Amazing, absolutely crazy delicious breakfast. Best hotel breakfast I have had in a looong time. Everything was really tasty, but also local, sustainable and ethically farmed, love it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location had you right by Festningen, so beautiful surroundings, but still easy to get into town.

The room was not very cozy, especially with the bleak colour scheme and high ceiling, and the bathroom felt a bit shabby even though it was well cleaned.

A nice hotel with a beautiful view of Halden. A cozy terrace where you can enjoy sunset with a glass of wine. Quiet surroundings with a good parking place. The staff was very polite and helpful.

For some reason all rooms were equipped with feather lamps. Probably not important for almost everybody but if you are allergic to that it can matter very much. There should be a couple of rooms available without that. Anyway the staff understood our problem and we were allowed to remove that thing from the room.

Fredriksten Hotell is a very unique facility, situated adjacent to the Fortress, and overlooking the city. Because the hotel is a converted military facility, it has an institutional feel, yet it is charming. Everyone was kind and helpful, and spoke excellent English. We were make to feel welcomed.

All of the hotel staff were wonderful and helpful, and the breakfast magnificent! There was nothing to not like.

Room was comfortable and stylish. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and the restaurant served a high quality dinner.

We found it hard to locate the hotel entrance and needed to ask. It's on an eminence a bit away from the town - easy to walk down the hill, harder to walk up. Shower was a bit small. Provision of an electric jug for making tea would be an enhancement.

Everything was as described on Booking.com. The rooms were very clean. I’ve never slept in such soft and comfortable bedding before. The staff was very friendly. The area was very nice and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of products.

Stayed overnight travelling from Norway to Sweden and the location was convenient as just 10 mins from E6. Driving up to the hotel provides great views of the fortress. Nice outdoor areas to enjoy the sunset. The room was spacious and modern. Free parking.

This is a great hotel- stunning design in the lounge/restaurant areas and also the bedrooms. I felt that the styling gave this hotel 'something extra'.It is modern in style well appointed and very comfortable. The staff are really helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Halden has an amazing fortress right next to this hotel which is worth spending time to explore since there is so much history to appreciate! The breakfast is really good ( even by German breakfast standards) and beautifully presented... a winner!

Amazing location. Amazing breakfast. And all the people that work there are absolutely fantastic.

The wifi was impossible to use. I work in IT and it was impossible to use. Also the room could a bit cleaner.

The location, close to the fort AND the city center. The view over the city and the Fort, the staff, the room, the food, simply amazing! I never give out a 10/10, but this hotel deserved it. Next time I go Halden, I stay at Fredriksten Hotell again.

Warm and cozy atmosphere in the common area. Great location. Both common areas and the rooms appear fresh and newly refurbished. Great food, both lunch, dinner and breakfast with a focus on local ingredients. Historic area with a short walking distance to the fortress.
