The hotel had a lovely clean room with a view of gardens behind. It was clean and I found the bed comfy. Because it was winter there was an extra gas heater and this got the room to a toasty temperature very quickly. Rather fantastically the hotel lounge had FREE, yes free, Gin and Saki and soft drinks from 3-12pm, every day. Along with snacks. If there was comfy chairs in that lounge it would have been perfect - there was even a nice view of the sunset. The onsen (which you have to pay extra Y150 per night, but that is the Gov rules - not the hotel) was cute, with a nice rock -lined outdoor pool. It is a VERY short walk to the train station, but if you are going for skiing you will need to get a but up into the hills every day, which I knew beforehand. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great.

I was a little lonely, but that is my fault for going at the end of the season. If there are too few guest they set a table of food for you at breakfast rather than a buffet, and I didn't eat everything so I was worried about it being a waste of food.

The onsen was great, the free beer, coffee and other drinks in the lounge each day was amazing. Room had a nice outlook. Close to a huge range of ski resorts to choose from. Nice restaurants and a Lawson in easy walking distance in the evenings. The breakfast was kind of expensive but a good range of delicious western and Japanese food available. No English tea available though so BYO if you can't live without a cuppa!

Only one very small, squishy pillow provided and none more could be obtained from reception - which I couldn't quite understand. What sort of hotel has zero extra pillows available?

Super easy to find, a short walk from the station. There were free pastries and drinks available on arrival. Later on, there seemed to be free alcoholic drinks and snacks available in the dining room. It was help yourself with no staff in sight...unless I misunderstood something?!? The hotel and room had a great view of the town and surrounding mountains and was easy to reach from both the snow monkey park and Nagano. The room was very large and futon beds were comfortable. We also tried the onsen, which was great and completely empty! We tried to gave dinner there but were told we had to have reserved ahead of time. Not sure how we would have done that.

Nice staff, lovely outside onsen, near station, free drinks and snacks. Good size room, good facilities.

Limited drinks supplied in room, that is it really nice place to stay, little bit old n dated in places, but adds to charm.

The staff is really nice person! they help us a lot when we get off the bus at a wrong station (middle of nowhere) Without them we would have to go back to Nagano😭 The Onsen is great and the room is clean and warm, and the lounge is really cozy and beautiful. Definitely recommending this hotel!

comfortable room. dinner and breakfast (both Japanese) meals were good. staff were nice.

Parts of the building look quite shabby (especially the ground floor where the dining room and onsen are located). onsen really needs better cleaning.

Location was good, about 25 minutes drive to the ski slopes and 10 minutes drive to the town. They provided ample wide variety of drinks to unwind after the hitting the slopes. The lounge is fitted with camping furniture.

The pillow could be improved and the seats in the lounge could be more comfortable.

Very close to the train station, only a couple of minutes walk. Our 5th floor room had a great view out over the town. The onsen was clean and quiet. The free snacks and drinks in the lounger felt generous. They let us store our luggage safely while we went to the monkey park.

Check in was incredibly easy and they offered free soba between 8 and 9pm. Parking was very easily accessed and spacious. The onsen was wonderful with both indoor and outdoor soaking baths. Outdoor is super hot, which we enjoyed. I didn't see any signs about no tattoos and nothing was said at check in, so that was great for us. The bath tubs in the room were nice deep soaking ones. Soap, shampoo and conditioner all smelled good. The sleeping mats were comfortable enough for a one night stay and there were extra available if you wanted extra padding. The heat worked well in the room. We had a great view of town from our room and the roof top terrace was nice to go up to and enjoy the views there, just be careful if it's snowing, it's slippery (duh). It was a very nice stay, a bit pricey, but for one night in Nagano our family enjoyed it. There are also lots of places to eat around the hotel, but hard with a big party (7). We ended up at a snack bar drinking and singing karaoke and then got dinner at Lawsons afterward :) The hotel is close to many Nagano attractions.

I would have liked a coffee option in the room, There were only tea packets. We did not call and ask for any other options since there is a Lawsons very close. We didn't reserve breakfast with our reservation either. The walls are thin so you can hear doors opening and closing and voices, which means everyone can hear you too. None of this would prevent us from staying again.

Absolutely amazing hotel a short distance from the train station (but not loud at all). Beautiful views, spacious rooms, and indoor and outdoor onsens! The onsens were open for most of the day and shut at midnight which is great for people who get back late from day’s activities like us - even started to snow one night while outside in the onsen which was magic! There were also free soba noodles provided at night and tea and coffee in the day, friendly service, and very comfy beds. I already want to stay again!
