The breakfast was homey, plentiful and buffet style. The dining area was also spacious and super relaxing. We stayed in the traditional japanese room and it was completely fine sleeping on the floor in futons. There was sufficient heating as well for the colder nights. The wifi connection was good to do work as well. The location was pretty good if you wanted to be close to the Happo One Bus Terminal only a few minutes walk away. Overall a pretty decent stay and good value for money. I particularly enjoyed this hotel because it was a family run hotel too and it's always nice to support the locals. The bonus was that there was an onsen as well included in your accommodation which was nice to use after a long day on the slopes.

Nothing! I enjoyed everything.

The Japanese couple that run the property were absolutely wonderful. So friendly and so helpful! The ski gear room had tons of space and our gloves were dry every morning, our tatami room was immaculate, the onsen was absolutely gorgeous (and almost always empty for a solo onsen after 10pm!), and all the little extras along the way were so appreciated. We were blown away by the breakfast buffet, it kept us snowboarding all day long. Also, when one of our bags hadn’t arrived, our wonderful host did all the work tracking it down for us (turned out it had been delivered next door). Really can’t say enough nice things about this place, we didn’t want to leave and will definitely stay again our next time in Hakuba :)

That I couldn’t steal their dog. She was soooo cute!

The location is excellent for skiing. It's a 5-10 min walk either to the gondola or one of the chair lifts. It's in a quieter area, slightly away from all the restaurants and bars. I liked that a lot. You can be in the middle of everything in 2 min without the noise at night. I had one of the top-floor rooms with a great view over the valley. As I had a Japanese-style room, the owners put a bed frame in the room to put the futon on, which was very lovely for a Western person. I am not otherwise used to sleeping on the floor. Overall, it was very comfy, and sleeping on the floor in the tatami with the futon would probably be fine as well. My room had very slight marks of use, but it was minimal for an older hotel like this; overall, it was very clean and well-kept. The owner and the personnel were all very helpful and easy to communicate with in English (their answers are sometimes in broken English, but you understand what they want to tell you) Breakfast is nice and changes every day slightly! The buffet is a good mix of Japanese and Western styles. The onsen is excellent for relaxing after a day on the slopes.

Overall, this was a good choice for our ski vacation in Hakuba Valley. It was only directly on one of the shuttle bus routes to the ski areas, but the walk from the Happo Bus Station where many shuttles DID stop was only about 10 minutes. If the weather had been worse that would have been a problem. The breakfast was very good and the onsen, despite too many westerners wearing bathing suits and bringing in beer (both historical no-no's in onsen culture) was a lovely complement to the end of each day. Room was fairly large for a Japanese hotel room, even though a bit on the rustic side.

I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Hakuba. Perfect quaint hidden gem of a ryokan. The rooms are incredibly clean, comfortable, the beds are firm but not overly so. The overhead light is dimmable, the room is always warm and cozy. The breakfast buffet is nice and seasonal and offers great variety. The onsen is so nice after a day on the slopes and everything is always clean. The owner is incredibly hard working and sweet, going out of his way to give rides to the bus station if he’s free and calling shuttle buses to pick us up at the hotel entrance. Loved my stay here so much.

We were the only guests at the hotel, probably. It was very empty and silent the whole stay. The public bath had only me and myself lol They asked the time for the breakfast and prepared the table for us, since we were the only ones there it was very VIP, the food was great. The staff was very kind and lovely! The highlight imho is the onsen, it was great. The location was good, and had free parking.

Our room had plenty of space but it was kinda dusty, my allergy was so strong that I sneezed the whole night. The amenities were for free but you had to get them at the front desk.

The room was nice and spacious. Very clean and neat. We chose a room with tatami floor and futons. Beautiful view of the mountains. The hosts very friendly and helpful. Easy access to laundry room/kettle room. Fresh towels and robes were always available on each floor. If you wanted the room serviced just talk at the reception. The location is great. 15 min walk to the Happo Bus terminal. And the shuttle bus station next to the hotel. The hotel its a bit old but for me its part of the charm just a glimpse in the past. I liked that upon entering the building all guests must take their shoes off and take a pair of slippers. It was much easier to come down for breakfast. It felt very cozy and nice. Brealfast western and japanese. The majority of the guests were non'japanese, most probably from Australia therefore I would have liked a more western bfast. But still, you had plenty to choose from. I liked best the french toast! Free shuttle from the train station to the hotel.

The walls were pretty thin so we could easily hear other guests. It was supposed to serve dinner too but unfortunately it didn't although it was mentioned in the description. Its pretty important to have half board included with the hotel because there are limited places where to eat and everything is fully booked.

The location was good as it was close to the Happo Bus terminal. The mountain view out the window was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our host was friendly and willing to assist with transfer to and from property. Rooms with a bathroom were quite spacious and comfortable. Returning hire equipment was easy as Rhythm could pick up directly from property.

Response to emails could be better.

Quaint looking motel with traditional Japanese Inn keeper. The rooms are more generous than photos perceive so it was great having plenty of space to relax in after a day on the slopes. Tucked just behind town it's a few seconds away from all of Happo shops and restaurants as well as Lawsons. Really liked the complimentary shared onsen bath in the basement level every day after being on the mountain and very close to the bus terminal where most transport arrives from. You can also walk 5-10min easily to the base of the ski slopes without having to catch a bus.

Great location - close to the Happo Bus Terminal and only a few minutes walk away from the free shuttle bus stop (Mount Station) to Happo Mountain. The hotel is also a shuttle bus stop for shuttles towards Goryu/47. A family-run business for generations and the owner is very lovely. We took a coach from Hakuba Station and the owner drove us to Hakuba station in the morning (note this is only based on his availability, eg. not during peak check-in time). The hotel had a specific warm room at the entrance to store ski/snowboard and other gear overnight. There was a simple buffet breakfast and the menu slightly changed daily (stayed here for a few nights).
