The location was great, close to many kimono rental shops and the popular Higashiyama Ward. The hostel is just 10/15 minutes away from the central station with a bus stop 2 minutes away from the hostel. It's close to Fushimi Inari and overall well-connected. The bed was comfortable and the showers were nice. There are two washing machines and two dryers available to use and they are very cheap (300 and 100 yen). The staff was nice and you have a lot chances to speak with other travellers.

The space provided to store outside shoes only has space for one pair, which is hard if you change shoes based on weather or convenience. This makes the hallway crowded with shoes.

The location is great! Walking distance from kiyomizudera temple and the train station. Definitely a touristy area, but the hostel is a great deal! Also the staff were really friendly.

I personally don’t like how strict Japanese hostels are about noise levels and socializing. You weren’t allowed to talk in the room at any time of day so it made the vibe a little tense. Difficult to make new friends! I’m sure some people would really appreciate this though (we never had any trouble sleeping).

A beautiful hostel just few minutes walking from the old Town. It's clean and very well organized (they even give you free slippers). There's a lot of privacy and I loved the 2 great common areas, where we even had a karaoke night organized by the staff. Overall I had a very good esperience and would come again.

The rooms are for 12 people each. So the possibilities to end up with a heavy snorer are higher

It was very bougie for a hostel. Nice amenities and good atmosphere. The bunk beds were very nice with the multiple outlets, hanging rods, shelf, and enough storage under the shelf and bed (for bottom bunk) to be able to store all my luggage. I also appreciated the lockers for valuables, which fit about a regular school backpack.

The mini fridges on the dork doors were broken, so you had to go down to the kitchen to store food in a working refrigerator, which could be a tad inconvenient.

it was extremely clean and the staff was amazing. the beds were very comfortable with a lot of privacy. every bed had a locker and a place to store shoes and the common area on the first and second floor were very nice. we met some amazing people there!

the luggage storage was very limited and the rooms didn't have that much space to open suit cases but that's really not that bad

Beds felt very private and comfortable. Reception staff spoke very good English and were easy to communicate with. Common area had quite a nice view of the outside. Price was very good. Cafe available downstairs. Everything felt fairly clean and professional. WiFi available for each floor (noticed this was an issue from older reviews, now solved).

Most facilities are on the second floor, so those on the fourth would have to go down two floors to take a shower or brush their teeth before bed. Wasn't very clear where to put coat or luggage - ended up leaving the former in my bed with me and the latter by some stairs, though I'm fairly sure there is some sort of proper area for both. Location fairly far from the railway station (30 minute walk, bus probably possible to use but didn't try), so be aware if you have day trips from Kyoto planned.

Convenient location to key tourist spots, easily walkable to the train station and bus stops. Many food options nearby. Friendly atmosphere. Showers were big with a dry and wet area divided by a door.

The toilet reeked of urine. The toilet seats had no seat warmer. The curtain did not cover fully when I was on the top bunk so at certain angles people walking by can see me. If you have heavy luggage, be prepared - there is no lift and only stairs so you need to be prepared.

Good location, good beds, friendly staff. The common area was nice too.

The airco was too hot and there was only one window in the room with many many beds... it was very stuffy the whole time and i felt like there was not enough fresh air for the amount of people in the room. The window should be ALWAYS open when there is 10 or more people sleeping in 1 area.

The location is great! Getting to kiyomizu early was no problem as it was a short walk!

I wish there was a secure place to store medium to large bags as the lockers are just big enough for a backpack but for solo travellers it’s not the worst

Nice hostel in an amazing location right below kiyomizy-dera. 2 mins from bus line for all major sightseeing. The beds are spacious and the luggage lockers provided are really useful. The bathrooms and shower rooms were clean and well equipped.

The mattresses are a bit thin but still comfy. While the hostel felt very safe there are no locks on the room doors and the main door only gets locked at night which put me on edge a little bit.
