I had an unfortunate change in plans for my Maldives trip thanks to thunderstorms that kept me on the capital island instead of one of the other atolls. I booked Sala last minute while stuck under a building ledge to keep me from the rain. Thomas, one of the co-owners, immediately reached out to me to see where I was and sent one of his workers to bring me a big umbrella and helped me carry my luggage to the hotel through the flooded streets of Male. I was so grateful. The hotel was beautiful, cozy, and the room was perfect. I was so incredibly happy for a hot shower. Breakfast is included free of charge and was an amazing spread of baked goods (croissants, bread), eggs made any way requested, cured meats and cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice. I particularly loved the fresh fruit! Rose, the other co-owner, was super sweet and kind throughout my stay, giving me tips for things to see, placed to get certain goods, and helped me book a cab back to the airport (also included free of charge!). The hotel is a little pricier but well worth the cost for the luxury, the tasty breakfast, and the wonderful staff!

Firstly, to be met at the airport and taxi'd to the hotel was reassuring for a Male first-timer. Even at midnight, the roads were hectic with a million scooters zipping everywhere. On arrival at Sala, Rose and Thomas were excellent and attentive guests. Though rustic, the room was very clean and comfortable and had everything needed for a good night's sleep. It was very quiet given it's urban location. Even though a busy area, Sala was off the main road that several of the hotels are on. We were too late for dinner, but i look forward to returning to try Sala Thai restaurant. The breakfast was outstanding: fresh fruit, yoghurt, a selection of fresh breads, coffee and juice in a dining setting.

So happy we stayed at the Sale Boutique Hotel while in Malé! Rose and Thomas are very hospitable and attentive owners, taking care of all our airport transfers and making sure we got to/from the jetty for our trips to the islands. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is incredibly generous and delicious, rooms are very comfortable and well equipped, strategically located for easy walking to all key attractions. Beach towels also provided if you feel like heading to the nice public beach just a short walk away. Highly recommended!! 

Highly recommended. Great stay on many levels. Flew into Male mid afternoon during a major rainstorm. The hotel had sent a hotel employee to great us and get us a taxi to the hotel. With the storm flooding the town streets and the airport at capacity of incoming flights the taxi wait was 1.5 hours. We would have been at a loss of what to do if not for the hotel who know how to get in line and then got us to the hotel. Then our resort gave us conflicting information on when our flight was. Thomas the owner was very helpful in contacting the resort to help get it sorted out. We then had to depart at 6am and Thomas called us a taxi which got us to the airport for our new flight. Oh, the room was very nice. A/C worked great, plenty of hot water, comfy bed, fast enough Wi-Fi and as other reviews have said, an excellent Thai restaurant right downstairs. Glad we booked it for another night when we return from the resort.

The Sala Boutique Hotel is an oasis amidst the busy town of Male. Upon entering into the quiet and well appointed courtyard one feels relaxed and astonished by its tranquility. Thomas, the owner personally welcomes each guest.and great attention to detail is visible everywhere. The rooms, garden restaurant, and the lovely staff make your stay one to remember. Breakfast is plentiful and served european-style in the beautifully designed Venetian-themed dinning room. Hotel arranged for airport Pick-up/drop-off We will definitely return on our next visit to Male.

It is impeccably clean, with no noise disturbances, providing a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation. The mattress, linens, pillows, and even the toilets were of the highest standard, reflecting the hotel's commitment to quality and guest comfort. A highlight of our stay was the complimentary breakfast, which was both delicious and thoughtfully prepared. 5 star service!! The hosts Thomas and Rose are professional, friendly and very helpful, from the moment we arrived at the property we felt like we were getting the royal treatment. The rooms are simple but elegant and the furniture choices are top notch. The whole staff has an incredible knack of anticipating your wishes and is as professional as any 5 star hotel or resort we’ve stayed in. The hotel has an amazing Thai restaurant with superb food with an extensive menu. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had in many years of traveling around the world. Well done!!! Also WiFi is very fast!

The on-site Thai restaurant is a must-try, serving some of the best dishes in town. A perfect choice for travellers seeking comfort, charm, and exceptional hospitality.

Nothing to dislike.

The owners of the hotel are very professional and attentive. The owner greeted our taxi on arrival, (we had a return taxi to the hotel as part of our booking), took our bags and checked us in to our room. We had a really delicious and authentic Thai meal in the hotel restaurant before heading off to our room for the night. Lovely big and comfortable bed and tea and coffee facilities in the room and very clean. We were greeted with freshly brewed coffee downstairs the following morning whilst the owners called us a taxi to the airport. Breakfast was included but it was a little early for us so we declined, however various options were offered ie fruit or yoghurt instead, but we declined. Lovely hotel, very convenient for the airport and very attentive owners who clearly take great great pride in their hotel and authentic (and popular) Thai restaurant. We would definitely stay again.

There was a glass panel above the door to our room and there was a light bulb outside the door in the corridor. It made the room quite bright at night. Maybe a little curtain across this glass panel would stop the light shining into the room, or some boarding over the glass panel would make the room darker. It may not bother some people but we both like our room to be dark at night.

Do yourself a favor and fly into Male a day early and spend a night at Thomas and Rose's little Oasis in downtown Male. You'll be whisked right away from the chaos at the airport and sent in a taxi (included in the price) and Thomas will be there waiting for you when you step out. How the two of them have been able to create this lovely little guesthouse (and Thai restaurant) in the midst of the general dilapidation in Male is a great mystery. Between the lovely Thai dinner (extra) and the real German breakfast (included) it's just not to be missed. And as an added extra the ride back to the airport is also included in the price and you'll be able to get an earlier flight to your resort. Go spend a night!
