Stunning property, amazing location and beautiful views. Amenities including the spa were amazing and the Raiva restaurant was one of the best meals we have ever had. Staff were very lovely and friendly and very accommodating.

Only negative would be that there are breakfast items that are charged at a premium rather than included. I feel given the price of the hotel, these should be included at fairly minimal cost (stuff like eggs benedict, which are fairly common to be offered at a premium hotel). The hotel also didn’t make any acknowledgement for our honeymoon such as a free drink or complimentary wine which would have been a nice touch for a special occasion.

I stayed in a room with a balcony, and I’ll truly miss those peaceful mornings — sipping coffee while looking out over the tranquil river, completely surrounded by calm. If you’re dreaming of a peaceful retreat in one of Portugal’s most scenic regions, I highly recommend this hotel. It’s a place that stays with you.

The setting is absolutely stunning and we loved kayaking on the river. The views from the room are incredible and the bed was very comfy. The staff were great and we enjoyed the complimentary welcome port.

We thought the glass / windows in the spa and by the pools could have been cleaner, particularly as a big feature of the hotel is the view. Also for the price we expected perhaps a bottle of wine in the room, especially as it was my partner's birthday (they instead suggested I could buy a cake and bottle of wine for 50 euros when I made the special request).

The hotel is amazing, the pool is heated. Food is delicious. I really like the attention to detail, they always leave messages for the guests in the room with some tea/cookies and water. And, the little ones are not forgotten, they provide special products for the baby/kids, truly amazing! Thank you

For the amount you pay per night, I think you should choose whatever you want for breakfast. For example, if you wanted an avocado toast at breakfast we have to pay around 8/9€, it doesn’t make much sense…

Very friendly staff; The location is amazing with very an awesome river view (We got a room with river view); Having gym and interior heated pool available 24h is a big plus; Has 2 restaurants to choose from which gives you more choices on the hotel directly;

I really dislike institutions that try to normalize tipping culture and add this information in formal restaurant invoices with suggested tip amounts. This is not ok at all and companies should pay livable wages to their staff and not rely on tips so that employees actually earn a livable wage. A tip should not be something suggested on invoices. Why should we have this culture at hotels and restaurants but not do the same for workers cleaning the streets or the ones collecting trash? This hotel has this culture which really made me sad.

Fabulous hotel, everything is beautifully designed and the staff is helpful and attentive. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice view of the mountains and river. The pool on the roof and cafe were relaxing. My dog travels with me and I have had many "pet friendly" experiences. Octant hotels are the best and set the bar high. The fees are a bit higher than some hotels but having access to common areas together is well worth it!

Friendly and polite staff, extraordinary location and amenities. Good food quality.

Very slow service in every restaurant. Although staff was kind, polite and well meaning, every single order in every restaurant throughout our stay took ages. We felt there was perhaps a lack of coordination or supervision, as the staff number seemed reasonable. Also, the fact that the water bottles replaced daily in our rooms were not courtesy came up as an unpleasant surprise in the bill.

Cleaning services has a lot room to improve. The first day we arrived the cleaning ladies kept their mops and a little pile of garbage right at our door. The next day they removed the mops but little pieces of garbage stayed right there at our door. Nobody removed it in 2 days when we stayed in the hotel. This was the first thing we saw when entering our room and the impression was immediately spoiled. Further, windows in our room were dirty. When we sat at the table to have lunch, there was bread under our table that was dropped by previous guests, kids it seems.

We recently stayed at Octant Douro to celebrate our first year anniversary and we couldn't have been happier. I think we were given a free upgrade and the view of our room was incredible! The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was perfect. We were welcomed with fruit, a bottle of wine, and a personalised card in our room, which made us feel really special. We ate in both of the hotel restaurants and the food never disappointed. Again, we were given a special treat at the end to mark the occasion! The breakfast is also really good. Although we didn't have a spa treatment we made use of the steam room, sauna and heated pool, which were excellent. The hotel is beautiful but the staff's excellent service and attention to detail really set it apart. It's clear that they take great pride in their work.

The place is very unique with a sense of tranquility. The view is amazing along the river bank with vantage points throughout. The food is superb. Dining at the OD is an experience in itself. Our room was lively with a full view of the river.

The rooms are designed with simplicity and tranquility in mind so it’s a matter of taste. The rooms can seem “cold” with no decor on walls, very few outlets, and the shower was on the small side.
