The guesthouse is very clean and neat. The interior is nice and cozy, with two separate community/lounge areas in which you can either talk to other guests or work digitally (fast Wi-Fi, electrical outlets and USB ports everywhere) while enjoying a cup of free tea or coffee. There's also unlimited free spring water and orange juice, which was honestly the greatest blessing in the sweltering summer heat during our stay. The free bathroom amenities are all of very high quality (constant stream of fresh high-quality towels, bathrobes, toothbrushes, razors, etc.). There's even an entire large shelf section dedicated to luxury hair products, covering all of the most exclusive Japanese brands - also all free to use. Additionally, there's a selection of board games, books and even cables (such as USB etc.) to use during your stay. The location couldn't be any more perfect, as you are right next to the entrance to Nara Park as well as the Kōfuku-ji Temple grounds. The main tourist shopping street is also within your immediate vicinity, but due to being just a block over, you're still in a quiet and peaceful location without hearing any of the bustle of the masses. There are cafes, restaurants and convenience stores all around the guesthouse as well, so all your basic needs will definitely be covered. The guest house itself is unstaffed, but the check-in procedure was very easy and straightforward. The only staff that you might encounter is the kind cleaning staff that cleans throughout the guesthouse around noon hours everyday. All in all, I can confidently say that this is the single most value-for-your-money accommodation that I've ever stayed at. We paid less than half of what we've paid on average at all other budget hostels during our year in Japan. And that's including hostels/guesthouses that did not even remotely offer as many amenities or such an amazing location.

There was literally no downside, especially not at this unbeatable price point.

We stayed really close to the park. They seem to have several places across town , it might be that we got lucky with our location. The place had really good amenities, including hair dryers, hair irons, sweets, phones chargers, tea, water bottles, etc. We had a room with a shower but the common shower rooms were individual and seemed quite nice (although we did not use them)

The bedroom is not too spacious, it lacks a small table and chair to place your items and there is no closet or way to unpack.

The staff was warm and kind. The common area, restroom, and shower room were cleaned daily. Regular size towels and of good quality. Absolutely!! loved this place

I wish they had a washer and dryer. The best laundromat for us was Nomurakuriningu JR Naraekimaeten ノムラクリーニング ＪＲ奈良駅前店, 1 Chome-3-3 Omiyacho, Nara, 630-8115, Japan Opened 24 hours, A/C!!!, super clean, parking, and worth the money 💰

I enjoyed meeting other guests at the table in the sitting area. Having the Tea, coffeee, cold drinks and biscuits makes this an inviting area. I found the bed very comfortable.

We had some problems with the front door. At times, the access code did not open the door, leaving people stuck outside. Some guests did not receive a message with their room number and door code. What was good was that a staff person was monitoring emails and able to communicate the missing information.

Comfy Stay Sarusawaike is a small facility extremely close to Nara's most important temples. The structure is unmanned, thus you will have to figure out some things yourself.The structure is on two floors, with no elevator. The lobby offers some good facilities(toilettries, numerous shampoo, body gel, etc) plus tea bags and great bisquits. The only minus would be the absence of any kind of luggage storage, thus you need to use the one at the railway station.

Triple room has a good size. Free beverages. Hot water for tea. Great location.

No kettle in the triple room which made uncomfortable to drink tea in the room because you need to take hot water from downstairs. No reception so if you are transferring luggage from another hotel you will need to pickup from the office and go walking 8 min to the hotel. Also, there is a charge of 100 JPY if you want to keep other luggage in the office, it's not much but for the price of the room that should be included.

The room was basic and clean, and had all the necessary facilities. It felt homey with whimsical, personal touches reflected in its interior decor. Guests were given free access to drinks in a fridge, such as orange juice, water and even umeshu beer. And there were even packets of instant hot soup and biscuits available! There were hair dryers and even hair styling wands that could be borrowed. All in all, it was a comfortable stay and was convenient for exploring the main sights of Nara and attending the Wakakusa Yamayaki festival.

Everything was perfect. The checkin, luggage storage, route suggestion from the staff, great selection of champus and conditioners, free tea, coffee and a microwave - all available in the common area. Extremely clean and comfortable beds. Great showers! And I paid very little for the amount of luxury I got - thank you!

The communication from the owner was easy to follow and an message was sent with details regarding every bit of information my partner and I needed to self check in for the one night. Building and room were clean and cozy and the atmosphere and overall feel of the hotel was bright and uplifting. We very much appreciated and admired the lounge area which provided help yourself drinks, coffee, and travel size hygiene items.

The room might be on the smaller size to some and the toilet/sink/shower are compacted into the room but still usable and enjoyable. Took a little bit of time for the shower water to warm up.

Children loved the bunk beds in this hostel and the common area is not only quite comfortable, but there is a fridge with complimentary water and orange juice. Overall, this was a comfortable stay.

All doors need codes provided by the property. Our door lock malfunctioned and staff needed to come and fix it. The light in the bathroom of the 8-bed room cannot be turned off.
