Incredibly cheap for the quality! Obviously not a super fancy hotel, but clean and comfortable! We didn’t realize that the Olympic Park was right behind the hotel so we asked about walking up the ski jump and the front desk said it was open to the public and that we could get there on a path by the hotel. Instantly ran up there which was fun! The breakfast was amazing and the lobby was really fun. We booked a normal double room for two and it came with a pull out couch and double bunk bed pull out. Would’ve been perfect if we had a couple kids so keep that in mind for small families. Parking was free and easy. WiFi was good. If I ever come back to Lillehammer I’ll definitely stay here!

Great location, just a short walk to the town and quiet. The communal areas are much nicer that expected with lots of little seating areas and sofas etc to relax if you wish. Beds were comfy and the room was spotlessly clean. We had a couple of queries for the staff who were all helpful and warm. The breakfast was a highlight with a massive range of delicious food and excellent quality ingredients….

Our bathroom was quite small and dated and in need of a little update….the shower didn’t have a screen so the floor gets wet . However, it was clean and the shower was hot and powerful. The walls were extremely thin and I could hear the man next door coughing… it wasn’t a problem for us as the neighbours were quiet, but if you had a noisy family or couple in the next room, you would hear it very loudly.

This was my second stay at Birkebeineren. The rooms are simple, but cozy. Especially the larger double bed room this tiem was amazing to stay at. The bathroom also has a heated floor for winter times. The rooms are also very clean, even between and underneath the beds. The breakfast is fairly extensive and nice, having both cold cuts (And norwegian foods as well) and a british breakfast, but also the classic cereal options. The location is probably the best in Lillehammer, with a stunning view down towards the town and the river Lågen, being close to the forrest, and a amazing view towards the iconic ski jumping ramp as well. The footwalk towards the city center can take some energy, but can be done within 10 minutes. Staff is also amazing and helpful. Another big bonus is the mini mart in the lobby with the free coffee.

The beds tend to get quite uncomfortable, being very soft and not supporting. Back in December the water also took a long time to run hot when trying to get a shower, which can be avoided when showering at different times.

- modern hotel with very detailed interior - Rituals products in the bathroom (soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner) - free parking - delicious breakfast buffet offering something for every taste (warm meals, many different kinds of cold cut, yoghurt, granola, fruit, vegetables, eggs in almost all variations, deliciously fresh bread, fruit juices from a „Rauch“ station, black coffee, milk, tea, selection of gluten-free alternatives, egg salad, pickles, Skyr…) - very attentive be friendly staff - perfect location to go to the ski jump arena and the city center (both in approximately 15min walking distance)

Everything was perfect for us, but you should bear in mind that not all rooms are reachable with the elevator.

A beautiful hotel located away from the centre, compensated by its location right under the ski jumps. The entire hotel is steeped in Birkebeiners history, historical shots of Lillehammer and art by contemporary artists. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and supportive. We enjoyed a great sauna and a very good breakfast. Also positive about the self-service bar at the reception, the late check-out (until 12) and of course Rituals cosmetics! We will be more than happy to stay again next time.

The staff are very welcoming, helpful & informative. The rooms are spacious & comfortable, shower is great. Free coffee is great. Picnic lunch for 75 nok is great. Electric charger outside hotel is good, once you've worked out how to use it! Breakfast rolls at 4am were a very welcome alternative to normal breakfast (which started later).

Strange to just have coat hangers and no drawers, but the other Norwegian hotels were the same. The electric charger took 30 mins to work out how to use it.

We stayed in the main building. Everything was good with the room. The breakfast was great with lots of choices. Location is good as there is plenty of free parking. 10-15 minute walk to the Sentrum with a pedestrian only zone and lots of restaurants and shops. Breakfast is very busy early when the athletes from the nearby Olympic Park are eating but it calms down later. It’s an opportunity to dine with aspiring and future olympians.

Friendly receptionists. A lovely welcoming. And, I had booked one night too little, but the receptionist arranged a prolongation of our staff to our fullest satisfaction. The view from the hotel is very nice and the the breakfast is fine.

Norway's alcohol legislation is difficult for foreigners. It was not allowed to consume beer or wine on the terrace in front of the hotel - not even drinks bought in the reception. You could drink them inside or on the balcony. The hotel should have a sign informing guests about this. There should be a shower mat in the bathroom. In rooms with a limigted screen of the shower area, the floor is flooed after a shower, so you have to use the small towel.

We booked as overnight stay while driving up to Trondheim for a conference. We wish we had more time to stay longer, hotel was great and the surrounding was lovely. The room we were given was I think one the best rooms in the hotel. The breakfast was great also we enjoyed the perfect view from the breakfast room. We wish we had time to explore other amenities.

We cannot complain about anything other than lack of time to stay longer :)

For the breakfast: here was a good selection; I would have liked pancakes one of the mornings; salmon on Saturday was a nice addition. For the room: we used the heated bathroom every day to help our clothes dry; we liked the bulk soap dispensers. We enjoyed having a sauna on site! Staff were always friendly and helpful. It was great to be able to walk downtown.

The mini donuts, coffee, and the scrambled eggs were not good. The beds were a little too soft. The stadium lights were on late into the night, and then the building sidelights were shining into the windows, so we had to shut the blinds to block out those lights. I really don't like sheet toilet paper.
