Close to train station and bus stop

Small not too clean kitchen, hard to use, no place to sit and eat, limited seating in kitchen area ; no place to work, like a real table w outlets nearby except first floor by windows, counter cluttered w appliances, papers, misc; kitchen on third level after going through 2nd floor and outside fire escape stairs; noise in hallways after midnight w people going from roof to down to first floor, then smoking out front where noise and smoke goes through windows upstairs. Surprisingly, I thought being next to the train tracks was going to be too noisy, but it was okay, as there were no train horns, nor stopping; they rushed past quickly. Thin walls between rooms, enough to hear conversations, snoring!

I'm CiCi，The host is a Egyptian, he's very friendly and kind, likes to chat with guests. It's so nice to talk with him and his friend MiMi. I still remember the night we saw a fullmoon on the rooftop. Meeting diffenent people and listening to their stories, I think it's the most attractive feature of a youth hostel. Return to the hostel, There are enough sinks and bathrooms, people can eat at the first floor and the third floor or rooftop. and can cook at the third floor. and watching TV in the front lobby is relaxing. The location is good, it’s quiet around the hostel, there is a 7-11 at the corner of the street...

If you’re in room E you do have the short straw as it’s next to the comunal area and also facing the train tracks. The first night, there was quite a bit of noise from the communal area late on (there were no signs to say to be quiet from a certain time). I mentioned this the next day to the front desk to see if we could move rooms, and they were so helpful. There were no rooms we could move to, but they said that after 11pm it should be quiet in the communal area upstairs (there is also a communal area on the ground floor not near rooms also), and after this we were able to sleep fine. The boss was also keen to make sure we could sleep ok.

I arrived when it was dark and the lights were not very bright so I went too far and had to turn back. The first impression was probably the owner greeted me in Vietnamese and told me that he had been to many big cities in Vietnam. Then the receptionist was very cute. After that I was guided to the room, the kitchen. Because I was so tired, I fell asleep right away. The sleeping area was quite spacious and clean. There were curtains for privacy. At night you can comfortably snore with your roommate. It's like a band :lol:.

The only thing I don't like is probably the location of the motel near the train station so it's easy to hear the sound of trains running at night. Maybe it's a bit difficult for those who have trouble sleeping.

Overall a great experience and value for money,highly recommended to anyone,hospitality was wonderful,terrace was a plus and all the kitchen appliances for your use plus items available to you were great and the owner was a awesome person helping hands to his guests which in every way every aspect.Jerrod from USA/Turkiye/Turkey

I recently stayed at Guest House Kyoto Inn for a short visit, and it was a delightful experience. The location is fantastic, situated in a quiet neighborhood yet conveniently close to public transportation and popular attractions. The rooms are cozy and impeccably clean, providing a comfortable and relaxing environment. The staff at Kyoto Inn are exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any inquiries or travel tips. The traditional Japanese decor adds a charming touch, making the stay feel authentically local. Moreover, the communal areas, including the kitchen and lounge, are well-maintained and create a welcoming atmosphere for meeting other travelers.

Small hostel with friendly and helpful owner and team that made it nice to return to each day and to have a chat if desired. Good location especially with convenience store steps away and an onsen nearby for a hot bathing experience. Handy to train, bus and local sites. It is small and quiet hours not observed but l would book again even as a mature age traveller. Thanks Essam and team.

The owner Essan is super friendly and has experience living in Japan for 35 years, he will go out of his way to help you plan your trip and give you guidance with what to do. He is also very easy to talk with and approachable. The location is perfect, you're out of the way from the chaos of downtown and a 3 minute walk from the train station, a 711, and 5-7 minutes from the different bus stations. Getting around Kyoto is super easy from here. The beds are comfortable and even me at 6'3 (190cm) was able to sleep comfortably, something I've had an issue with in the past with beds in Japan.

The guesthouse was nice and tidy and a convenience store was quite close in case I needed to get anything to eat. The location is in a good spot since there is a train station nearby. The owner was friendly as well and the kitchen upstairs had tea and coffee which I found to be a nice touch. I liked that there were curtains on the beds so you can close yourself in and get a little more privacy from the other occupants of the room

I stayed in an all-female room since I was travelling alone and wanted to feel safe but there was no way to lock the room. There was a lock on the door from the inside but I couldn't lock it in case another guest arrived and you don't get a key to unlock it from the outside. It might be because I am a foreigner and this may be normal in Japan but it was difficult for me to sleep, knowing that anyone could walk in

The location isn’t ideal for nightlife - if this is important stay near the main station. There’s a ramen place nearby that’s really good but most stuff will close early so plan for that. Could organize more social events possibly, but spontaneously it’s nice. I only list this because the staff are so great.
