Great experience! We wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese style room and this certainly exceeded our expectations. The staff were so lovely and showed us how to put on our kimonos (which were provided for the stay). The room was very clean and well set out. Short walk from close bus stops to get into the centre and a fresh o supermarket up the road.
Walk from main Kyoto station can be tricky due to uneven pavements, just something to keep in mind if you are walking with large heavy suitcases. I would advise taking a bus. Not the most central location, but can easily access the main tourist spots by catching buses.

I highly recommend staying at Ryokufuso. I will definitely be returning here on my next trip to Kyoto. The service and facilities are excellent. The staff were so attentive. We came before check-in, so we decided to leave our luggage and walk around the neighborhood. When we returned, our luggage was already in the room along with tea, water and sweets. We were very happy with our room and it was one of the largest rooms we stayed in during our time in Japan. The spa facilities are beautiful. I recommend going to the baths around sunset, because it’s magic😍. The ryokan is also very close to Kyoto station- about 10 minutes by bus. We also booked dinner and breakfast during our stay. The meals were delicious! I’m so glad we were able to try several traditional dishes and they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions.

The "ryokan" is super clean, looks brand new but still with a charming traditional flair to it. They hit a good balance between a modern hotel and a ryokan, so it's not a traditional ryokan per se but you still get that feeling in the tatami rooms but with modern amenities. The staff is also very very nice and welcoming.
It's a bit far from everything, about a 15mn walk from the Kyoto Station so it's not too bad but it is a bit far from the main attractions in Kyoto.

Very professional and polite staff! You are greeted with a smile and the staff is ready to explain anything about the room or the proceedings during your stay if you do not understand. The room is traditionally Japanese for the full experience. The room is also as clean as can be and you are provided with yukata (evening clothing), fridge water and a welcome treat! There is also an onsen at the top floor! It is okay to arrive before you check in time and leave your baggage at the reception in case you have bo other choice than to arrive early. Same goes for after checking out: the friendly staff told us it was okay to leave our baggage for pickup, which was 4 hours later! Really helped us out as it was pouring outside.
There is not really any major thing that I disliked. Maybe the onsen view (the staff pointed out there was a view), but there is a roster placed in front of the window at viewing height. Probably for safety. We enjoyed the onsen experience nonetheless!

The room was a lovely traditional Japanese room with futons, very clean and comfortable. It’s close to Kyoto station and has a Sento (public bath) that we used every night. The staff were super friendly and helpful and still allowed us to have dinner even though we were running behind by about 10 minutes
There’s not much really, I wasn’t super keen on the dinner but that’s more of a personal taste opinion, the beef was really good though. Everything else was spot on.

Everything! It's a traditional inn experience with all the staff wearing Yukata and being extremely nice. The room was quite big with separate toilets and a huge wardrobe. It was quiet at the time of our stay. You can use Yukatas in the hotel included in the price They have public baths that we enjoyed a lot (on the top floor). The dinner we had was fantastic with many options (I took beef with Wagyu that came with 7 other plates of vegetables, miso soups, tofu, rice, etc''' My partner took the sushi option that was delicious as well and plenty to eat).
Futons are futons (but I would recommend it anyway for the experience)

The traditional room had the enjoyable atmosphere we wanted to experience. The staff were extremely nice, welcoming, and accommodating. They helped us get taxis and offered amenities.
The room was more dingy than expected. There were stains on the wall, and the bedding was worn and faded. My futon was very worn and lumpy compared to my husband's and daughter's. The location was rather inconvenient, with nothing within walking distance.

Seriously best hotel we booked in all of Japan, and we booked 3 before this. Staff went the extra extra mile, very clean and authentic Japanese experience. It was also the biggest hotel we've been to. Location was good from the station, to the main shopping district is a little far but overall amazing experience. If you don't mind travelling like 20 minutes by bus to the shopping district (we didnt) then it's phenomenal location
Honestly nothing, if I had to be super super nitpicky then it would be the fact that it takes 20 minutes to go to main shopping area by bus. But if that's a long time to you you need to reconsider your privilege. Also like 5 minutes from Kyoto station.

Spotless facilities and a keen eye for comfort. My room was exceptionally comfortable and welcoming. The bath was relaxing and very clean. My breakfasts every morning were perhaps my favorite meals I had during my stay in Kyoto. But the best part was the staff. I have been all over the world and I have never met a more kind and caring staff who genuinely cared about my experience and comfort. I cannot say enough kind things about them all. Thank you!
I have nothing bad to stay. I had an incredible stay!

During our trip to Japan we really wanted to experience a ryokan to have the traditional experience. The room was really big, and the tatami mats and bedding was very comfortable. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. We didn't opt for the meals, and they ended up being booked out when we stayed. It's great to have an onsen also.
The onset and bathroom area is a bit dated, could have been cleaner. It's also quite pricey to stay in a ryokan compared to a hotel.
