I loved the location and the attentive staff. The breakfast was also good.
The only thing I didn’t like was the uncleanliness of the room. Maybe it hadn’t been used in a long time. I’m not sure. But the table was dusty and the refrigerator was stained and unclean. It did not make a good first impression.

Nissho Besso was an absolute delight. The location was ultra convenient and in a gorgeous area. The very special staff were incredibly kind and attentive. Coming back to our rolled out futons with little messages and folded origami made us feel so welcome. We walked everywhere from here and were surrounded by wonderful shops, restaurants, bars and more. The superior Weekenders Coffee was a short walk every morning. The building and rooms felt authentic and even though my 8 year old son and I stayed in an affordable annex room we had lots of space in our room and the window opened to the entry garden below. The futons were dreamy to sleep on and we loved wearing the complimentary yukata.
There were faint smells of cigarette smoke but that may have been due to the smoking area being below our window. As a non smoker I particularly don’t like this. But it was only slight and didn’t impact our incredible experience there. Oh and watch out for the pillows with beans in them! We found a couple of softer ones which we are more used to in the cupboard!

This hotel is a genuine traditional Japanese ryokan. Their hospitality was impeccable, greeting me at the door anytime I arrived or left the facility and came up 10 mins later with tea and an afternoon snack. They actually refresh your linen and supplies every day (unlike the trend now where you take supplies from the lobby) and leave a little note with well wishes. There is information about how to correctly wear a yakuza (sp?)and use the private bath. The room is spacious - more like a suite than a room. I wish I had ordered their meals bc I’m sure they would have been equally perfect. Highly recommend.
There wasn’t a thing I didn’t like.

Very beautiful establishment located near the subway in a calm neighborhood with plenty of bar and restaurant nearby. The staff was very very profesionnal and polite (you can let your luggage on the morning and they even bring them to your room). Shootout to the lady who bring macha tea to our room with a lot of smile and such a good energy. The room was exactly what we dreamed of, large enough, with all the comfort needed, yukata provided for the night and soft-like-cloud futons. We were very well rested to continue our discovery of the city !

My favorite part of this stay was the hospitality of staff. They always greeted me upon arrival and gave me slippers to wear, put away my shoes/strollers, helped with any questions I had, taught me Japanese haha. The staff made my bed everyday, cleaned my room, left sweet Japanese treats and kind notes wishing a good day, the room was so cozy and the bath tub was small but nice and comfortable, the water pressure was very good. Not enough space to say good things!!!
There was some dust on decorative plants. It didnt bother me too much but just letting you know! Air conditioner remote controller could be explained with a diagram? in English. I couldnt use the remote control well because it was only in Japanese.

The staff was super kind! I had issues with my rash and they were so understanding and helped me to chance bedsheets when I got blood on them❤️🙏 I also got change when using vending machine. Really the service was good! It was okay to get welcomming tea but they also gave it at the next day when we got back from an adventure in Kyoto! Wow!❤️
When we first arrived, there was smell of cigarette in our floor? Didn't notice it the next day so I wonder where it came from?

It’s a very cute traditional Ryokan with lovely staff. The rooms are cute, they bring you tea and a sweet every day. We tried the traditional Japanese breakfast which was a nice experience
There are lots of rules about where you can wear shoes which is fine but you need to leave your shoes at the front entrance and give the key back every time you go out. It’s just a bit annoying. The futons are not comfortable at all - we added an extra two futons to the ones they set up for us. The bathroom is very old.

The hotel is a classic Ryokan style. All the rooms (private and common) are in Japanese style. There are small public baths as well. In the back, there is also a small zen garden. The staff is very lovable, they also bring tea and small sweets in your room if you come home before 19h. I really appreciate the location of the hotel: it is closed to train and metro of the station Karasuma Oike, as well as close to the main street and to the east part of the old city.

It was a lovely traditional accommodation in the historic district. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfectly made sure my stay was pleasant. After a heavy rain they dried our shoes themselves which was a pleasant surprise. I had my best sleep on the tatami floor bed and the little onsen was also very clean and pleasant.
The facilities look old but they are clean and functioning. I don't think there was anything I didn't like at the end. I can only recommend it! Arigato gozaimas!

The service was impeccable. From them bringing afternoon tea, to them loaning you an umbrella, to them guiding you to your room and teaching you on the customs of staying at a ryokan. This has been my favorite place to stay in all of Japan, and if I'm ever in Kyoto again, this is the first place I'm booking.
