The property is on the water’s edge, just across a quiet public lane. There are only three rooms, of minimalist design but cosy and comfortable. Each room looks out onto a little pool that is very well maintained. Our hosts, Masashi and his wife, were delightful and could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The small staff were just as lovely. Masashi is an experienced snorkelling guide and has lots of local tips. You can also borrow snorkelling gear at no charge. Both breakfast and dinner when we stayed were Western style food and just delicious. They will serve you on your verandah or in the little dining area. Dinner was accompanied by free-flowing drinks (starting from 5.30pm for happy hour!) including a very decent Australian Shiraz and Chilean sparkling wine,, The rooms have a small fridge, hairdryer and lots of electric sockets. The bathroom has twin sinks and a shower. There is actually an open air bath for each room on the roof, where you can sit and enjoy the view whilst bathing! Boiling water for tea and coffee is available from the little reception area - no kettle in the room. All in all it was a fabulous couple of days on this quiet, beautiful island. Highly recommended.

The beds were a little soft for us but that’s just our preference.

Upon arriving to Blue Suite Hanmuro, my wife and I were blown away by the location. Simply stunning. Shortly after meeting the local staff, we were given access to our room which was brilliantly well designed, superbly clean and comfortable and we were made to feel at home instantly. The care, attention and also food served was beyond our wildest dreams! Absolutely one of the best places we have ever stayed ... ever!

All staff were extremely friendly and communicated well with us. They came and picked us up and dropped us back to the ferry. Rooms were tidy, there are only 3 which we didn't know so that was a real bonus The pool was fantastic and the only one we encountered on our 3 week holiday in Japan. The beaches were great and the sealife was topnotch. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and it had to be the best place to stay in Aka! The food was fantastic also. Highly recommend

Unique and unforgettable experience. One of a kind accommodation on an island of 230 people. It is not for those that are looking to party or nightlife with big crowds. The setting is very personal and intimate. We have no complaints. Our host went above and beyond for us and we would stay here ten times over. If you're looking for something secluded or a once in a lifetime experience, this is the place to be.

I always fear giving recommendations for our favorite little hotel because I don't want it to become too popular! The owners are amazing, and the stay is always comfortable with beautiful views and delicious breakfast and dinner included. We stay at Blue Suites once or twice a year to have a getaway and enjoy the diving and nature on Akajima.

There is nothing I did not like. The owners and staff are so kind and helpful and the beds are comfortable. The little pool is lovely for relaxing.

This is one of the most incredible places I have ever stayed in the most incredible setting. The hosts were incredible people I felt so welcomed. The booking includes breakfast and dinner and each meal was sensational, such niche and intricate dishes which really stimulated the palette. The island was a sanctuary, so peaceful, with wild dear roaming around, hardly any tourists and the most stunning beaches and viewpoints. I would highly recommend staying here, it was very much worthwhile.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The location was great with beautiful views of the beach. The staff were so lovely and helpful both before and during our stay. They provided an excellent guide on snorkelling around the island and also lent us snorkelling masks and wetsuits to use. The food was also delicious. We would highly recommend staying here!

The property is a small ( only 3 rooms) building facing the beach that has a slightly contemporary feel compared to more traditional guesthouses in the village. I love minimalist buildings , my kind of place. Cool but with a friendly laid back feeling.

I honestly cannot find any fault , will definitely be coming back.

The staff were incredibly sweet, picking us up upon arrival, offering us coffee and juice, and a place to store luggage until check-in. Both the 4 course dinner and breakfast were delicious. Unlimited drinks during dinner too ;) The room was simple, cool, and very clean.

The cost was a bit pricey, leading us to only book one night.

I loved the position, the roof terrace with amazing view and bathtubs, the bathroom with double sink, the food with free alcohol from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, the staff (super kind), the privacy, bike rentals and the extra checkout time. Aka island is truly a small treasure for people who loves nature and silence, our honeymoon was really special.

A washlet could be really a very nice feature, we missed it. There was just one pillow for each one and a bit too hard.
