No breakfast included. Location suitable for what we wanted. Close to village centre with 4 Square. Cottage very spacious. Old building but well maintained. Just 2 of us but there were 2 bedrooms with beds for 6 people - 3 in each room. Lounge room, dining room, kitchen open plan but spacious. Lovely green lawn outside with table if weather good. Separate laundry building to accomodate camp site as well.

If weather very cold, heating would probably be insufficient. Internet a bit intermittent if wanting to watch TV. Ramp to entrance door rather unkempt but didn't worry us.

This place is spotlessly clean, homely and the staff are amazingly helpful and don’t mind spending time answering questions about what to do in the surrounding area. It has good facilities, washing and drying machines, communal kitchen and nice dining area. The Lodge used to be hospital so lots of rooms and wooden floor corridors. Quiet location with hens wandering outside. You can buy their eggs - I love this place as have been before. It’s peaceful and friendly clean and tidy and you feel the owner goes the extra mile with a smile.

Nothing to complain about

Really loved the games room and dining areas and my boys (6yrs and 12yrs) enjoyed being able to scooter up and down the hallways. Quiet location, nice and central to a lot of walks and beaches. Great staff, well equipped kitchen and showers were great!! Comfy beds. Sufficient bedding

If there was one downside, it was that hot water is only available at set times in the morning (6:30am-10am)and afternoon (6:30pm-10pm)…but it didn’t effect us at all as we were out and about most of the day.

Friendly owner. Definitely worth staying at least 3 days - it’s a great base for checking out all of The Catlins attractions. We stayed in a Double room with private bathroom & TV. It had tea/coffee making facilities plus a fridge and TV Lounge close by. We were happy to self-cater. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs.

The bed was smaller than we’re used to but it was ok.

Location most suitable as a base to explore the northern end of the Catlins. Liked that there were multiple options of room configurations including dorm rooms, double rooms and 2 bedroom cottage. Liked that a cot was available for a baby and rollaway bed for extra person. Jan was most helpful in sorting accommodation for our group of 18 people. The pool table served as a helpful activity and the little lounge and sun rooms were relaxing, quiet spaces.

Friendly accommodating staff. Just loved the friendly atmosphere of people working here. The various different areas- multitude of eating s spaces lounges - windows everywhere wooden floors. And the outside- farm - ducks and chooks....As an old hospital-- more human sized and roomy. I also liked people staying here. Happy atmosphere that seemed to match the town.

Ther room was more than adequate and warm and comfortable. The owner was pleasant and helpful and everything was handled in a relaxed manner. Facilities were clean and toilets and showers were kept clean. Social areas were well set up.

Parking can be tight at times depending on how many people have booked in but mostly was no problem.

Beautiful building, good facilities and spacious bedroom. Good location for exploring the catlins. Jan was lovely and helpful. The building was quite cold (it’s a very big old building). And the hot water turns off for a few hours per day. But Jan gave us a heater for our room which was great.

Amazing old building - loved the atmosphere. Rural and quiet but in the small township of Owaka with everything you need. Staff were very helpful, giving me info on the nearby Caves. Great guest kitchen and dining room. Room small but had everything. Loved the games room and the tea and coffee nook at the end of the hallway. Place looked very clean and tidy, considering some of the earlier reviews. We were very happy and would come again.

We were booked in a three person room, with ensuite. We were offered the cottage for a reasonable $20 extra per night. It was cozy, clean, spacious and stylish in it's presentation. We were wrapt. Staff were friendly and our stay was so much better than our original booking.
