The hotel is not very big but the rooms are nice and large for Japan. Bathroom is not big but fine. Separate toilet is a plus. The hotel is located in a quiet area not so far from Kioto central station. Only 2 metro stops. Price is also good. They also offer Japanse breakfast box if you need but we didn’t try it.
Only thing that could be better is the location and the specifically the distance to metro/train or bus stops. Metro/train is 8 minutes walk and bus around 10 minutes. Normally not a big issue but in the summer heat it is.

The room was big for Japan. We had two singles plus two futons. It was just like the pictures. Has a nice welcoming feel. We were given fresh towels and bottles of water each night. It was super clean and had everything we needed. Nice residential area. 7-9 minutes walk from trains and buses.
Pillows were hard but that has been the same at all four Japanese hotels we stayed at. Only saw the staff once at check in, but we didn’t need them for anything it was just unusual, they were probably in the office if we’d needed them.

I really liked the style of the hotel. It had this old fashioned look to it. Kind of like a temple, because, you know, Kyoto - capital of temples. I also really enjoyed the room size, the free of charge items, such as coffee, hairbrush, cups, cotton swabs for your ears, etc. the bath was an added bonus this colder time of year.
The items you gave out for free were nearly perfect, the only thing I felt was missing was a small tub of toothpaste. Other three star hotels in Japan do it, so you might also take this into consideration. This goes not only for Tabist Groove but also many other hotels in Japan - the beds are just too short. It's not significantly short, just enough to have your feet hanging, which feels awkward and affects sleep quality. Also, I know there's not much to do about it, but the location is not ideal. Most attractions are further away. This could also be a plus though, as it's more quiet in this district. I'm not docking any points for this one as it's subjective.

So far this was the most comfortable room I found during my Japan trip. The bad amazingly comfortable. Room very clean and equipped with all necessary. There was quite a bit of space in the room, more than usual. Every morning they were bringing new water bottle.
Location of hotel is not amazing as it requires long walk to metro or bus or some coffee place/ convenience store. In general Kyoto is not that well covered by metro lines so I don’t think some other hotel would have been better option

We knew this was going to be one of the best hotels on the trip, but it was better than we expected for the price we paid. The room was very spacious with a nice tatami area where we could open all our luggage or just chill and eat. The hotel is super new, everything was impeccable. It's very close to one of the JR stations after Kyoto Station, it's a bit of a walk but it was super fine even for us who were carrying big luggage. The area is residential so very calm and silent. The room was very well-lit.

For its low price, the room was very large (which is surprising as most affordable hotel rooms in Japan are quite tiny). It's a tiny trot from the nearest train / bus station (10-15 min) which isn't too bad.
The only reason I'm taking some points off is because there is a strong citrus scent in the rooms, which did bother me quite a lot as it lingered even after opening the window for an entire day. It gave me a little bit of a headache and made it hard for me to fall asleep.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable, which made the stay a pleasant one. Although check-in time was after 4pm, my family and I could leave our luggages at the place early, so that we can continue to explore japan without lugging our bags around. Not only that, the staff were very kind to lend us umbrellas to use as it was snowing rather heavily; they also let us check in earlier due to the weather. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay with kind and amiable staff! I would stay at the hotel again if I ever come back to kyoto!

The location is quiet and cute, the room with the tatami mat was beautiful and was surprisingly big. It was nice to just spend time in the room, which cannot usually be said about other hotels. It was extremely clean and well appointed. The staff were very, very kind.
It’s a bit of a hike to get to the more central, touristy parts of town. You have to jump between a couple lines and walk. But this isn’t necessarily a negative. This area is a great representation of a residential area in Kyoto.

It was very specious, clean, and felt like new. I spent three four nights, and each morning i got new clean towels and pajama, and also a battle of water. It is located a little bit far away from the main city, but actually it was close to all the useful buses to the main attraction, and one train stop from the central station. The stuff were very helpful.
There was too much light getting into the room from the windows, early in the morning.

Very nice comfortable room The staff were very helpful despite our language barrier. They did manage very well to book us taxis and a restaurant.
The place is not well lite up at night, making it hard to find. They should tell guests about the Onsen right around the corner from them. We found out about it while getting lost and really enjoyed it. A great stay. Thank you.
