Breakfast buffet was good. The location is central, very close to the main shopping street. The hotel is modern and clean and they sell instant pasta meals, drinks and snacks.

I only had half a toilet roll when I checked in and no spare. I expect to have a spare especially seen as rooms are only cleaned every few days. I had to queue at Reception for another one. There is a quick check in / check out online facility but there were still people at Reception who caused long waits. At busy times, perhaps more than one member of staff should be available on Reception for people who have lots of questions. No kettle in the room but I knew this beforehand and I brought my own.

For the price, this hotel is a great option. The rooms are small but have everything you need, and my partner and I felt very comfortable. It’s centrally located and the AirPort Express bus leaves you just a street away. The breakfast was really really nice - loads of hot and cold options and the staff running the breakfast were really professional and friendly and kept everything tidy and clean. I’d say it was better than most hotel breakfasts I’ve had as it offered fresh and delicious options. Also, the hotel staff was really nice and helpful when we had questions.

For the location and price it was perfect! The rooms is small but we thought it was cozy, especially after a long day outside!

Everything is expensive in Norway, this is no surprise to the prepared traveller. However, while the rooms may be small and have a hostelly vibe, this is probably the best value hotel in the best location possible. The shared facilities and free tea and coffee were gratefully received. We were quite pleased with what we got for the money.

The rooms are small, but the hotel is upfront about this so we were prepared. A few more hooks for wet coats would be useful too. Rooms were hot.

The location is great, quite close to the city center (5min walk), supermarkets, and bus stops (including the airport bus). As Tromsø is a bit hilly, being close to downtown makes a difference, even if the steep road can get slippery. The shower was also amazing, and I enjoyed the access to coffee and tea downstairs - there was no kettle in the room, and with the cold it’s nice to have some tea to warm up.

The rooms were decorated in industrial chic, which felt a little like how I’d imagine a prison cell looks like. Some more space to put things would be great, though there’s enough hooks).

the wonderful breakfasts, being able to hang out in the dining area & have cups of tea/coffee, hot or cold water anytime & lovely touches like lemon water. So good to be able to have our own snacks in the dining area & sit & relax there any time after breakfast. It was great to have reception staff available all the time for help + tour advice available at reception. The location is excellent - it was an easy walk to the town square, tourist info centre, bus terminal, supermarkets, places to eat, pick-ups for tours etc

It was all good - the room was small but we knew it would be & it was everything we needed

The hotel is located in the city centre, which is great. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is free tea at the lobby, always available for quests. We are so glad we added breakfast when booking, because there were a lot of different options to choose from, and everything was delicious. The best thing is, if you book any tours you will not lose a lot of time searching where to buy food early in the morning (as all tours start early) because yummy breakfast is only a few steps away 😊 The staff is very friendly and kind, especially Dash, who works at the reception. In general, we liked the hotel, it was more than we expected for the price we paid.

We were satisfied with everything and hope we can visit again.

The property was very clean , and really good location . The rooms were on the smaller side but cosy . Again good location . Staff were really nice

As stated the rooms were on the small side but didn’t affect our trip . The elevator was out of order and was hard to lug our backs up and down the flight of stairs , we also had to nip down each as our room key would stop working .

The hotel is very well located, at a walking distance from city center and from other local attractions. It provides a good breakfast, at a decent price. Easy check-in and check-out procedure. You can book day-trips and other activities from the Reception. The room was very clean. Temperature in the room was very good and the bed were very comfortable.

Room was quite small. There was no closet to store your clothes. The bed was placed just next to a window, so you were able to hear any noise coming from the street.

I was looking for a room for 6 nights in Tromso and as a solo traveler cost effectiveness was important for me. The room was just right for one person. It was clean and functional. Breakfast was good. Location is good - relatively short walking distance to all attractions in Tromso.

Room cleaning is once every 4 days.

The Smarthotel is an excellent value. Yes, the rooms are small - that's the concept, but one does not come to Tromsø to sit in the hotel room, and all the essentials for a good rest are there. The beds are very comfortable, heavy drapes ensure good sleep during the polar day, the bathrooms are functional. Good breakfast, free coffee all day long. The common space where guests can lounge, eat their own food (there's even a microwave available) is a nice touch. A perfect place for a hiking/backpacking trip.

WiFi is open without security - VPN use is mandatory, or you risk getting hacked.
