The suite was well-appointed and had a good feel to it. An extraordinary bubble-bath with whirlpool effects dominated the bathroom. Not for the ecologically-minded, but hugely impressive.
The breakfast is good, but needs a little fine-tuning. The scrambled eggs looked as if they were made from reconstituted egg powder - they weren’t attractive. The fried eggs were fine, and fresh ones were being prepared. The omelette slices looked decorous, but were let down by the underside being burnt, which meant that they didn’t taste good. The bread was of top quality, and the croissants and other bakery offerings were very decent. The smoked salmon was excellent. As a breakfast, good, but with a little effort, could become memorable.

The entrance, dining area and lobby/reception area was elegant and comfy. The staff was very helpful! The live fragrant Christmas trees added a memory of our childhood past. The hotel was classy and inviting.
The narrow steep spiral staircase was scary. This is the first hotel we've stayed in that didn't have an elevator. Not even a dumb waiter for the luggage. However, the desk clerk did take our luggage up. The lighting in our room was too dim and there was no access in the bathroom for us to use a curling iron or hairdryer. The TV turned on and off by itself, which freaked us out. The safari decor was unusual.

Very well styled, authentic hotel consisting of various (old) buildings surrounding a courtyard. Smack in the middle of the centre with restaurants, bars and trendy shops. And the famous Vera venue across the street. The room was spacious, quiet, with a very comfy large bed. A bathtub and separate shower. Very luxurious breakfast buffet. Easy and safe parking just around the corner from the hotel. What is not to like?
I would have like to be able to control the heating.

The hotel is very nice. The furnishings in the rooms and the lobby are very elegant and high quality. We were very surprised. Our wishes for a renovated room were taken into account and we were very impressed. Staff very friendly and the English was very very good. The location is ideal and we were able to drop off our suitcases beforehand. The hotel is highly recommended if you want to treat yourself to something very special for little price.

Location was great. staff was amazing
The first room (102) i was in was depressing. I assumed that all of the rooms were similar and that this was just the way it was in a historic building in the middle of the city, until i saw the suites being cleaned and was dumbfounded that this would be rented out for the price it is, the size of a large closet when you can have a suite for a relatively small amount extra.

The suite we got was lovely, the first suite we got was underwhelming and didn't have AC. We spoke to staff and they quickly gave us a suite with wow factor and AC. The staff was very lovely and helpful. The jacuzzi was also very good. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The location was amazing, we barely left the street... The city has much to offer.
The sign for the parking garage could have stood out better. My partner missed a Nescafé machine, but I didn't mind that at all. Hotel was fab

We saw some not good views and were doubtful. But, we loved this hotel. It is old-styled, has big rooms, and jacuzzi which was working. It wasn’t hot because of the rain. The hotel is located in the city center, there are a lot of coffee shops and restaurants. The room was clean, had couple chairs and sofas, comfortable and soft bed, a lot of pillows. Also wifi was working good. We enjoyed it.
There’s nothing we didn’t like :)

I really appreciate the decor, antique furniture, and doors. A lot of hotels nowadays have new, modern doors that can cause a lot of noise when closed. This hotel did not have this issue and I found it generally peaceful. I also appreciated the sustainability measures taken by the hotel direction.
There was a bit of dust here and there. An extra blanket would have been great.

Super courteous staff, atmosphere, architecture & decoration are very well done, I had a lovely breakfast, with fresh toast, smoked salmon, French cheese... Diner in home is star-worth and reasonably priced. Parking went smooth and safe. I would definitely recommend this venue to people who can appreciate style and good taste.
One time I had to wait about twenty minutes before there was hot water again to shower. Due to restricted capacity of the boilers. No big deal, just a little inconvenient.

I you want to stay in a super tight new modern hotel... you know, one such one you can find in every city around the world... DON'T GO here :) If you want to feel a romantic atmosphere, feel part of history right in the center of downdown Groningen... this is an absolute recommendation. Just imagine who all slept in that room during last centuries... A superb experience.
