Groovy vibe, cool rooms and tatami matting, able to get a nice Japanese experience, easy access to nice sink/kettle and bathrooms. Comfy futons. Easy to access food options like udon nearby
Staircase tricky to navigate with luggage and slippers! Also perhaps having clearer address and description on Google maps. There are two traditional guesthouses in Takamatsu and we acccidentally navigated to the other one. Clearly naming the Google maps address and having more photos would be very helpful for those using google maps.

The room is very big and clean, with big TV in the room, and they also have the staff who can speak English and Chinese. I also asked her recommendation about Udon restaurants and it’s good( but needs to wait on line;)
Because they only offer 1 towel for each person. You need to prepare towels if you don’t want to pay 100.

Overall was a pretty nice stay and place and the girl from Taiwan working there was nice and helpful
It's a little bit awkward going up and down the narrow steep stair case. Some previous guest didn't return the hotel key so we had to use a spare one which is ok but if we accidentally lost the key then no back up. The same guests moved to a different room and they seemed a bit loud and rude but otherwise ok really

The care from the staff and owner was exceptional and nothing compared to the traditional business model. The Japanese style room was simple and meticulously clean. With the honest and truthful aim of sustainability, it follows the style of zen Buddhist belief and was built with bare minimum on purpose. But it fulfills the modern need with having a Japanese bidet equipped in the toilet and exceptionally clean bathroom and a modern sink for the necessities you expect in a modern ryokan style hotel. The reception area was comfortable and designed with care. The staff and owner was very helpful and attentive. The two shared shower rooms were equipped with the latest shower heads and extra clean and water pressure was better than any other franchise hotel than Hilton or Marriot.
The communal approach was not the usual cheap approach but refined to fit the modern need and with a better service compared to the franchise hotel. Facility was equipped with the latest bathroom equipments and the service beats any modern western hotel approach. Very Japanese. This hotel is suited for the environmentally conscious travelers who also enjoys the clean toiletries, shower and sink.

Spacious and light room in the center of Takamatsu. Tucked away in a cute alley these rooms give a traditional feel while not compromising on comfort. The staff were kind and helpful, when you speak a little (broken) Japanese.
The hallway to your room is shared with two other rooms. This can sometimes be a bit noisy when people go in or out The stairs to the rooms can be difficult for less abled people.

The place is super central. You are close to Kawara-machi station and the bazaar style shopping streets where there's a lot of food to be find. The room was very spacious for Japanese standards, and everything was nicely decorated with different kinds of (what looks like) found wood. Lot's of character. You have a sofa, and two desk areas to work on. There's a microwave, a fridge and water boiler and sink, and toilet in the room. I was an hour early and was let in early in my room, which is a bit unusual here. The small downstairs reception hang out area downstairs apparently turns into a pub some nights, I didn't get to experience it this time. Just a charming, no fuss set up.
The only somewhat downside was that the shower was separate downstairs which didn't bother me.

Stayed in private Japanese style room with our own bathroom. The room was beautiful and very spacious and the facilities (bathroom, futon etc) were perfect. Microwave in room, which was great as there was no kitchen. The vibes of the hostel are also so nice, with beautiful decor and friendly staff.
Not a lot of communal space if you want to hang out and meet people however this was not a big problem for us as we were not staying here long enough.

Absolutely amazingly arranged place, with beautiful rooms which were, strangely enough, the nicest smelling room I’ve ever stayed. The staff were helpful and friendly and the location was perfect

loved the location and the staff were super helpful. they let us check in a little early and held our bags for us after checkout
the walls are paper thin. It was just bad luck but we had a family of kids next door one night and a man who kept snoozing his alarm the next morning. other then the early wake up noise, the facility was wonderful
