I absolutely loved the location of the hotel. It was situated in a serene and peaceful neighbourhood, which had a very sophisticated and upscale vibe. What's more, getting to the hotel from Amsterdam central station was a breeze. All I had to do was hop on the number 2 tram just outside the station and ride seven stops. Once I arrived, I found that the hotel was just a short walk away. The hotel's housekeeping was nothing short of exceptional. I stayed there for two nights, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that my room was cleaned to perfection each morning. It was evident that the staff took great pride in their work and paid close attention to detail. One of the highlights of my stay was the complimentary breakfast, which was a wonderful touch. I was spoilt for choice with the variety of options available, including boiled eggs, toast, brown and white rolls, cheeses, pork slices, apple and orange juice, teas, coffee, and hot chocolate. I even took advantage of the option to pack a lunch every morning, which included a couple of rolls, cheese, ham, and an egg. Overall, my experience at the hotel was exceptional, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates comfort, convenience, and exceptional service.

After spending a night at the hotel, I have to admit that I wasn't completely satisfied with the pillows provided. They were a bit too hard and uncomfortable, which caused some discomfort in my neck. However, apart from this minor inconvenience, I must say that everything else was absolutely spot on. The service was excellent, the room was clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Well done!

The location of this hotel is pretty nice. Vondelpark right next door is nice for strolls. There's plenty of food places nearby, and is also in a very quiet neighborhood. The walks to the tramways and busses are under 10 min. The hotel staff are friendly and accommodate a lot of things for you such as allowing to eat in the kitchen area with outside food outside of breakfast hours. The beds are on the firmer-end but were very comfortable. They had two twin-sized spring mattresses at the bottom with a foam double mattress on top. The price of the hotel more than makes up for the size and minor inconveniences of the room. Definitely felt more worth than paying double for hotels in downtown.

The rooms are indeed very tiny as advertized. We could barely fit two carry-on suitcases. Any more and you likely won't be able to open them. The bathroom lights are motion sensed, but keep turning off if you're sitting on the toilet or standing in the shower -- minor problem, but kinda annoying and finnicky.

It's an amazing location next to the park, but also far enough out of the centre that you're not surrounded by stag parties. It was about an hours lovely walk from the station, but there is also a tram stop nearby. Room was clean and comfy, with the air-conditioning being a blessed relief on the day when the temperature went up to around 30 degrees. Staff were friendly on the few times I interacted with them.

The breakfast was underwhelming. The croissants, bread and cereal were a bit stale and there was no variation. If I'd paid extra for it I would have been annoyed. The room service was also inconsistent, as the only time they came was around 5pm on my last day. That wouldn't normally bother me, but there was only a tiny bathroom bin. It would be easily sorted by putting a bigger one in the main room. My room was also quite small, but nothing that was a huge issue for a single.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Good location in a quiet neighbourhood only 5 minutes from a number 2 tram stop which gives easy access to the museum quarter and into the Centraal Station in about 25 minutes. 5 minutes walk to the Vondelpark with nice walks, parakeets, cafes and lots of cyclists! Rooms were small (as expected) but clean and nicely decorated with a comfortable double bed. We had a mini balcony which had a nice view of a small lake. 24 hour access to coffee/tea facilities and water and juice in the breakfast room was great. Breakfast was quite limited but plenty available and it was handy to have this on site before going out for the day.

Limited storage capacity in the room - only a few hooks for coats and a small open shelf unit. Bedside shelves not really big enough for more than a phone and a water bottle or a book. We didn't unpack our suitcases but just felt that for two people there wasn't much space to put anything down other than on the bed. In the bathroom there was only a small space for toiletries and two small hooks on the back of the door for towels. The movement sensor for the light in the bathroom was also a bit erratic!

It was a joy to spend a week at the Dutch Design Hotel. The neighbourhood is absolutely beautiful and we loved having rooms looking out over the little lake. There is a nice breakfast room downstairs where you can get complimentary drinks all day (coffee, tea, water, juice) and you can keep a limited number of your own food items in the fridge. The breakfast itself is nice. Other food options include going to the nearby Albert Heijn grocery store or a restaurant for takeout and eating at the hotel... or you can go have a picnic in the park. Walking through the neighbourhood and in the park was a huge pleasure, and we also rented the hotel's bikes many times and rode in Vondel Park as well as all over the city. The staff at the hotel is exceptional. Thanks to all of you for your kindness and help! We look forward to returning someday.

The elevator is small. Take the stairs!

Loved the location. A really nice residential road close to the park so the area was quiet at night. Only a 30 minute walk to Museum Square through the fabulous Vondelpark (off road, lovely park, nice bars, vibrant). Close to tram stop, less than 5 minute walk when we didn't have time to walk. Plenty of cafes & restaurants walkable for when we didn't want to go into the City Centre. Room was very clean. Staff very helpful. Able to help yourself to tea & coffee in the shared dining room was ok. Slightly random but the bathroom mirror was great - didn't steam up!

We've been to Amsterdam before & know hotel rooms are small but there was barely room around the bed for a suitcase. Not ideal for getting ready as couldn't step back from mirror.

The decor is fab, the bed is super comfortable, the bathroom is are great. Nice big TV. Sockets by the bed. I didn't have breakfast but I liked and made use of the always available and included coffee and juice. I also used the dining room for working. I was able to hire a bike when I got there, which wasn't the cheapest but definitely the most convenient option. The location right on the edge of Vondelpark is great. Also appreciated the use of technology for opening the doors but was good to have a backup key.

I was surprised how small the room was, and I also would really have liked a desk. However, the room was functional and comfortable and I was able to work downstairs so these are minor.

September 2024

The bed was really comfortable and fresh - both room and bathroom were clean. We really enjoyed the calm location; it's not in the city center (you need to either take public transport or walk through Vondelpark to get to the "inner" city), but that's the beauty of it too. It was super calm at night and we liked the location right next to the park. The complimentary breakfast was nothing special but it was a really nice-to-have. The staff was really friendly, we felt welcome and taken care of.

The room was really small - it was ok for us (close friends) for 2 nights, but for people who enjoy a tiny bit of privacy, I wouldn't recommend the smallest double room. The door to the bathroom is really thin, so you can hear everything through it. It was also really cold in the bathroom. Apart from those little details we felt great though - they really didn't spoil our stay.

- Polite and helpful staff - Good location - direct tram to the centre is 5 minutes away. Also, the park is at the doorstep. - Clean, nice shampoo in the shower - Good bed - Some free water Overall, it is good value for money by Amsterdam standards

- Room had no desk, if you are travelling for work - forget it - My room had some A/C-type noise all night; the only way to deal with it is to have another Heineken :) - No kettle in the room - I feel some reviews here are a little overhyped, but it's a decent and honest place to stay. It does what it says on the tin, but do not expect it to be a Dubai 5*+ level. Still, overall good stay and for the price I would return again

Room was quiet and clean, Shower was large and good. Residential location near public park was lovely. Local high street with access to cafes/restuarants/supermarket within a short walk.

Main room only had space for the bed, only one bedside "table" and a few shelves, so you had to sit on the bed and use the bed as a "work surface" to access suitcase contents etc, was a bit small for a 4 day stay. I was ok with the digital key on my phone, but I can imagine some folks will find that a bit difficult. Breakfast is a "standard continental" - was OK - nothing special. We ate out after the first day. Serveral local options.
