I likes absolutely everything about this property! I expected it to be very ‘rustic’ considering the price but it was perfect! The rooms were super roomy (not just by Japanese standards..) and super clean and equipped with everything you might need to warm/cook your meals, comfortable beds and best of all- beautiful French doors by the kitchen table where the deer approach in the morning. The staff that was working (or manger?) was incredibly kind and helpful, giving us pointers about the area, he even pointed out an illuminated temple nearby. Made our stay extra special. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Nothing!

It was in a magical location. If you really want to experience the deer without the crowds and swarming this is the way to do it. You have the park almost to yourself. It was truly a magical experience that my family will always remember.

The only bad part about the deer was all of the poop on the doorstep that never got removed. I would have done it myself if there were supplies available. Beds weren’t super comfortable. For the price it is easy to overlook those minor inconveniences.

The location was great, right in the Deer park... once you are inside the room, it is great. In the early morning, the deer are wandering around and will come right up to the folding door and you may feed them. The room was nice and clean, lots of light wood. It was not a big space, sort of like an AirBnB feel, with small kitchen, dining table, modern sofa, extra bed, and a loft bed and one double bed. The bathroom with nice, and even came with a washing machine. The shower and bath were newish and clean.

The hotel's lobby was terrible, looked like a bad movie. The staff was helpful and nice. But, the lobby and the hostel connected to the lobby was disturbing.

This place is much much nicer than the pictures suggest. The room and the common area / lounge / kitchen are great. And there are two restaurants - albeit ones that close early - footsteps away. The deer aren’t as dense here as in other places but this was a peaceful and relaxing night - dare I say magical one - on our trip that turned out to be a highlight. The staff was so friendly and warm, storing our bags before and after and carrying them up the stairs eagerly in the rain. His suggestion on where to walk at night really paid off as well. It was a cute little apartment we said goodbye to reluctantly. Nara is a lovely place if you stay here; so glad we chose it over the station.

It’s more of a hike from the station than Google suggests but a bus gets you relatively close. There are stairs if you have any injuries or handicaps.

Good sized room with great facilities, with a unique location inside the deer park. There aren’t any shops or restaurants close by but we knew this in advance and the kitchen is well stocked if you want to prepare food. Bathroom was very modern and spotlessly clean. It’s also a drying room which is really useful.

Unfortunately there was heavy rain for the whole of our stay so the deer disappeared very quickly. Not the lodge’s fault (and they were really helpful with helping us find a taxi back to the station) but just to be aware that if the weather is bad it’s a little harder being so far out of the town. Also make sure you bring plenty of cash! We braved the rain to walk to Todai-ji only to be turned away because it was cash only and we were 100 yen short - and there are no cash machines near by once you’re in the park.

Unique accomodation much like a chalet, with deer coming right up to the doorstep. Helpful staff, fuss-free check-in. Beds were comfortable and rooms were soundproof. The bathtub was bigger than most hotels in Osaka!

The hotel's restaurant was closed during our stay so the discount coupon wasnt useful. The glass door lock was faulty. It didnt bother us much as we didnt have valuables with us but security could be improved.

Location was incredible, right in the park. We could feed the deer out the window! Family room was beautiful, very modern and cosy, exceptionally clean and well designed. Had everything we needed and more! Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nothing we didn't like, it was just a bit tricky getting there on public transport as the buses weren't following their usual routes due to congestion from the new year's holiday. It wouldn't usually be like this though.

The staff were lovely and the room was spacious & cheap. Lots of deer & temples close by. Great shower & bath with lots of room, we were very happy with the facilities. Be prepared to do a lot of walking as it is a bit of a walk to the main city area, there is a bus, but we chose to walk.

We had a ground floor apartment & lots of tourists walking past so had to keep the blinds closed or everyone would be able to see straight in. We were out all day & left early during our stay so it was only an issue when we first checked in which was in the afternoon. Once it got dark (which was 5pm when we were there) the tourists all left.

Amazing! Great to have the deer at your window :) We received good information from the host before we arrived and after check out they kept our luggage and then ordered us a taxi to the train station when we picked our bags up. The room also had coffee, tea, creamer and more basic things so we did not have to bring it.

Nothing! This was amazing. Maybe an extra pillow in the room would have been nice. But I was not expecting that and I did not ask for it in the reception either.

Location is amazing, so good for the kids to go out and explore by themselves, no tourists in the morning or evening and awesome walk up the hill and to the temples. Very nice personnel.

The lodge was cosy and well equipped but ideal for 3 people, not 4. It was difficult to place the 4th bed in the space (it was folded up when we arrived since I assume they had the same difficulties) and that bed was super uncomfortable. The other 2 were fine though,
