The shampoo was wonderful and so was the location, right on the main shopping street which gave a fulfilling experience. The amenities were good. The staff were accommodating. The lounge/food area was open in the night too which made it a good place to rest outside of the room. The vibe was tidy — the color combinations were clean. It felt secure; seemingly mostly business travelers mixed with a few foreigners. The hotel, surprisingly, wasn’t busy during the summer. There’s a convenience store right underneath the building! The shower is so big and it was great! There was even a full bath!

The room was a little small but there’s enough space for two people. The toilet was a bit narrow too but the big shower made up for it. Keep in mind there are two buildings and check-in happens in the southern one.

An unbelievable location, literally set within pedestrian mall with great shops and eating options at the doorstep. Minutes walk from Nishiki market and a very easy walk to Gion district and Pontocho Alley and several subway stations. Really clean and comfortable room, small (as is the way with Japan) but modern and well appointed. We are a family of 5 and had to book separate rooms (3+2). Don't know if there is an option to accommodate a party of 5? Regardless, even with 2 rooms the value for money with 2 rooms was good. Nice lobby and helpful staff.

Location was fantastic, right in the heart of all the shopping Kyoto has to offer and a short walk away from Gion district. It was very clean and the rooms felt quite roomy. We also liked the shared eating area on which we had a little picnic one night.

The location of this hotel couldn't have been better for our family. It was close to restaurants, shops, transportation and attractions. It felt very safe, even for us to leave our teen daughter alone when she just wanted to rest - you will be walking a lot in Japan! The hotel is split into two towers, and even though I had hoped we would have a room next to our teens, this wasn't possible, but also was not a problem because it was so close and safe. Another convenience was the 7-Eleven, which was wonderful. The reviews of 7-Eleven food are true and it was extremely handy to have for breakfasts, quick snacks and late night cravings. The bath was deep and relaxing, plus they provided face masks and bath salts which were a lovely treat. (Tip: Grab free Japanese skincare items in the lobby).

These things didn't bother me at all, but I feel I should mention them. If you are coming from the USA, be prepared that rooms aren't huge. I grew up in the UK and I tend to travel light so I don't find it a problem at all. A joy of traveling with the family is that I still end up doing laundry. The machines they had worked find, however to get clothes fully dry it takes a number of cycles, so plan wisely. The other unique thing I found all over Japan are that the beds are rather hard and the pillows are unique. They aren't fluffy or soft by USA standards. Again, everything else about the hotel out weighed theses subtle cultural differences, and at then end of the day the value for money made it all worth it.

The location and price of this spot are unbeatable. It is part of this large covered pedestrian shopping plaza that connects to the Nishiki fish market and countless shops and restaurants. This was super helpful in the rain/heat we were contending with in our August visit. The front desk was so helpful with tips and any questions we had in general. If you score a room in the north tower you can take the elevator down straight into the 7-11, and that is the tower that has the coffee lounge as well. There is a smaller train station about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and a bigger one about 10 min if you don't want to hassle with more connections.

We booked through booking.com and they did not include the city tax on the room so there was some confusion on check-in when the price was higher than what i was showing in my confirmation. The lounge was under construction and borderline pointless altho we did get some coffee there once or twice.

Good location in shopping arcades. Close enough to subways even with luggage and pretty easy to find. Stayed in 3 Gracery hotels this trip and this was the most spacious and luxe. Loved the free amenities like face masks. One of our best hotels of the trip.

Did not try breakfast - too expensive by far, but plenty of options around including the konbinis. A few reception staff were not as knowledgeable in English and not as helpful with usual questions about luggage or transportation options. Don't care for their eco policies about not cleaning the rooms. I get the no changing the sheets but not even making the beds?

This hotel's location was excellent..walking distance to plenty of shops , cafe, konbini stores ,the train station , Pontocho alley & the Kamo river .. excellent breakfast buffet which is great if you want to start your day early on a happy stomach as a lot of eating places around the area opens around 10am -11am .. the room is clean and in good condition.. staff are friendly and they allowed us to store our bags at the hotel before checking in and after checking out ,which was much appreciated ..I saw a laundry room and a smoking room at the lobby .. would definitely recommend to everyone

Location was amazing! The rooms, although small (but to be expected in Japan) were clean and well-stocked with amenities. The cleaning staff were so lovely and polite.

The digital check in process was cumbersome and felt impersonal. Staff were generally very nice but there were a few instances where their responses to our queries felt 'inhospitable' or dismissive. It left us with a feeling of not wanting to engage with them whenever we had a query.

Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo is an outstanding choice for families visiting Kyoto. It’s perfectly situated right in the heart of a charming covered shopping street, surrounded by great restaurants, local shops, and just a short walk to the serene Kamo River. The location is incredibly convenient—only about a 6-minute walk to the nearest subway station, with the route being a pleasant, covered stroll along well-paved paths. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, with spacious rooms that are comfortable and thoughtfully designed. The breakfast is also a highlight, offering a tasty and satisfying start to the day. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and a little bit of Kyoto charm.

The room card has to insert the slot to light up the room. Before sleep, I took out the card making room dark enough, but At midnight, if I go to the restroom I insert the card again, all the lights turn on , that makes me embarrassed.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location couldn’t be better. It is super close to shopping areas, which made it really easy to get around and explore. The room was clean, cozy, and well-kept, which made it a comfortable place to come back to after a busy day. They also offer some great freebies like Wi-Fi, toiletries and other little extras that made the stay even better. However, there’s no full housekeeping service during the stay.They only come in to change the trash bags. It didn’t bother me much, but it’s something to keep in mind. For the price, it’s honestly a great deal. It is affordable, convenient, and comfortable. I’d definitely stay here again.
