Comfortable room with safe walking and lovely restaurant 20 min walk away. 10min walk to fabulous outdoor swimming pool. Plenty of safe parking.

Confusion with booking on arrival : owner stated he wasn’t expecting our dog, but I had evidence of messages with them regarding this to the point we paid for an upgraded room to accommodate the dog. Believed we had paid for breakfast and agreed 0800hrs would be ideal. Turning up at 0800hrs we were then told we had not paid for breakfast, but we could still have it if we paid extra. We elected not to. Booking.com were blamed, but I am not so sure….

The property is lovely and very welcoming, we got a nice introduction to the history of the building and the area from the owner upon arrival. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and also very quiet at night. Breakfast was delicious and featured local products. The owners also have a truly lovely dog!

I would have liked a small desk to work on in the room - there was room to work in the “living room”.

Very steep steps for rooms upstairs not suitable for elderly persons and if carrying a lot of (bulky luggages)

It is next to the Maallust brewing area. And 20 mins by car from Assen.

The hospitality was exceptional. It is very recommendable and nice hotel to stay in.

The location and the hosts were superb. The garden, which a guest has full access to, is huge and breathtakingly beautiful. The area is quiet and beautiful with plenty to do and an open air swimming pool, restaurants and musea just a few hundred metres away. The hosts are very knowledgeable about the history and the area itself and are welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was great and these hosts can cater to all dietary needs and preferences. I had the impression that these hosts are caring and respectful of nature and the environment. There seemed to be no unnecessary waste and everything was spotlessly clean. We definitely recommend !

For us it was a perfect stay. Nothing we didn’t like or that disappointed us.
