evo Hotel has wonderful friendly and helpful staff, which will go out of their away to help. All staff spoke perfect english. The location was amazing, right on the heart of town with plenty of parking across the road. There is an Onsen just across the road as well as a free foot onsen which you can enjoy an amazing view of the mountains.. There is also a small onsen on evo's 5th floor. This hotel has been fully renovated late last year. The main bus stop from Nagano is next door and also the tourist information centre. The general manager David is a top guy and happy to help any way he can. A big thank you to all of you David, Grace, Hyobin, Nideesh, Annie, Kat and Kato (Kato makes the best cappuccino). We do hope we haven't forgot anyone and will see you all again soon :) Oh! almost forgot the beds in evo are the most comfortable you will find in Japan... Liz and Andrew Burt

What did you like? The hotel is conveniently situated right next (literally) to Hakuba Happo station. Extremely convenient for those who arrive via Bus. Our main goal during our stay in Hakuba was to hike Mt Shirouma over 3D2N. Evo hotel was so kind to help store our luggage during the period we were in the mountains! The staff were all so friendly and they definitely helped us a whole lot, from booking an early morning taxi ride to the trail head to calling up dinner places to check if walk-in is feasible. The room we booked was just nice for us 4. There's an elevator in the building too, so one doesn't have to worry about lugging their luggage up the stairs. We enjoyed a nice relaxing soak in the public bath the night before our hike too. There is a common kitchen/lounge area, great for those who prefer to cook up their own meals. They were so kind to accommodate to our needs too! We had plans to board the train at Hakuba station to our next destination. Despite having checked out 3 days prior, they kindly arranged a drop-off for us at the train station when we asked. We can't thank evo hotel staff enough for how accommodating they were to our "demands" 😄😄😄😄

What didn't you like? Nothing. We loved it to bits. Highly recommend!

Tony the manager is a credit to the organisation. He went above and beyond helping everyone with booking food, busses and info on the slopes. All of the other staff were incredible and really made the trip special. Beyond this the location is phenomenal right in the middle of town close to food and the slopes. Opposite the accomadation is the free bus shuttle to the other slopes!

The rooms are outdated but by the sounds of it they will be renovated soon

Definitely a great hotel if you’re wanting to stay in Hakuba. Location is ideal, directly next to Hakuba Happo Bus terminal where the Hakuba valley shuttle picks you up for the ski fields. Lawsons mini supermarket is across the road. You can arrange to be picked up by Evo from the Happo train station if you arrive by train. Excellent room, with large bed and very sound proof room, unable to hear any noise from the bar down stairs. Newly renovated and modern, the complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Local restaurants and ski rentals are centrally located

This was one of our favourite hotels that we stayed in Japan. It’s a perfect location in Hakuba - walking distance to the bus stop, lawson’s, the public onsen, a number of restaurants and bars and the Happo Gondola. We had the deluxe room which was really comfortable, offering some great views of the mountains. We also really enjoyed the onsen on the 5th floor, the communal lounge/kitchen area, and the restaurant downstairs, which did a great breakfast toastie. It was really good value considering all of these facilities that are included. The highlight was the incredible staff! Everyone who worked here was extremely friendly and helpful and we had a lot of good conversations with the staff. Definitely would stay here again.

Only one small thing - the kitchen is relatively well stocked with cutlery and bowls etc but isn’t really set up to do any proper cooking. For example, there are hot plates but no pans or anything to cook on. We had to get a bit inventive when trying to make scrambled eggs in the toaster oven! The communal fridge is also just a small bar fridge. So might not be ideal if you’re intending to stay here for an extended period and make your own food.

Amazing stay. evo hotel never disappoints me. I have stay again 4 times since my May 2025 review. I still say that evo hotel is the place to stay in Hakuba. Great location, great accommodation overall. Onsen on the 5th floor, great spot to relax after a big day in Hakuba. New things happening at evo is free yoga classes with Hyobin. She’s an incredible, loving person with lots of charisma. Newcomers since my last review; Eleanora from Italy, she speaks fluent Japanese and English. Eleanora is very friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. Another newcomer is Yusa again very friendly and speaks very good English and makes good cappuccino. Thanks to all of you again for being who you are. When I think of Hakuba, evo hotel is definitely on the top of my list. 10/10

The locations was great -- right next to the bus stop and walking distance to Happo One ski lift. The staff was over the top -- especially Nideesh at the front desk. Not only was he helpful, but he was an absolute pleasure to talk to and went out of his way to really help make our stay amazing.

The price of the hotel fluctuated a bit between when we first booked and when I check online a month or so later (it was a lot lower). I did not make it an issue but it was a bit of a bummer ... Nideesh made up for it.

Everything. Hotel is ideal and brand new. Modern, clean and simple with all needed to enjoy skiing and the surrounding area. Breakfast is not fancy but gives you all you need for the day ahead. Rooms are spacious. Lockers in the dry room are very helpful. Onsen is wonderful on the top floor with a lovely view. Good tunes playing and funky vibe. Location for the bus couldn’t be better. And a short walk to the Happo gondola plus a number of good ski stores and restaurants.

Very minor comment but staff could have been a little more engaging and knowledgeable. Place and area felt new to them.

Hotel is brand new and in great condition. Super clean and very well run. Breakfast every morning while a bit repetitive was well stocked and a great way to start the day before hitting the slopes. Washer/dryer availability is great for keeping gear clean and the ski lockers available for each room are fantastic, our gear was warm and dry every morning. We used the Onsen a couple of times and I had it to myself both times, views from up there are great! My only recommendation would be trying to find a smoother system for reserving shuttles, we had a couple of miscommunications resulting in delays, perhaps an online booking system would fix that. Overall a fantastic stay!
