For the cheapest hostel in the area, it really exceeded my expectations! Or maybe I just had bad luck with hostels in the past. The employees? Oh man, so nice. I arrived before check-in and they let me leave my suitcases so I can go out and explore the city! The room was great, just enough that I could get a good night's sleep (air conditioner was on, perfect for this hot weather!). I also had a drink at the bar, nothing to complain about that either, the beer was cold and really good. The employees also let me stay in the lobby until the evening after check-out, because i was waiting for the bus! All my questions were answered and I had a really lovely night, if I ever somehow end up in Tilburg, I will definitely visit again.

My only complain would be about the smell in the showers, but it didnt impact my stay at all, as I stayed only for the night and took one quick shower.

I stayed in an all female room so it added to the feeling of safety. Hostel located literally 2-3 minutes from the station, perfect location. Loved the interiors, personal welcome (names of incoming guests written on a board upon arrival for a personal touch!).

The lift was out of order during my stay. I specifically requested a room on a floor level and a lower bed and got a room on the upper floor on the upper bed. I was told that my request didn't come through (I booked through booking so it might be that they did not pass the message on, cannot tell). The room card didn't always work so I had to walk several times up and down to get it re-activated. No air-co in the room, so it was extremely hot even with windows open.

Beds were insanely comfortable. I'd like to know the brand of pillows and mattress if possible. Location is great. Near the train station and the city center. We got to walk to several stores and restaurants nearby.

I was a little disappointed to find out out that there is no communal kitchen or refrigerator for the guests. We bought water and snacks and could not refrigerate it. Also our bathroom has not been cleaned for the last night of our stay, so there was no soap on the dispenser. There is also a sign warning guests that the hostel is not resposible for robbery in the rooms, but there are no lockers available in the rooms. So if another guest or staff takes anything from you, you can not complain. A little messed up I'd say.

The room and bed were comfortable, spacious, and clean. The hostel is in a really convenient location, close to bars and cafes in the centre of town and a stone's throw from the train station.

The kitchen facilities were lacking - a microwave and oven that can't both be plugged in at the same time, no cutlery (had to run down to the bar every time I needed a fork), and all behind a door that says 'staff only' (but is available for guests to use) and is locked after 9pm. There isn't really room or the facilities for more than one person to be in there at the same time.

Hostel Roots is a cozy little place smack in the middle of Tilburg, staffed with very friendly and helpful young people. Even with the amount of traffic it gets during the Roadburn weekend, the building was very clean and a great place to get some rest after a long and hard festival day.

More of a suggestion, but it would be great if the top bunk beds (in the dorm room) had some sort of a shelf and a more accessible extension cord to keep the phone up there and charging during the night.

This was our first night ever staying in a Hostel so we were not quite sure what to expect. We came here for a city trip through the Netherlands and were only in Tilburg for one night. All the staff were extremely nice and after having a chat with the friendly owner they even gave us a room upgrade. In the lobby you can see that they have received a lot of awards for being a great Hostel, and you can really tell how much love they put into it. Staff will have great recommendations for you on what to do and they also have amazing free city guides ("use it"). Since we staid there only for one night during a weekday in early January, it was pretty quiet, but we enjoyed the free pool table and board games in the lobby a lot. The room, location, and breakfast was all amazing and in fact so good that it got us thinking about wanting to do a Hostel trip. And if we do, we will be sure to stop by this one and hopefully get to check out one of their events!

Really nice place. Layout was super cool. Facilities seemed nice though I didn't check out the bar in the basement nor get to use the kitchen. I didn't get time to chat with my bunkmates either but everyone seemed really friendly. Beds were really comfy too, at least for me. I wasn't too bothered by the noise but I also thought it was amusing our room was attached to the shower room by a locked door, so you could hear people singing while they were showering, free entertainment! 🤣😂🤣

Rooms were a bit basic, would be nice to have a rack or hooks on the wall to hang up wet towels. Speaking of which, they should provide shower gel and shampoo in the showers, that would be nice.

Our room was very big, the bed was comfortable and the room itself looked very beautiful (we got one room at the corner with the tower). The staff was very, very nice and helpful, the whole hostel is very homey and comfy.

The only "bad" thing I could say was the smell of the showers. We had a room with shared bathroom and the shared showers were utterly wet and smelled like it. The toilets were clean though :)

Very friendly and welcoming staff, the hostel has a cosy comunity vibe to it. Very easy access with the key card, it made coming back late at night seamless. The lounging area is a cozy touch, and I also appreciated the bar from downstairs.

The number of showers/toilets, at least on the floor I stayed in: not enough for the amount of people staying at the same time ( I stayed in a 9 women dorm). Also, I find the price a bit steep for a stay in a 9pers. dorm.

Very nice Hostel, had all the advantages. Starting with the location, as it is close to the train station, the hostel service to a very good standard, as well as the breakfast, which is prepared for supper and served to the table. The rooms were clean and the rest to accept, as for such a cheap accommodation and stay in Tilburg.

I don't have anything else to cling to.
