Really friendly staff, located in an older neighbourhood and short walk from the tube line. Breakfast was nice.

The reception is a short walk from the accommodation so take your bags straight there. The room is incredibly basic, luckily we were on the ground floor as I wouldn't like to have dragged my cases up to the top floor via the stairs. We used the laundry facilities but there is no heat in the dryer so we had to hang them around the room and dry overnight, not good when we were in a rush to leave early the next day.

Inexpensive Japanese Ryokan style hostel with small room, tatami mats and futons. Room had small, efficient private bathroom. Location in local neighbourhood near train station makes this a very unique immersive Japanese experience. Everything is the same from when we last stayed there in 2009.

Confirmation info needs to be updated to specify that keys must be picked up at a Ryokan two blocks away. Futon mattresses are thin, so hip joints can become sore from direct contact with tatami mat (add towels underneath to fix this).

It was very sweet Japanese’s room. The room was very clean and the futon beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay there! Thank you very much!

The location is so central to public transit, sightseeing gems, and amazing restaurants. Love sleeping on tatami and th traditional Japanese experience.

Firstly, the location of this budget friendly accommodation is excellent. Very close to the train station and bus station and close to the main shopping district and within good walking distance if some of the best sights. I found the room itself to be excellent (everything is relative to my travel being budget orientated), a good size, good air conditioning and, I know others didn't like the bedding I didn't mind it at all (it is extremely thin but I find this better than a mattress). Good size kitchen, with fridge, microwave etc... Staff member was extremely friendly but I didn't really have much interaction apart from checking in Facilities were clean and all I needed.

However, it's with the facilities that lets this lovely place down. My room was one of three along a narrow corridor. After the first room and before mine were two sinks, in the corridor. This meant that anyone brushing their teeth or washing up were doing it in the corridor right outside my room. This didn't bother me so much but it's something some people might not like. Especially as right after my room there are two toilets. Which meant that from first thing in the morning there were people using sinks and toilets right outside my room. And this was the same in the evening as I was sleeping. Now I was lucky that on the first two nights of my stay there was only one other guest so it wasn't an issue but on the third it was quite busy outside my room. Again, as a budget traveller this doesn't bother me so much but it's something to consider when booking this accommodation. As for me I would definitely stay there again as it was a friendly and clean budget accommodation in a good location.

We liked the location and overall it did what we were looking for. excellent traditional breakfast too.

the room needs a little upgrading. maybe some extra hooks on the opposite wall? there were marks/scratches on walls too. the communal access had a very unpleasant damp smell that definitely should be addressed.
