The property was beautiful and comfortable! At first we were a bit disappointed there was no TV but pretty soon, we appreciated the chance to unplug and enjoy the breathtaking views. The room was a carefully thought out experience, staff was amazingly friendly/helpful and the location couldn’t be any better. We are leaving inspired for our home remodel!

We only wished there were more options for breakfast but there is plenty close by to enjoy. We didn’t mind, but a tough location for taxis to get to when checking in/out. Definitely for walking enthusiasts.

I almost don't want to tell anyone how fabulous this place is in case it's booked out for when I next want to visit! This hotel is absolutely amazing, with a location you just can't beat - right in the heart of Higashiyama, a 1 minute walk up the street from the Yasaka Pagoda and a convenient walk to everywhere you need to go in the area. The sunset view of both the pagoda and the Kyoto skyline on the rooftop is stunning, don't miss it. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the room itself was huge! I loved the modern industrial vibe, it was really cool. I will definitely stay here again!

This was the largest room I had on the whole trip. The room was very nice, decorated in loft style, everything is thought out to the smallest detail. The staff were very friendly and helpful in all matters. Just before we left, I found out that there was a roof top with amazing view of the old town, don’t miss it!!! The location is very good, almost in the centre of the old town, lots of cafes and restaurants nearby 👌🏻. There is a coffee point next to the hotel where guests get a discount. It's a place you really want to go back to. I highly recommend it !!!!

Located right in the Kiyomizu-dera neighborhood, very close to the shrine itself. The room was incredibly spacious. Could see Yasaka Pagoda from the window. Had a clothesline which came in handy for laundry. Very stylish place but also extremely functional. Great shower. Very helpful concierges.

This isn't the hotel's fault of course, but the old-town location has a few quirks. It is quite hilly, so going home can be a slight hike. Also, the neighborhood is geared toward daytime visitors, so there are not many dinner options extremely close by. Just something to consider.

Loved the design of the place (even the staff uniforms look great). The rooms are large and airy. The location is perfect to explore the area and catch it at a time where it is not crowded in the mornings and evenings. The staff is great and it is very quiet. Bonus: the roof terrace.

The rooms do not have black out blinds and if you do not like wearing a mask when you sleep, you will wake up very early. There is plenty of space in the room, but no wardrobe or chest of drawers, only 4 hangers.

Gem of a hotel! Although unassuming from the outside, the rooms are big and beautiful and the staff is so welcoming. The property is SO conveniently located, right at the base of the magnificent Yasaka Tower and within walking distance to so many other temples and quaint shops/restaurants. We loved the industrial decor of the hotel and rooms, and the view was simply breathtaking! The bed was the most comfortable we slept on during our entire time in Japan. Guests can also enjoy free access to the hotel's rooftop - we took some of our own snacks and drinks up there to watch the sunset one evening while tourists were paying ¥7,000 for sundowners at the restaurant next door. Cannot recommend this property enough!

Breakfast is a bit scant - a piece of toast with your choice of jam to spread over it. Watch your head when walking into the bathroom if you aren't short ;)

This is a stunning hotel in the heart of Gion. Whoever developed this hotel knows what they are doing and want to provide guests with an exceptional experience. This hotel is very comfortable with generous room sizes (although there could be more space for clothes to be hung/folded). The revamping of an old 50's concrete apartment block and the amazing views of the Shrine are phenomenal. The staff are exceptional, friendly, helpful, aiming to assist with everything!

There is no breakfast provided as part of this accomodation. This is located in the heart of Gion and on a narrow road that is closed to traffic on weekends and public holidays. You will need to drag your luggage through hordes of annoying people.

Beautiful design and lovely staff. Comfortable beds (rare in Japan). Central location and peaceful at night. It feels relaxed and homely. Good value for money. A rare gem of a hotel. Super interesting and not like any other hotel I’ve stayed in Japan.

If you are sensitive to light at night, ask to use the black out curtain for the hallway window. Some light comes through the blinds which is inevitable, given they chose blinds instead of black out curtains (interesting choice).

This really is a gem of a hotel. Large, very comfortable rooms in an awesome location for sightseeing temples and immersing in the old school charm of Kyoto. Plenty of food options within minutes. We took a 20 minute walk on the first night to Karawamachi area for dinner and that gave us a good opportunity to scope out the surrounding area. Got up and out early (7am) and barely anyone around at that time. Really nice to experience the area without the crowds.

Location was incredible. Hard to beat. The building itself was very cool - and room was very spacious for Japan. We didn't have the breakfast because there's too many other places to try nearby! Highly recommend for a trip to Kyoto.

The hotel is located on a hill by a busy tourist spot which can make getting there with luggage a bit tricky (you can walk or taxi, but just busy at peak times) - but it's completely worth it once you're there and settled.
