The building is a beautiful historical house in a quiet neighbourhood. You can really feel the history of the space and the rooms are comfortable while maintaining a special atmosphere. There was a possibility to purchase extra services (i.e. Yukata rental) and event tiny souvenirs which was very nice!

The self check in works nicely, but it's a bit weird to only have guests around without any staff member. The room was spacious and beautiful, but we got the feeling that a lot of the decoration was "fragile" (lots of signs to not put anything in some parts of the room) which made us a bit wary of moving around, even if we were extra careful.

I booked the garden view room and it was beautiful. With the sliding doors open, I sat and looked out over the garden and it was lovely. I also loved how traditional the space was. The shared bathrooms were clean there were no problems.

As to be expected, you could hear a lot of noise from other rooms. I checked in around 5pm and could hear the conversation the next room were having. By the time I went to sleep it was much quieter and people were very respectful but the floors were very creaky when going to toilet etc. Also the futon bed was pretty uncomfortable & very thin and felt like sleeping on the hard floor but this is traditional I believe so just personal opinion.

Place is a traditional house, very well kept. Perfect location, close to old city, shops, Nara park.

As stated, the place is an old house and can be very noisy, you can hear half of the guests depending where your room is. It really depends on the guests behavior if you will get a good nights’ sleep. Guests should maybe be advised more strongly to keep quiet, especially if they arrive late or leave the house early in the morning.

The location was fantastic, the staff was very friendly, the facilities were clean and tidy, and the room was lovely! We booked one of the private rooms and it was bigger than we were expecting which was nice, plus there was a little coffee table and a clothes rack with some hangers that were nice bonuses. The walls are pretty thin so you can hear a good amount, but all the guests were very quiet and respectful so that wasn't really an issue.

The light in the shower room was an automatic sensor, so I had to reach my arm out every minute or so to get the light to turn back on. Really not a big deal though, that is just me grasping at straws!

I did like the location. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The water hot. Would consider staying again but would choose the very end room and sleep in the 'lounge' area at the rear. Quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of everything we wanted to see.

The non-enclosed smoking area is outside the main building and very close to the first outside (new extension) room which we had. So smokers could wander around and the smoke kept coming into our room where we had the windows open. Very unpleasant. Also the people in the room next door were very loud and up late carrying on (something that is hard to control). We also had to move the futons into the second room as the front room windows/door had no curtains, and lights from the street were very bright. Definitely need ear plugs and eye masks here.

It is a traditional Japanese guest house that is run similar to a hostel with different types of things, including private rooms. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time there. They provide towels and robes for a small rental fee. The price was really great for the area and they have private family rooms with shower and toilet, which is what we chose. Check in was easy and done with a key pad on our own, which was nice because it was quite flexible. The rooms were clean and the small garden in the back was pretty.

There were a few old stains on the bedding.

We booked a back room which was spacious and clean and quite a new build. Great showering facilities. Never saw staff, they offered free bikes but couldn't locate keys to unlock. That aside, it's a great location and easy walking to local eateries. Would recommend

The house was clean and nice, very special experience! very authentic,we loved the house! The neighborhood is quet, shopping streets few minutes away, 15-20 minutes walking to the Nara park

we stayed in the end of January, it's kinda cold outside and traditional house doesn't keep we warm, so it's a bit chilly inside, especially in bathroom area, so keep the weather in mind choosing traditional house

We had unbelievable experience living in traditional Japanese house. Hundred years old wooden building preserved all details from old stove to sleeping on tatami using futon. Even feeling cold of the house during our stay in winter was needed to feel ourselves closer to what people where experiencing living in the old times in traditional buildings. Separate story of how grate and comfortable all organised inside, how detailed and attentive. It is a perfect location for exploring old town Naramachi and historical sites. Very close to the station and many stores around in five to ten minutes walk. Also great experience for us were few workshops, pottery classes, calligraphy and traditional ink making. Small local museum of the traditional toys is amassing, couple old houses open for free entrance to investigate all details including the inside garden is a very good possibility. And it's all located in couple minutes walk.

For us all was perfect.

The two rooms were simple, but clean and comfortable and a generous size for three people. We stayed in the family rooms with private bath. One room has two beds, and in the living room, you can put another bedroll at night. The hot tub was lovely with good hot water. The location is perfect for visiting the sites of Nara and really close to both the Craft museum and toy museum. Very close to a number of restaurants and the shopping streets but in a very quiet area.

It would have been nice to have some seats outside on the veranda even though it only looks out onto a strip of grass and some houses. There is another garden area, but it has not been kept up so again, it is not a place to linger. The seating in the rooms is either in the bed or on the floor. If you can only sit on raised seating, this is not the place for you.
