This is a hotel with extreme attention to inspiring design and large, very comfortable rooms. Music in the rooms offered by personal pick-up and LPs, quite nice. No television, who needs it. The inner courtyard has several very nice spots to relax with a drink and nice snack food. Except for occasional street noise, this hotel is top.

The hotel is located in an area of San Juan de las Casas with a lot of traffic in the morning and evening and sometimes noisy neighbors. That can be fixed with the right choice of rooms and the hotel staff was very helpful in that respect (luckily we were there in low season). Surprisingly, many staff members don't understand even basic English, but that was easily fixed by other guests willing to translate or colleagues able to communicate in English.

The exceptional service that the staff provided was unbeatable. Amazing staff is what made this hotel 5/5. They made sure that all my needs and wants are met down to the smallest of details. They assisted me in booking my whole itinerary for this trip (Private transport and Private guide). All I had to do was show up and enjoy. The room was tranquil and grand. We had booked the presenditial suite and it was the best decision. The layout, furniture and down to the decorations were meticulously thought of and you can tell! The pictures doesn't do it justice. The staff again made sure, we came home to a clean room, with our bed made, soft music playing in the background, curtains drawn and always fresh towels. Truly amazing room! This room looks like a spa and will be taking inspiration for my own when I get back.

Amazing staff! It truly made our stay here spectacular. They made sure all my needs and wants were taken care of down to the smallest of details. They helped me book my transportation and private tour prior to my arrival, so all I had to do was show up and enjoy. My room was always cleaned every day, blinds open/shut according to time of day, and the deep soak in the tub was just right after my long day of hiking. The toiletries smelled amazing, and the coffee was superb first thing in the morning. The room looks like a spa and will be taking inspiration for my own personal room back home.

We loved our stay at Taller de Juan. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive from the very beginning, the location is perfect for exploring San Cristóbal on foot, and the hotel itself is a gem — filled with greenery, beautiful spaces, and a clear attention to detail in every corner. The bed was super comfortable, we slept so well. We also had a hot stone couple’s massage that was amazing! deeply relaxing. The coffee and amenities were another highlight. You can tell everything is thoughtfully designed to offer an intimate, aesthetic, and special experience. We would absolutely come back.

There was a bit of street noise since our room faced directly toward the road, but it’s completely understandable given the location and it didn’t affect our overall experience. We would absolutely come back.

We have the privilege to stay one week in the “presidential / owners” suite and it was incredible! The room was spacious and small details made it extra special; record player, large picture books of Mexico, evening turn down service w delicious cookies, mini French press to make coffee and so many more details. The bathroom was large and the huge windows were treat to enjoy the view. The staff was very friendly and spoke English well. They were happy to build us a fire in the evening and help with any other small detail. The staff sent me a WhatsApp message as soon I made the booking and they assisted me to set up several day trips with a private driver. All the activities went smoothly and the driver was safe and friendly. The location was amazing. Several top restaurants within blocks and the main strip of bars and shops (no cars) was just a short walk. Lastly, the hotel was plastic-free! The room was free small cosmetic bottles and they provided fresh water in glass carafes each day. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but enjoyed drinks and small appetizers served by the very welcoming staff.

My husband and I had an absolutely amazing stay at Taller de Juan. The location is ideal and walkable to some of the best parts of San Cristobal, and the facilities were stunning. The interiors, art, decor, and bonus record player in our room really helped us have a wonderful place to relax in-between our daily explorations. The hotel and staff also helped us arrange transport and private tours around the surrounding area - we had a really moving day learning about the surrounding towns, culture, crafts, and food. Chiapas has so much to explore and I hope to return to San Cristobal and stay again at Taller de Juan

The staff (especially the girl/woman at the front desk) was very friendly! We got a welcoming drink and some fruit. In the evening they always put some little cookies on your pillow, very cute. In the morning you can make your own coffee in the room which is also great. The overall interior and outdoor sitting area are really nice and everything looks pretty and taken care of!

The matrass of the bed was a bit “sagged” in our opinion so we didn’t sleep very well + there was also quite alot of street noise (even with ear plugs). The first night the cocktails we drank were good and the girl who served us did a great job but the second night the guy who served us (well didn’t actually) kind of dismissed us and said he didn’t had what we wanted but didn’t offer to make something else, he didn’t bother but okay, maybe is wasn’t his day I dunno :D

Our stay in San Cristobal was magical, thanks in large part to the Taller de Juan and its wonderful staff. The hotel itself had a homey feel with the quirky art, the open-air garden seating and its fresh-air fragrance. The location was convenient to the historic town center. The cleanliness and "extra touches" like the half-moon cookies, complimentary tea and evening turn-down service were unexpected and much appreciated. Ximena, Rodrigo, Gleidy and the kitchen staff couldn't have been more accomodating, answering many questions and providing information on what to see and how to get there. We're looking forward to a return trip!

We kept bumping our heads on the hanging natural fiber lamp shades on either side of the bed. Other than that, I can't think of a thing.

Mr &Mrs Smith: Set behind thick walls in the style of buildings in San Sebastián - ie non de script one story Mexican style. wondered how on earth Mr and Mrs smith could ever sanction such an institution.. but inside was this beautiful hotel arranged around lush courtyard. The rooms were opulent and very comfortable with a superb shower and vanity cabinet etc. the hotel staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast although extra was excellent. I have had the best coffee here .
