The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location is AMAZING. The coffee bar/pastries was sweet unexpected treat in the mornings and the rooftop view was beyond gorgeous. The rooftop garden is very pretty and relaxing too. The rooms were very clean.

They gave us the wrong room so part of our group had to sleep on pretty small couches. We could not get a replacement light bulb for a broken lamp and you cannot actually swim in the pools because they are SO cold. The hallways upstairs a bit depressing as some junk laying around and no chairs to sit on.

Excellent and convenient location adjacent to Rio Cuale, just steps from the Malecon in "Centro" at border of "Zona Romantica". Enjoyed top floor 2 BR suite with equipped kitchen & wraparound balcony with lovely views, as requested. Room 603 was very nice. We loved the beautiful tree filled with wildlife and at least 7 nests, most with hatchlings, right across our balcony. Most staff pleasant & helpful, especially front desk "Fernando", Jocsan, and housekeeper Cristal. Overall good value with rustic Mexican charm. I would recommend a room with a balcony with view of river. We enjoyed our 11 night stay and would consider returning.

Older property in need of some updating & minor repairs. AC worked very well in bedrooms but other rooms tend to get a bit warm due to leaky insulation but opening bedroom doors with the ceiling fans helped. Wi-fi is spotty in some areas of suite. Beds are quite firm and without box spring but our sleep was fine. About half of staff did not speak English but that was not a problem for us as I spoke some Spanish. Rooftop has pleasant views but has only small shallow wading pools. Sister property has larger pool. Potable drinking water only available via tap on each floor.

Everything, and especially Jesus the concierge who was so attentive and available to answer any questions we had about Puerto Vallarta. The streets around the hotel are very quiet for city centre. Great sleeps in comfy clean large room.

Don’t expect a swimming pool on rooftop. Swim in the ocean and come back for a dip in the soaker pools on the rooftop. The view from the roof top is lovely with flower pots and tables and lounge chairs. Perfect for drinks and leisure relaxing.

Your paying for location. Great for family with small kids or older people. Has an elevator. Hot water. Pretty good AC. Walking distance to malecon and very safe at night. Receptionist was very helpful.

The suite that we got was very basic specially the bathrooms. There was a funky smell all weekend like insecticide. Dirty kitchen appliances. Jacuzzi was not working.

Good location. The comments below weren’t an issue for us but some guests may be looking at the photos of the rooftop area which are misleading.

Some of the property information and definitely photos are misleading. There is no hot tub/ jacuzzi, these are cool dipping pools. The pool is only about 12” deep, good for wading. There is no restaurant on the premises. There are no oceanfront balconies. Not writing this to be negative but to be helpful to others what is available.

Location was fantastic! The room was huge and well priced! It’s a super cute place with a lot of charm. Staff were mostly friendly.

There was no water in the room, ran out of toilet paper in one bathroom(we only stayed for a night), there was someone else’s hair in the bathroom and on my blanket (I have locs, this was fine straight hair) but other than that it was good.

The location near the Cuale River is beautiful as well as central to everything in the Romantic Zone and only a few minutes' walk from the malecón. We found our suite perfect for our needs for a week-long stay. The suite appeared to have been recently painted and bathroom and kitchen had clean, new-looking tiles. (If you plan to cook a fair amount you would probably need to invest a bit for dish towels, a mixing bowl, etc. We prepared only simple, uncooked items and used a drip coffee maker, toaster, microwave, fridge, dishes and utensils.) We really enjoyed our balcony where a large bougainvillea gave us privacy and birdwatching. The hotel and rooms are kept very clean as is the rooftop terrace with comfortable lounge chairs and shallow pools. The view is wonderful. There is drinking water from a faucet just down the hall from the suite. One of our priorities is cleanliness, but without the strongly-scented chemical products usually used for floors and laundering sheets and towels. To our great satisfaction, Suites Plaza del Rio manages to keep everything extremely clean without these toxic products. A special thank you to front-desk staff members Misael and Monica, and to Rocío, our housekeeping lady, for their professionalism as well as friendly, pleasant treatment of guests.

Wi-Fi is good everywhere in the suite except on the balcony. There is too much emphasis on making sure that nothing is missing from the suite. For example, we noted one small spoon was missing (there were supposed to be four of each utensil) and in order not to be charged for it when the 500-peso deposit is returned after inspection of the suite at the end of the stay, we let staff know right away we needed a replacement.

We really loved the suite and the location. The staff were great. Great value except for the 1 ft deep "swimming" pool.

We saw the picture of the pools and thought that we could swim, but in fact the pool is only 1 foot deep. I brought my goggles but alas my splash about in the pool was not to be. Other guests had the same impression and thought that they could swim.

Location was perfect. Easy walking to the malecon, Los Muertos and the Isla Cuale. Perfect location to walk to anything

The bed sucked. It was so hard I took chaise pads from the pool area to make beds a bit more comfortable. I met a lady who'd done the same thing. The single rooms that do not overlook the river are really noisy. Only the 2 room units face the river. The rest of the rooms face streets and are super loud .

We arrived a lot earlier than our Check-In time with all our luggage and was so pleased when the hotel asked if we wanted to leave our bags while we explored a little of the surrounding area. After checking in we found the huge room and balcony well kept, spotlessly clean, sanitised surfaces and floors adding which only added to us feeling lucky of finding such a warm welcome and maintained hotel. The maintenance is always on going and was lovely so see gardener’s cutting back and reporting trees and plant’s throughout our stay keep the rooftop immaculately. The main room has a dining area with large TV, full kitchen, super large American size fridge freezer, breakfast bar with lots of sockets and in addition to the dining table we loved the Mexican style cushioned seating. With a bathroom and shower with hot running water anytime of day and night between the main room and bedroom it gives privacy to the bedroom where I huge bed which was so comfortable I will be ordering one when we return home. The safe for valuables in the room and towels available from reception are free so we took full advantage. If you need to do some washing then the laundry is on the second floor which all the hot wings around the town I found handy to wash my white shirt I had worn the night before. The daily maid service of clean towels, bedding more sanitising was done with all the attention to detail one can’t help respect how hard everyone work to keep standard high in the hotel. With most of central PV on the doorstep its in a fantastic position to go and explore. Couldn’t fault it if we are doing this way again then we definitely be booking with you again .
