I loved the service here, the gentleman was kind and carried my bags up the stairs and was prepared to be awake earlier if I needed to leave earlier than when the check out desk was open. The location had lots in walking distance including a street with lots of anime shops and a gorgeous temple, but if one didn't want to walk, there was a train station practically across the street! The room is a unique experience for a foreigner, sleeping on a futon on tatami mats (the coziest sleeping experience out of the six hotels I slept in in Japan) and sitting at a short table with a chair with no legs. Even little things like the temperature control in the shower being easy and precise and the amenities including water, lotion, and a packet of snacks made this a better experience than I had at other hotels. It is not for people who stay out late though, as the doors get locked at midnight, but that was not a problem for me--and like I said, you are going to want to have plenty of sleeping time!!

I didn't know how the air conditioning worked--I was able to look on the internet that it's remote operated, but it would have been nice to have been shown that remote. Also I don't believe it's wheelchair or mobility device accessible, unfortunately.

I loved how traditional it was. Maybe it isn't so much for very japanese people, but as a foreigner, it was nice to experience. I loved the Tatami flooring and the table that heats up as you eat at the table. The host was very nice and patient with translating, she's very informative and always an email away if you need anything or amy help.

There wasn't any room or storage to really store your things. The only time you have space you ever get is when you fold away your futon. I stayed at a room that was for 2 people, if you upsized your room to a 4 person one, you'd have more space.

We enjoyed a lot our stay there. The staff was friendly (we only saw them for checking ,there is no one at reception otherwise) , they changed our towels everyday ! The room was a bit small (the bathroom very narrow) if you travel with big suitcases but it was very comfortable and clean. We slept very well on the futons. Take into consideration the walls are really thin if you are sensitive to noise (shower neighbour..). We were not bothered by it. There are also some tea and coffee in the room and some snacks. I saw in the hallway there is a microwave that can be used. The location was also very central. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay, we would stay there again.

We loved our stay at Wafu Ryokan Uehonmachi — a simple place with lots of character. Sleeping on the tatami was a memorable experience, and relaxing under the kotatsu was a true highlight. The location was convenient, close to the metro, a shopping mall and several places to eat, which made getting around easy. The staff were kind and always ready to help whenever we needed something. The room had everything we needed for a longer stay, including a small kitchenette with a microwave and a mini fridge. It was a great mix of traditional comfort and practical convenience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience something a little different!

This is great little budget ryokan. The amenities provided are excellent for the price and the location was great. Easy to get anywhere within about 20 minutes by train.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find as the sign on the outside does not match the name on Booking.com. A lovely local helped us but even she had trouble finding it! Also the staff, who are very nice, are not around much and do not seem to have much local knowledge. The other thing was that the futons are very thin so not very hard and not comfy at all particularly as the floors are thin tatami matting placed over regular floirboards.

I loved the authenticity and the location is very convenient only a short 5mn walk to the station. The staff were really helpful and welcoming! We left our luggage at 12pm and when we came back for check in they were already in our room! The room was nice and spacious with everything you need and even a small tea set and snacks. Dotombori is close (30mn walk or you can take the public transports) Such a good experience 10/10 😁 Thank you! 🙏

We wanted to have the traditional experience and that’s just what we had. Sharing the bathroom was a little uncomfortable at the begining because we weren’t used to. But everything was spotless clean, it was traditional, small but enough actually. The staff was very helpful when we needed to transfer our luggage to our next hotel.

The curfew was a little stressful because we felt we couldn’t visit the surroundings as much as we wanted and come back to our room whenever we wanted. But that’s part of the game when you want the traditional experience.

It was really authentic Japaneae feeling with the tatami and the folding matresses. Taking off shoes at the entrance of the inn was mandatory, as a form of keeping the establishment clean.

The lack of a laundry room or the bidet, made it feel like we got less than expected for this pricepoint. However i feel like some exchange has to be made for such a traditional ryokan experience.

All amenities available and location is right close to osaka-uehommachi station. Yet it’s a calm and quiet area to experience a spacious traditional room with tatami floors. The staff were super helpful and super kind. Budget friendly. Bugle get friendly too. Would recommend this to anyone.

Some of the mats were dirty. Maybe they are hard to clean. We stored our luggage (6 pieces) for nearly half a day for 1000yen which is a bargain compared to coin lockers but other hotels I’ve been to never charged.
