it was spacious enough for a bath tub. Perfect for a soak after walking around all day. The staff at the breakfast buffet were extremely observant and friendly. They recognised me each morning and would greet me so excitedly. It made me feel so welcome. The buffet variety does not vary too much but that also gives you the chance to try certain dishes again and again. The location of the hotel is great because the underpass ensures that you do not get the hit by the weather and it also gives you access to the malls nearby or the train station with your luggage with ease. The staff greeted enthusiastically each time anyone came to the lobby and that definitely added to the comfort of the stay. Access to the floors via the elevator is via card only and that adds to the security as a solo traveller. I was also pleasantly surprised that some of the staff could speak some basic English and would communicate with me when I struggled to find the vocabulary to express myself. Thank you Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kagoshima for making my stay so memorable. I have to add that I actually left my glasses behind and the staff members were kind enough to look for it and send it to the next place that I was staying at. I am grateful for the top-notch service received!

This is our second stay at this Solaria Hotel. We booked the larger room with a view of Sakurajima Island which made a big difference. The room itself is perfectly laid out with separate rooms for toilet, bath and vanity sink. There’s plenty of storage, shelves and ledges, for all of our travel accessories which we really appreciated. The location is ideal, across the street from Kagoshima Chuo Train Station with direct underground access to the other side of the street. The bus from Kagoshima Airport (40 minute ride), is behind the hotel, around the corner. We love Kagoshima and love this hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is perfect. Located in the same budget as the bus terminal and connected directly underground to Kagoshima-Chuo train station. The breakfast buffet had a good amount of variety. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable.

The layout of the room makes it feel a lot smaller than it is. There is not enough space to store luggage and we ended up putting it in the shower room. They should raise the bed up so luggage can go underneath. The soundproofing isn't the best and I could hear people coughing from other rooms and even though the room was on the 9th floor I could hear the street traffic below.

The location of the hotel is ideal- right next to the bus and train station, as well as the mall, making it easy to get around. The rooms are on the small size, but fairly typical for Japan, but if travelling with more than one large suitcase it's a little tight. The bed was a little on the firmer side, but I requested more pillows on account of being pregnant which they brought up to the room for us. Staff were friendly and helpful, check in and out is simple and our room had an amazing view of Sakurajima. There is also an amazing bakery right around the corner which is perfect if you haven't got breakfast included.

Environment: The room was tidy and clean, with a good view of Sakurajima. However, the double room with two separate beds felt a bit small. The bathroom featured a large bathtub and a separate shower area. Staff: The front desk staff's performance was adequate. The cleaning staff did an excellent job keeping the room neat and tidy. Self-service check-in and check-out are available via machine in the lobby. Transportation: Direct airport bus to the hotel is frequent and very convenient. Location: The hotel is centrally located with a direct tunnel to the JR station. It's also conveniently situated opposite to the main bus terminal, making it easy to access buses for sightseeing. The surrounding area is filled with shopping centers, making it ideal for shopping, snacks, and souvenir purchases. Pricing: The pricing is reasonable, given the central location, the great view of Sakurajima volcano, and the convenient access to transportation.

Environment: One minor drawback is the lack of privacy for the toilet area; there's no curtain or electrochromic glass to provide visual separation from the rest of the bathroom, which could be awkward if one needs the toilet when another one is bathing.

This is probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at: incredible view of Sakurajima (well worth paying the extra for), kind staff, convenience store downstairs, main train station, bus terminal and tram stop just outside and airport bus just around the corner! Not to mention the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was nice too

If I had to really nitpick it would be that the tv in the room didn’t have many channels and it would’ve been nice if it was a smart tv with YouTube, Netflix etc., but you are in Kagoshima, so you aren’t going to be watching a lot of tv

Beautiful view of the volcano and city from our 14th story window! Room was small, but pretty well-organized, so we were comfortable.. Very quiet. No English by the staff, who were not very familiar with restaurants and travel connections.. What you'd expect from a business hotel.. No real coffee, only a kettle and coffee tea bags in the room. None in lobby.. Starbucks or Lawsons are only a couple elevator and escalator rides away. You barely need to walk. Good restaurants in the next door Amu Pkaza 5th floor. Especially Tanro Tanto, Italian. Huge Italian wine list with bottles of excellent wine at very low prices. And the food was superb! Nice river walk from the hotel to the Meiji Restoration Museum. Their animatronic show is very worthwhile and very informative! The rest of the museum displays are mostly in Japanese.. Not sure why cocktail bars that serve dinner time drinks are so rare. But continue walking along the river past the museum a km or so to the Sheraton and you'll find one on the top floor. Beautiful views of the city and relatively inexpensive drinks and appetizers. Sit at the far end of the bar which opens to the outside. We'd stay at the Solarium again for the views and location

This property is quite unusual . Its reception is on the 7 th floor and when you exit the lift , look out the huge picture window : there’s that fabulous volcano . What an impressive & formidable sight . Hotel is well located across from the station , so grabbed a taxi to ferry terminal , ferry over , hour bus viewing of Island & stops along the way & special volcano viewing from 4 th platform . Ferry back & used local transport to return to hotel . Ferry ride less than 250 yen & Is. bus same….. fabulous sunset Changed city view room to Island view . Room ok size , comfortable bed ,

The staff were so very kind an helpful. They arranged for 2 early taxis for my family. I loved the location and the cleanliness of the facilities. It was right next to a big shopping mall and main train station. It was 15 minutes from the ferry port that I needed to get to the next morning. And it had a great view of the mountain!

The only thing I was a little disappointed by was the size of the room. It was so small we had to put our one suitcase on the table. It's definitely meant for short term stays. If we had 1 suitcase per person there really would not have been room for them. Even if they were small suitcases. This was the fault of Google Maps, but I got led all the way around the train tracks to the hotel, when all I had to do was cross over a bridge through the station. Be aware of that if you stay here!

The best location for my needs. The underground passageway between AMU Plaza and this hotel made it incredibly convenient, especially in bad weather. The staff was friendly and spoke English, and they stored my luggage until it was time to check in. The room was a good size and very quiet, so I could sleep very well. I love the view of the Ferris wheel across my room at night. I needed to catch the airport limousine bus in the morning, so this place was PERFECT. One of the most convenient and cleanest hotels I've stayed at.

The minor inconvenience of switching from one elevator to the next was a bit troublesome, but not a dealbreaker.
