This property is entirely unique. A stone’s throw from bustling Pantai Tengah, it is amazing how detached you can feel from the rest of the world when nestled in your canopy up in the rainforest. I came here for much needed relaxation after lots of travel, and Ambong delivered! It was so serene to sit on my terrace overlooking the distant water, watching the hornbills and monkeys. Breakfast was delicious and I also enjoyed dinner both nights at the Rimba restaurant. I also enjoyed a massage at the spa, and highly recommend it! The real cream of this experience was the staff who were so very kind and attentive. I will be back!

Liked absolutely everything. This place is stunning. The service is out of this world - we were told that during our stay the staff were our second family and to rely on them entirely. They took us to a local laundry, recommended a scooter hire place and then took us there and were always on hand. The food was delicious - the vegan breakfasts were to die for. The monkeys and wildlife were a joy to watch. We just felt completely and utterly relaxed during the stay and in fact we ended up staying longer because we loved it so much. The people who own this place are clearly people who have travelled and the little touches are all there.

I liked it all but be warned that the rooms are up a very steep hill with steps. The staff team provide a vehicle to transport you up to your room whenever you need it and it is so needed. The humidity makes that walk a real struggle.

Our stay at Ambong Ambong Resort was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like family, welcoming, warm, and incredibly helpful. My partner had a skiing injury, and the team went above and beyond, offering assistance without hesitation. They drove us around the resort with genuine care and kindness, making our stay even more comfortable. A special mention to Lee, Shifa, and Sherman, who were absolutely outstanding in their hospitality. The dining experience was equally impressive. Both restaurants served delicious, well-prepared dishes with a wide variety of options. The view from the top of one of the restaurants was simply breathtaking, definitely a highlight of our trip. The resort itself is a tranquil haven, surrounded by lush greenery and immersed in nature. Waking up to the sounds of birds and spotting monkeys in the trees added to the charm of the place. It's the perfect retreat for those looking to unwind in a peaceful, natural setting. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend Ambong Ambong Resort to anyone visiting Langkawi.

The atmosphere and the quirkiness. The willingness of the staff to make our stay more personal and look after us. (They remembered what we had to drink the day before). I liked the uniqueness of all the buildings and not being in a large chain hotel. I liked that drinking water was not in plastic containers. The breakfasts especially the vegan option was beautifully presented.

Not as much wildlife as I expected. Road Noise. Children at breakfast in a part of the resort where I didn't think there would be children. (no children on the retreat side of the resort was a feature that appealed). Quite hard to get transport, especially from the retreat. The access is challenging for vehicles, which may be why grab transport is not readily available. Getting to and from the room improved our fitness although staff were always willing to provide car transport around the property if available.

The staff at Ambong are always willing to help and always check that everything is to your liking. The resort is ideal for people wanting a relaxing time, its location is on the edge of the town resulting in a peaceful setting, with easy access to the facilities of the town if required. We were particularly pleased with the food on offer at the Rimba restaurant, well formed local dishes at reasonable cost served by nice staff. The staff when they had time were happy to talk and offer advice on the resort and surrounding area. The car service to your room was welcome, as the resort is set on a hill.

The sun beds could have been more comfortable, as they were a bit thin on padding.

Ambong Rainforest Retreat is the best hotel I have EVER stayed at. I received a very warm welcome upon arrival before being shown around my room. There are a lot of good quality toiletries provided and plenty of tea, coffee and soft drinks. The little extras such as the chocolate cake in the room were a nice touch. There is yoga every morning (except Thursdays) which is free for in house guests. Definitely recommend and the views are beautiful. The breakfast at Pegaga (served 8am-11am) is amazing. You can also eat at their sister restaurant, Rimba. At Pegaga vegan, the breakfast is fresh and there is a varied selection. The smoothie bowls and avocado toast were my favourites. As a pastry chef, I recommend having dinner here if you get a chance, the food is very good. Most mornings we saw the monkeys swinging in the trees next to the restaurant, which I loved. It's a perfect retreat if you like nature but still want to be close enough to enjoy activities/beaches. I was very sad to leave, especially after making friends with all the wonderful staff here. They do an amazing job and it shows that they care!

Amazing place in the middle of 'jungle' with super friendly staff! We have never felt ourselves as welcome as here! Great facilities with fascinating nature around you. Very good breakfast with lots of choices and good service (especially the older guy at the Rimba restaurant - sorry don't know the name!). Nice little pool area and herb garden (thanks a lot for the personal tour Raja - the gardener). The place also offered transportation and help with car parking.

Our family missed a bit more comfortable sofa system in the living room - it would have been nice to spend some time there together as the bed rooms with more comfortable sofas are located in different floors.

Beautiful location, very quiet and remote but close to Pantai Cenang (and its many restaurants). Access to sister property including shuttle service. Despite the relatively small size of the property, we usually had the space to ourselves (e.g. pool, restaurant etc) and at most, shared it with one another couple. Property is generally kept clean, and the two times a day room service (10 a.m and 6 p.m) were punctual, efficient and always provided for refills (I.e. water, coffee, soda etc). Phenomenal massages, highly recommended. We did this in the context of the « Everlasting memories » package which we would recommend to all, great value for money. The afternoon tea is almost a lunch!

Although the staff is very friendly and not all speak English. Not a real negative but, access to the rooms by foot means climbing a small but steep hill which should be kept in mind - a shuttle service is provided upon request. Pool area is small and the chairs are decent which could result in unavailability of chairs during high season. We did not have this issue as noted above but, as there are only 6 chairs this could be a real issue.

What a lovely stay! The resort is nestled in the jungle so you feel like you’re the only ones on the island. I believe all the rooms have a view of the sea, so even our jungle studio had a glance at the stunning blue amongst the forest green. I was lucky enough to watch 5-6 dusky leaf monkeys playing around the room in the morning before breakfast. So cute, and an awesome experience. The resort is on a hill (all of it), even to get from the reception to your room you have an option to ask for a lift (all very easy and arranged via WhatsApp). There is also a restaurant with views (where we chose to have breakfast as they serve non-vegan options), this is at another resort technically but it’s a 10 min walk (with those hills) or couple of minutes drive when arranged with the staff. The staff are amazing, best hospitality we’ve experienced. Very attentive, happy to give recommendations (or a herb garden tour), and even help us out when we had issues with our onwards travel. Shout out to the manager, front desk staff and my herb garden tour guide! The airport is 20ish minutes away and costs around 20RM one way. The resort is also very close to the jetty - we’d highly recommend this as an activity. It’s very reasonably priced. We asked the staff for their recommendation on the operator, and arranged a pick up via WhatsApp - all very smooth. You of course can’t miss the sky bridge too (but be prepared for the price - it’s unlike any other attractions in Malaysia). I wish we stayed longer in Ambong and explored a little bit more of the island!

We mainly booked this place as it has a vegan restaurant and vegan breakfast options. Room included mini bar with free alcohol free drinks, tea and coffee and cows milk which was not possible to change for oat or soy milk (which I think is a bit odd if you advertise to be vegan friendly). The pool is very tiny and directly behind the reception area so didn't use it. It looks bigger on the pictures. The room itself was very nice, spacious and very clean. The included breakfast was amazing and we even got some to go on our check out day as we had to leave very early. Very quite at night and comfortable bed. Be prepared for lizards and insects :)
