October 2024

For my short stay in Nara I really wanted to stay at in an older building, have the old feel of Japan and use a floor mat at least once in my whole trip. I was completely served on my purpose from this stay. I don’t know how the distribution of room works, but I had my own private bathroom and shower, a really large room, that was basically an appartement (minus the kitchen). I had 4 floor mats, that I did all pile up one on top of the other because I am not used to sleeping on the floor, so it was comfortable. The AC worked great. I had a small fridge. The Wi-Fi was good. The room was really cleaned, there are traces of the age of the building so you can see it, but it didn’t feel dirty, just gives character. There’s a lot of restaurants around the area, it was close to all the tourist attractions and the deer park, I just walked all day really no use for a bus, it’s really a convenient location in the little more quiet street of Nara, but still 10 min away from the train station so easy walk with baggage’s. The staff was super friendly, I was on the third floor and the guy at the reception brought my heavy bag all the way to my room before I came back for my check-in, to me that is going above and beyond….it really was heavy. There’s no elevator so please be aware of that if it’s an issue for you, the rooms are on the second and third floor, the main floor is reception and communal space. As a solo traveler I felt safe, barely heard anyone else in the place and it was sold out so I know I wasn’t alone and I did crossed some people on my way to my room, so either the soundproofing is really good or everyone was very respectful 🤷🏻‍♀️ All in all it was a great experience and the price makes it so am worth it too.

Pillows are hard, just an FYI, I placed them in between the floor mat to sleep, because directly sleeping on them was to much for me.

Location was a little far away from the train station but I think that helps more than anything as you could get a great look at your surroundings before you even set out. Staff were friendly and knew enough English when I had a question.

Nothing to dislike.

It's was a good place where is close to the kintetsu station & Nara park. If you want to stay fair price hotel you should check KOSEN ANNEX (japanese style hotel). When you get there you don't need to be worry communicate with the staff because they can speak English & japanese well.

The Japanese style room was spacious and beautiful, well equipped, and very very quiet. The location is great, quiet street, not far from Kintetsu station, Kohfukuji, shops, restaurants, and park.
