Our family of 5 occupied two rooms for two nights during Semana Santa. The location of this hotel is excellent. We were within walking distance of the main plaza and found what we needed within a few blocks any which way. The property itself is beautiful and we enjoyed spending time in the courtyard in front of our rooms. There was plenty of seating, including umbrellas, for us to enjoy time talking with one another or reading. For the price paid per night we feel that Hotel Casona Solar was a good value. With some improvements in the areas mentioned, it'd be a 5 star stay for sure.

There was a very strong odor of a toilet tablet or other cleaning material in the bathroom. It made us a bit queasy and even with the fan running, it never really went away. The only toiletries provided was an unnamed soap (body and shampoo? Just body?) located in the shower dispenser. When I read "toiletries provided" I plan my packing around that information. The towels were a bit worn and could use an update. Breakfast was a bit slow to roll out on our last morning so we had to rush a bit to eat before being picked up for our trip to Colca Canyon.

The room was reasonably spacious, although I expected it to be slightly larger. The hotel is stunning, and its location is ideal—just a 5-minute walk from the main square, making it perfect for exploring Arequipa. Unfortunately, we only got to enjoy the excellent breakfast once due to early departures on the other mornings. However, the incredibly friendly staff kindly prepared takeaway options for us.

can’t think of much, though perhaps the shower could be improved. It’s separated from the rest of the bathroom by a curtain, which makes it easy for water to splash outside. However, it’s not a significant issue.

What a charming bedroom! It was 200 years old but renovated and had modern facilities and a garden. The bedrooms were comfortable, and we had lots of space for ourselves and our bags. There was still a mezzanine with another bedroom that we did not use. We would have to depart early the next day, but they prepared food bags we could use while travelling. However, we still miss the opportunity of having another good breakfast in their meal area. We also left our dirty clothes to be washed and dried in their laundry service, which was fast, not so expensive, and efficient. The localization in the city was superb, and we will definitely go back to Arequipa and Casona Solar one day.

The bathroom had just the sink, no countertop, and it was difficult to dispose of our bathroom stuff around the sink. However, there was enough space to have a countertop, which would have helped a lot. There was no dush for the toilet vase, which is necessary for people who cannot use toilet paper. The shower box had two curtains, which was not a problem at all. However, the external curtain was so dark that it impaired the vision inside the shower box, which had no light inside it. They should definitely change the external curtain for another one with a much lighter hue. We have nothing against using incense to aromatize environments. However, the hotel should choose incense with a lighter smell.

We had a very short stay. Due to the delay of our flight. Our flight was delayed over three times during the day. Each time I notified the property and they acknowledged. We were met at the airport by a scheduled driver. Upon arrival at the hotel the staff went way out of their way to communicate with the tour company for our bus ride to puno early the next morning. We even received a knock on our door in the morning when the driver was 10 mins away. The staff clearly were looking out for us. They had breakfast to go in the morning which was great.

I travel with my adult daughter and our stay was really great. My daughter was sick and the team of Casona Solar was extremely helpful. Furthermore, the location is really great. It is totally central and when you exit the hotel you feel right away the pulse of the city. But in the very moment you enter the hotel you feel an oasis of calmness and quietness. The garden is really beautiful. The breakfast buffet was little but really delicious. We were especially happy about the option of dark bread. The Wifi was very good and reliable. The water was warm and the room temperature was nicely warm.

We spent 4 nights in this hotel and had a fabulous time. It is truly lovely with one front courtyard surrounded by rooms and the back garden courtyard with an incredible cactus garden. Very quiet and immaculately clean. Bed was super comply, sheets crispy clean and pillows great. It is located a couple of blocks off the main square, 2 blocks from the central market. Breakfast was American with your choice of eggs, etc. shower pressure great and lots of hot water. We would return without a second thought. Hosts were friendly, professional and helpful.

The hotel is well located, two blocks from the main square and two blocks from San Camilo market which is a good option if you want to buy a quality sombrero (huge range), or fruit and veg. Just one block away is the large supermarket, “Mas Ventas” in Calle Dean Valdivia where I top up on packeted superfoods to take home (maca, lucuma, alcachofa, camu camu, purple corn, chia, canela, cacao, sacha inchi etc. averaging $2-4 each). Good range of quality alpaca clothing outlets in AQP at up to 50% discount if you shop around, such as Patapampa, Kuna, and Incalpaca. Casona Solar’s buffet breakfast is excellent, also with omelette/scrambled eggs made to order, plus fresh coffee served to table. Rooms are comfortable and clean. It’s quiet. The staff and manager are very helpful with good customer service focus. The hotel is good value for money. Whenever I’m in AQP I stay here. This was my third visit.

We loved our stay in this historic hotel. The suite was beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable. The courtyards provided lovely, quiet places to relax, and the hotel's location is perfect for sightseeing in Arequipa. The staff is very kind and always present and ready to help.

My one complaint is that the hair dryer installed in the bathroom didn't work and the "backup" that I'd brought struggled to function with the voltage adapter. A minor inconvenience, but this is an important amenity to some guests and was listed among those offered by the hotel.

Excellent location in the heart of the old town: we could do all visits by foot. The staff was very friendly and attentive, they provided excellent service. The bedding was very comfortable, pillow and comforter were very soft. The premises are beautiful, our bedroom like the shared patios. Breakfast was eggs to order, fresh fruits, Greek yogurt, slice of cheese, slice a ham, cereals, olives, pickles, fresh juices.

All rooms are beautiful but without windows - light comes from an opening in the ceiling. The bathroom was very small and the tiles very slippery.

Lovely rooms, beautiful courtyards where you could sit in sun from 8am till 3pm in winter, which many people did throughout the day. Very helpful staff. Quiet perfect location. Close to all the main sites and mercado. Half hour walk to the lookouts and picsnterias eg Tio Dario (recommended). Good breakfast.

Rooms have no windows. You can leave your doors to courtyard open - they have privacy screening. Our room had small light well directly overhead which let some light in during the day but was like an early morning spotlight - good for early morning wakeups.
