Lovely modernized country home with old world charm. We drove all day from the Alentejo region with plans to go to Porto that night but were tired of driving and decided to take a detour from our plans and found ourselves at Casa Valxisto. What a happy detour! I loved everything about this charming accommodation friendly, helpful staff, delicious meals, comfy suite, and a beautiful walk through the old stone village.

I liked absolutely everything about this property. The location and view from my room was stunning. The log burner in the room made it even more cosy and luxurious. The staff were friendly and so helpful. The food at dinner was exceptional, every course home made and delicious. 😋 I was only booked in for one night but I really didn’t want to leave after the super breakfast the next morning.

The room was very comfortable, with a good bed. Room was big with a nice private terrace in front. Big panoramic windows with stunning views over vineyards, and green hills- ending the day with spectacular sunset. We booked dinner at the hotel- you had choise of meat, fish or veggie main course. The appetiser the starter and dessert were the same for everybody. A very good and tasty dinner- and plenty of food. During the day there were self-service in the main area of the house, you could help yourself to drinks, icecreams, coffe, tea and you kept track of the number of drinks etc you had yourselves, and paid at the end of the stay.

I found the pillows a bit too lumpy , it was not easy to fluff them up. The breakfast that we had included in our stay presented itself nicely on a small board. But. If you are not into croissants,pancakes and cake for breakfast, it left you with a couple small slices of bread . Too little butter and jam and cheese and only one slice of ham and chorizo per person. ( not interesting if you are vegetarian) A quite disappointing breakfast for our taste with too much foodwaste.

Fantastic stay at Casa Valxiato. Highly relaxing, idyllic, wonderful location, and the staff are some of the best I've ever come across - friendly and helpful. ( I didn't get everyone's name, unfortunately, but Sara was lovely.) Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and dinner was extremely good value and very tasty with locally sourced products. A good choice of wine at a very reasonable price. The pool was lovely with the best views, and our room opened directly onto the pool with its very comfortable sun loungers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here for anyone needing to relax surrounded by nature. It was bliss.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Valxisto. The house and surroundings are absolutely stunning. Breakfast and dinner are both fantastic with fresh products. The rooms are impeccably clean. The whole staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and caring: we immediately felt home. They even sang for my daughter who became 18. We were here already some 9 years ago and I am pretty sure we will come back in the future.

Such a beautiful place! We loved our week here. The family room was perfect for the four of us, very comfortable and practical. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Good snack menu for lunch and excellent value 4 course dinners (pre book on the day, one meat or one fish option). We loved the pool, the ponds and frog spotting (so many baby frogs!), the goats and walking around the farm. Recommend a hire car to get around as it’s quite rural but only a short drive to the train station for the train into Porto itself. Loads to see and do in the area.

We loved the views, the pool and the tasty dinners. Everything was excelente, the staff went beyond to make our stay confortable. We went with our two year old toddler and they didn't mind the never ending washes, helped distract him when he was being "difficult", adjusted his meals to match his fussiness, they just made our stay pergect! Would go back on a heart beat. The massages are wonderful too.

Some of the evening meals went on for a bot too long.

The staff are amazing and so attentive! Lovely breakfast with many home made products, freshly squeezed juice, everything was delicious and just perfect. The room ( named Apple) was very comfortable and clean. Complimentary water and biscuits were a very nice touch. They warmed up the room prior to our arrival which was a very appreciated gesture. Beautiful view and I have to say again, the staff just make the absolute difference, everyone we encountered was helpful, smiley, polite, very welcoming and accommodating. We truly felt cared for and we are definitely going to recommend this place to our friends and for sure we will come back.

Wow what an amazing gem of a place. The food from the chef (Marianna I believe) was amazing and such great value for money too !

The property was very clean, the outdoor pool was clean and the property had a combination of nice relaxation areas at the reception, pool side and garden area. The host, Ann and the other staff were attentive and went above and beyond with the meals and information about things to do in the area.

It is in the suburbs, some people would like the peace and quiet but for us it was a bit far away from everything else ( we didn’t drive) but we could get to Porto by metro
