The Market Hotel is in a great location in Groningen, very central and loads of bars and restaurants within easy reach. We were on the 5th floor and the sound-proofing from the noise of the bars below was pretty good. Really great buffet breakfast - the best on our 3-week trip - and thank you for the gluten-free rolls and croissants, and the soya yoghurt, much appreciated.

The sauna is lovely but it's 12.50 euros per person per hour, whether there's 1 / 2 / 10 of you! 25 euros for the two of us for an hour felt rather expensive. Why not have some sessions that can be privately booked, and then a couple of hours when you're sharing it with other guests but pay a bit less?

Breakfast was great. Location also very good for us. We needed to be at the Forum and that was next door. Check-in was very accommodating and friendly. We stayed in the WOW suite, which I thought was nice, not Wow. Drinks were complimentary in the mini bar, which was really great and they left a nice little bag of Chocolates with a note. There was a nice tiny little terrace area you could sit outside.

What I found was annoying was toilet was located on one side of the room and the bathroom on the other. When you needed to wash your hands you needed to scoot around the bed and go to another location to do that. Also, my daughter stayed on the other side of the hotel that faced the market and she was up all night with the noise. To be fair, it was King's night but I wonder what it would be like on a Saturday night on a lower floor. I think it would be quite loud.

We were warned in advance that a fire in the hotel meant several of the facilities, including the restaurant, were unavailable. Breakfast was served almost next door in another restaurant and it was a very good breakfast- marred only on the first morning by some chaos caused by a broken coffee machine. The room was great: extremely comfortable and clean and great attention to detail. The hotel is super- central and within easy reach of everything in the city. Staff were very helpful.

There was a kettle and a fridge in the room and I asked for some milk ( being English) for our tea. The staff member I spoke to behaved as if I’d asked for the blood of a baby 😂 luckily, the concierge in the evening was rather more helpful and fetched me a whole litre very cheerfully

The location is amazing right in the city centre next to the forum. Spent a long weekend with friends and my brother who has an infant child. The hotel is also very child friendly. Very nice and luxurious bedrooms. Gym and spa in the basement.

Part of the stay at the hotel involved them hosting the conference dinner for our professional group, which was done very thoroughly, and I had a lot of interaction with staff before I stayed. The hotel is at the heart of Groningen. Despite the fair outside, it was very peaceful and tranquil inside the hotel, particularly in my room. The rooms are stylish and modern, but very comfortable. I would certainly return to the hotel or to any of the others in the same group.

I don't think there was anything which could have been done better.

The location of the hotel is excellent, in the middle of town with parking very close and most attractions within a few minutes walk. Good ambience, friendly staff, clean and well maintained facilities. The rooms have excellent sound and heat insulation. I asked for a quiet room and was allocated one at the end of a corridor away from elevators and guests walking past. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed.

The service in the restaurant is very slow, however the food was great. The ensuite bathroom I did not like the glass bathroom walls and frosted glass toilet walls and door. There is a sensor in the toilet that turns the light on when you open and close the toilet door and due to the glass door and walls this light penetrates the bedroom at night for a while before going off. The glass cupboard and glass walls reflect any light in the room.

The design of the rooms are stunning, calming and fittings are beautifully placed. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The lack of noise from the carnival was very helpful.

A basic selection of hand wash, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner without having to ask for it. The staff were friendly but when I wanted to sit outside and read my book, I was constantly asked if I wanted to order something. It would have been nice to have a subtle hotel resident id to stop the repeated interruptions.

The location is superb. Having stayed in Groningen many times, this was by far the most conveniently located and best hotel. Staff are fabulous, friendly and helpful. Great breakfast choice, dinner menu and bar for drinks or coffee. For such a busy hotel in the heart of the city I was amazed at how quiet/sound proofed it is in every bedroom. (There was a carnival in Grote Market right outside the door and we couldn’t hear it!).

This is a fabulous hotel. Only comment would be that the shower room is open access in the room ie has no door and not convenient for friends as opposed to couples.

The hotel is superbly located in the centre of town right on the Grote Markt and next to the Martini Toren and provides great access to shops, restaurants and attractions. The facilities are of a very high standard. The rooms are spacious with beautiful lighting, have a coffee / tea station with a Nespresso machine (with supplies), excellent shower and a novel glass wardrobe, and the Wi-Fi works seamlessly at decent speed. Breakfast is a feast. The Willem Albert Cafe serves excellent coffee, and food. The staff are great.

The gym is rather small for a big hotel and the rooms, for a four-star hotel, should have a small fridge. The wardrobe could do with a few more hangers and the bathroom could do with a few additional hooks for towels and a gown (which, other than bath slippers, is not supplied but should be for a hotel of this standing).

Yes, it has exceeded our expectation. We went to this city to visit our Daughter who studied here. Initially tried to find any good and substantial hotel. But this hotel is super awesome. It definitely feels new (opened in 2020) yet the room is very modern and classy at the same time. Very comfy bed. Every corner of this hotel feels new and clean. Our room is facing front to the central of attraction. That was really a bonus. There is also Vis Markt in front of the hotel on every Tuesday so we got a chance to visit it.

Our room facing the center of attraction where there is the biggest pub in Europe. While we can feel the vibe during the day and calmness in the morning, it can be very noisy between 2 - 3 am
