An extremely cozy hotel, stylishly decorated with ornaments and items linked with the indigenous cultures of Chiapas. We loved the fireplace. Guests get one set of firewood with a box of matches and some thin planks to start the fire. You can purchase more firewood for extra warmth and atmosphere. During our stay in late December, we needed 3 sets of firewood in the evening as the room was quite cold. The view to the garden was tranquilizing and thanks to the position of the room, it was very quiet. We parked the car safely in the street of the hotel. Also, it’s good that access to the hotel and museum is controlled by the reception staff and the security guard. By no means did we feel unsafe while in SanCristobal de las Casas, yet it was reassuring that strangers were not allowed on the property. The house built in a colonial style is charming and intimate. Following the tradition started by Gertrude and Frans Blom, the Lacandon women are given an opportunity to sell on the central patio some craft products made by them.

In of the rooms where we stayed bathroom installations could be renovated: the hot bathtub is somewhat aged. It’s a beautiful tradition that guests have dinner together at a long communal table in the stylish dining room. However, the menu for Christmas dinner was not really satisfactory. Small portions, dry fish filet with champignons, meals not really adequate for this special occasion.

I loved the room. It had a beautiful view of the large garden. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The hotel is a museum and full of interesting objects and histories. It has beautiful spaces to relax in. The location, just out of the Centro, is an advantage as it is quiet at night. It is still in walking distance to resaurants, the markets and the Centro.

The breakfasts are good if you are only staying a few nights, but we were there a week and the menu is very limited

Staying at Na Bolom has enriched our experience in San Cris. All the rooms in the historical house are different, characterized by their own style. It also has a peaceful garden. The museum is really worth it and the story of Gertrude and Mr. Blom is very interesting, providing a broad historical perspective on the region and indigenous people. I highly recommend to stay over weekends to enjoy the great concerts held each Sunday morning by local musicians and the delicious buffet breakfast. Supporting such a great project, which employ locals and connect guests with indigenous, it's the best action we can do as travellers. Absolutely recommended.

This hotel is an anthropologist’s, historian’s, sociologist’s dream come true! The museum/hotel is full of history, aesthetics, life, and hospitality. It is located some 10 to 12 minutes away, on foot, from the centre square. It is quiet and adequately away from the sounds of cars and traffic on the streets. Our room was next to the dining space, so you could hear some sounds and staff activity by 6 or 7 am, but it was tolerable. The fireplace costs 50 Pesos per use, although reception kindly waived the fee for using it twice during check out. The room is super cozy, like a cottage in the woods. The shower is hot—if it isn’t, you can ask reception to address it. The hotel’s restaurant is very inexpensive. Breakfast for two, for instance, cost approximately $10 to $13 CAD for two people. The coffee is refilled for free. Guests get 10% discount at the restaurant, and the food is homestyle and thus, very comforting. The hotel houses a museum of its owners and researchers, thereby deepening your relationship to the hotel, Chiapas, San Cristobal, and its indigenous peoples. I highly recommend this hotel and I think, without a doubt, that this was the best hotel I stayed in during my two week stay in South Mexico.

The staff and the location are perfect for us. The ambiance is wonderful. Short stays of 2-3 days are probably best. Lodging in a living museum is unique.

Run by a board of directors, the historic facility is aging a bit—though maintenance is adequate. The city has grown very busy outside the facility on a major thoroughfare. Some rooms are very dark. Second visit, length of stay one week. Some Spanish is a must.

The place is truly amazing, you’re not just staying in a museum-like setting, but also supporting the local Indigenous culture, as it’s run by a kind and dedicated community cooperative. The architecture is stunning, giving you the feeling of traveling back in time. On top of that, the place is very comfortable, with a spacious and beautiful green area where you can relax and enjoy nature.

This is not a hotel, it is a museum, and so much more. A truly magical experience. On a chilly night having the caretaker come in to light the fire in your fireplace... so cool. Accommodations were simple and lovely, service was as if we were in a 5 star hotel. Wander the organic garden and tge wooded foot trails.

Minor: not a lot for food past a certain hour in the immediate vicinity. This is not to discourage anyone but simply to encourage them to plan ahead a little bit locating places that look interesting and assume you might walk several blocks for dinner. Again, service was stellar and they were willing to go get food for my friend who was sick.

The room was beautiful. High wooden ceiling, unique, rustic furnishings, view to garden. Staff were very friendly, professional, helpful and kind. Nice shower with hot water.

Wifi was very inconsistent and we couldn’t get cell data on our phones in this location so this was frustrating for us. The location isn’t bad, but in retrospect I would have preferred to be closer to the main tourist street and zocalo. I felt a little uneasy walking back to the hotel at night. Not a big deal for us but I thought the restaurant on the premises would be open for dinner but it wasn’t.

The unique and private athmosphere of the place was really special. This place is a bit like a svares time capsule.

Communication could be better (we only speak English), and we missed a small fridge, but then again. The place is so special that you wouldn’t really want for it to chance. It is a consevationist project and you wouldn’t expect current time luxury in a place like this.

Staff around the clock so it’s very safe and easy to come in and out, the whole building is really cute, breakfast served in the patio was really nice. Rooms are big and nicely decorated - place has lots of character.

The shower semi works, and it’s all quite basic, which is what you pay for, but would not recommend for more than a couple of days if you want to be comfortable. Quite a lot of bugs / spiders in the room
