The Vilu Residence facility exceeded our expectations. The property manager Rai and the entire staff made us feel like special and welcome guests (from the moment we arrived from Male to the moment we left). Their level of empathy and anticipation of our expectations and preferences can be compared to staying at a 5 star resort. The staff, at our request, completely planned and provided us with several excursions to neighbouring islands (including Dhigurah, Dhiddhoo and Fenfushi). When staying at Vilu Residence, it is worth booking the additional excursions offered by the property: dolphin watching, swimming with whale sharks and swimming with sea turtles on the reef. Their price is moderate and adequate. The facility is new, incredibly clean and ergonomic (everything is in its place). Wifi and air conditioning worked perfectly. Once out of the room, guests have exclusive use of the intimate and elegant patio (which makes the space available to guests much larger). The bikini beach is about a 5-minute walk away. The excellent breakfasts served directly by Rai are to be commended (in particular the slightly spicy original Maldivian-style breakfasts). Standard continental-style breakfasts are also available. The island of Maamigili itself is a good location in terms of transport (airport, regular ferry connections to other islands and about 1 hour and 45 minutes by speed boat from Malé (making the cost of getting from Malé lower and shorter than to other more distant atolls). I wholeheartedly recommend Vilu Residence and Rai. We will definitely be returning.

In general, the facility has no downside :) The only thing missing from my room was the side nightstands on both sides of the bed, but I know the facility has already ordered them :)

I spent 2 weeks on Maamigili Island in this residence. I can recommend accommodation here for the following reasons: - cleanliness, the hotel is new - Very good price - breakfast - is to choose your preferences in terms of ingredients (pancakes, omelette, oatmeal, fruit and others) - communication with employees at a high level. -The hotel manager Rai is available throughout the holiday and helped me achieve a relaxing holiday without any complications

The island has guest (bikini) beach, which is beautiful and is cleaned every day. However, some remaining parts of the beach are polluted and I have been assured by local residents that this will be improved

I spent 7 nights at Vilu Residence and can strongly recommend this guesthouse to anyone who wants to discover the incredible beauty of the Maldives off the beaten track of island resorts. Here, you will have the comfort, peace, and charm of going as local as you can. The guesthouse is run by an extremely helpful and friendly host, who will provide you with the most detailed advice about the restaurants on the island; he will also assist you in organizing day trips and outings from the island. Rai will go out of his way to accommodate your needs. He met me on arrival and took me to the airport before I flew back to Malé. He also arranged my transfers to and from the island by speed boat and plane. The breakfast provided was delicious and fulfilling. It was also varied, giving me a choice and taste of continental and Maldivian options. The guesthouse itself is new, clean, and well equipped. The staff look after it thoroughly. The village has 2 amazing beaches, one of which - the guest beach - is a perfect place for relaxation and exercise. If I could, I would return to Villu Residence for a retreat, combining work and rest. If you have not decided yet on where to stay in the Maldives, you should select this accommodation.

My boyfriend & I stayed at Vilu Residence for 16 nights and our experience could not have been better. This place is an incredible value. The level and quality of service was resort-like, and far beyond what we were expecting for the price. Sparkling clean and comfy rooms, super comfortable beds & high quality bedding, delicious homemade breakfasts every morning, walking distance to the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen in my entire life at the Bikini Beach, close to a few great restaurants (The Chef was our favorite), super fun high quality excursions at great prices, all hosted by the most wonderful sweet family. We really could not have asked for more and will definitely plan to return. The excursions we did were: whale shark snorkeling, manta snorkeling, big game fishing (which included cooking a delicious fresh fish dinner at Vilu later that night), and the sand bank tour. I loved that all of the beach and snorkel equipment we needed was provided and beach towels were always available. I would recommend all of the excursions, but especially the sand bank tour. It was so beautiful, dreamlike, and memorable. Thank you so much Rai & family for an incredible first experience in Maamigili. Can’t wait for our next stay at Vilu!

Like most tropical destinations, Maamigili has a lot of mosquitoes. Luckily, we only got bitten outside - we never had issues with mosquitoes inside of our room. The staff at Vilu did everything possible to help control the mosquitoes in the outdoor areas, and provided plenty of bug spray. I just recommend being aware of mosquitoes and bringing your favorite repellant on your trip. Can’t think of any other issues to note.

Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. Easy to contact at anytime via WhatsApp. Tried very hard to accommodate requests. I needed a gluten free breakfast (not really a thing that is common for this island and they provided maldivian breakfast without the bread, eggs, fruit and yoghurt. Hosts organised a day trip to Centara Grand Resort, and 2 snorkelling tours, reasonable prices for excursions (especially since it was only me on the 2 snorkelling trips!). Air conditioning worked well, comfy bed. Nice quiet friendly island, lovely water and beach. Glorious sunsets.

Be aware this is a local island not a tourist island and it is very quiet. You might be eating as the only diner in a restaurant if you go after 7pm. You also cannot really swim out to the reef from the tourist beach it's too far out. No fridge in the rooms. Boat ride is efficient and pleasant, although noisy due to being a speed boat and it can be bumpy if it's choppy, but there are also flying fish to watch jumping out of the wake :)

An oasis in Maamigili, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were made to feel like a VIP guests. The experience was wonderful. Rai Bob and Rafi ensure you want for nothing during your stay at Villa residences We were greeted at the ferry terminal and taken to our accommodation where we received a welcome drink and cold towels to freshen up with.. Rai introduced the island to us, explained the different excursions that they could offer and arrange for us and send us a great deal of information via WhatsApp so that we could read and digest at our leisure. The reception area and the courtyard which really double as the dining area and social area is immaculate. Well maintained in terms of the foliage, we understand that there was a lot of mosquitoes last year and having spoken to returning guests we know that the number is now significantly reduced. What was nice though is the fact that there is anti-mosquito spray on all tables and provided in all rooms, an indication that they’re thinking about the guests and their needs. The mosquitoes were not a problem during our stay. After a welcome we were shown to our room which was nicely chilled. Thanks to the very efficient air conditioning unit. The bed was decorated with petals, which was a lovely touch. The room was spacious well fitted out clean and smelt fresh. The room has a really comfortable double, with white cotton sheets and, always a bonus, two pillows per person! Our room had a ‘ welcome’ fruit bowl, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities fresh and bottled chilled water was provided each day. The room was serviced to a high standard every daily. We enjoyed watching the television in our room as well as listening to the music on the television in reception area and the reels of marine life that were sometimes playing, very relaxing. After we checked in, we were taken on a complimentary island tour which helped us to orientate ourselves to the island.

From the very beginning we were made to feel so welcome. The family and staff couldn’t do enough for us - it was like staying with friends. They collected us from the airport, treated us to a mini trip round the island and dropped us off at a restaurant that served delicious soup. In the morning, at our request, we were given a lovely breakfast beautifully laid up in our room. Rai the owner was easy to contact via WhatsApp if we needed anything. The property itself wasmodern and very attractive. It was just a shame we were only there for one night before boarding a boat.

Vilu Residence is a new family-run guest house on Maamigili Island. The guys running the place are putting their heart and souls into excellent customer service. They are super fast at responding to messages, booked us our domestic flights and all transportation, organized a whale shark excursion (yes, we swam with a whale shark!), and even brought me a bedside table when I mentioned I prefer to have one. The bikini beach is nice, with free public loungers, benches, and shade, and it's a 3 minute walk away. If you are staying on Maamigili because of the domestic flight location, to see whale sharks, or just to explore the island, Vilu Residence is definitely the best place to stay.

Trust all the positive reviews here, like I did, and you'll have an amazing stay here. There's not much to do on the island of Maamigili besides diving or snorkeling, but this hotel made my time on this island simply fantastic. I came here after a 5-star resort, and honestly didn't notice any difference in the quality of service :) Everything, from communication in the chat, organizing transfers to and from the island, absolute cleanliness and coziness of the room, was simply top-notch. The guys help with all questions, solve all problems, are extremely caring and friendly to their guests, and just great guys to talk to and be around. They'll advise, assist, organize, feed, and transport you. I'm honestly in love with this place and can confidently recommend it again and again.
