The motel was in a fantastic location, we had an amazing view both from in the lounge area and from the deck looking out over lake Tekapo and the mountains behind the lake which were covered in snow. It was truly magic and rivals mountain views anywhere in the world. We stayed in "The Barn" which was a one bedroom unit. I loved the graphic wallpaper on two walls. The photo was taken just down the road with alot of tussock grass which was a rich warm colour. Bathroom was great with under floor heating. Also a lovely kitchen which was well appointed.

There was absolutely nothing we didn't like.

We had a wonderful stay at Mackenzie Suites in Tekapo — it was by far the best accommodation we experienced during our South Island trip. The private garage on the ground floor was such a thoughtful touch, especially during heavy snow. We were amazed to find our own name displayed above the garage — what a warm welcome! The host even waited for us at the door in the snow and kindly helped reverse the car into the garage to ensure our safety. Upstairs, the suite was spacious, modern, and filled with natural light. The panoramic lake and snow views from the three-sided floor-to-ceiling windows were absolutely breathtaking — we could have spent the whole day just soaking it in. The kitchen was fully equipped, the washing and drying facilities were excellent, and we even found a dedicated iPad with curated local recommendations for food and activities in Tekapo. One of the best surprises: a 12:00 noon checkout — the only one out of the 12 hotels we stayed in across the South Island. That extra time made such a difference and truly shows the thoughtfulness behind every detail. Highly recommended.

Nothing.

The view was fabulous, I could sit on the bed and watch the lake view for a whole day. The host patiently explained to us the facilities, got a wonderful electric fireplace heater, and the room was really warm. The furniture and decorations in the room were all very beautiful. The bathroom facilities were new and handy. This was our best place to stay during the entire NZ trip.

The profile picture needs an update, the actual views were much better than pictures.

Warm welcome on arrival from Cath, we were shown around, and given lots of info on the area and places to eat. The suite was lovely, great size, everything we needed for our stay just wish we were staying longer. The bath was gorgeous and even though the weather wasn't great the views were still stunning. Having use of the washer/dryer was a real bonus as we are on a road trip so it was great to catch up on some washing. Would highly recommend and return if we were ever in the area again.

Nothing.

Was the best suite I have been in, plenty of heating, clean, has a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and own garage for vehicle. Fantastic views of the lake with patio front and back. Heat pump and separate lpg fireplace, lovely furniture and netflix, watch what you want. Bathroom has heated floor with shower and beautiful big bath and candles so you can add abit of romance...loved the bed with its headboard and surroundings.

need a softer or thicker mattress...

We stayed in the mobility accessible "barn" suite which was really comfortable with some thoughtful extras like underfloor heating in the bathroom, kitchen staples like oil and salt and pepper, useful kitchen utensils, decent sized tv, a lounge, table and chairs to eat meals, curtains for windows and sliding door, sliding doors that closed off the bedroom, and a comfortable front deck with lounges to take in the stunning lake view. It was only a 10 minute walk to the lakefront main service centre shops and also provided parking.

Magnificent is the word I would use to describe the view from the patio. It was so beautiful that my daughter decided to read on the patio in winter while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The accommodation is a few minutes' drive from food establishments and major touristy areas. We could park the car with the boot facing the entrance to the unit. The suite is well-appointed - clean bathroom, kitchenette etc. There is also a nice fireplace that can keep the room very warm at night. The Mackenzie Suite is in a Dark Sky reserve and the perfect place to stay if you are interested in booking an activity to see stars. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously. My only regret is that we didn't get to stay longer.

Nothing that we didn't like. The stay was wonderful.

Accommodation is great with big sliding doors looking out onto the lake and hills beyond. Increadible blue colour of the water. Really spacious bathroom and geat kitchen set up with large living room space and seperate bedroom. Great base to explore the many local things (Mount Cook, Climbing to obervatory at Mt St John, soaking in Tekapo springs and watching the stars at night - either from the Good Shepherd Church or by walking 5 mins from the apartment and finding a spot to enjoy the sky. Easy walk into town with some great food available.

I was blown away by this place. I'm starting to realise that NZ just does hospitality really well. Even so, this little apartment exceeded all my expectations. It had everything you'd want. Plus a lake view with patio and comfy seats. We even had two ducks on the patio to greet us! Sadly for them we didn't have any bread (or sensible duck food!) so they soon left us alone. The host was super nice and helpful with her greeting and tips on restaurants. The Ramen place was brilliant by the way. I would highly recommend this accom for Lake Tekapo visitors.

Extremely comfortable apartment with modern facilities and amazing views out over Lake Tekapo. Our hosts were super friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The weather was freezing but nonetheless the apartment was very warm. We had heavy snow overnight and the next day Ivan was out there clearing the driveway, and at the same time relaxed about our departure time.

Everything was great, can't think of anything. A couple minutes drive out of town such that it would be difficult if you were mobility impaired and wanted to walk into town, and not super well lit due to dark skies project.
