Beautiful grounds and staff were lovely. Breakfast was exceptional as were both the Terroire restaurant for lunch (we ate there twice!) and the Michelin restaurant for dinner. The interior design and grounds are another level - really well thought out! We made use of the boat charter which was a lovely touch.

There was a building wide issue with aircon and we had to ask for a fan (rather than one being offered to Us) - which was very much needed as I am 8 months pregnant. This appeared to be a known issue but not something they were proactively managing which was a bit strange. We had to get up to go and ask for service by the pool for drinks which I wouldn’t expect at a five star. I would have expected more complimentary items in the mini bar given the room rate. Our bath tub was lovely and deep but the handles were a bit lose so some maintenance wouldn’t go a miss.

I absolutely loved everything about my stay—from the cleanliness of the room to the attention to detail, the delicious food, the friendly and attentive staff, and the excellent facilities. I originally booked the Petit Room, but they kindly upgraded me to a better one, and it was perfect! The view was stunning, and the bed was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The spa was also fantastic, offering a truly relaxing experience. Plus, the hotel provides free parking, which was a great bonus. Highly recommend!

The hotel location is close enough to the town, but very peaceful right on the river. Pool & garden views are gorgeous. Bedrooms are modern, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The facilities and the spa are lovely. Breakfast was wonderful, the best options and variety we have enjoyed anywhere. The whole team go above and beyond to make your stay there even more enjoyable.

I booked four massages, and in my personal taste and experiences, those were not the best treatments I’ve received in terms of the technique performed, so I received two, and then I cancelled two. Though I believe this point can be very subjective.

This hotel wasn't just a place to stay, it was an experience. From the breathtaking design of the interiors to the iconic architecture of the building, it exudes elegance and sophistication. We loved curling up with a book by the cozy fireplace in the lounge, surrounded by a curated collection of reads. The breakfast buffet was a delightful surprise, offering a vast array of healthy options. The à la carte menu provided even more choices, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the vibrant green juices, the colorful fruit selection, the perfectly toasted sourdough with smoked salmon, and the fluffy cheese scramble eggs. And of course, no Portuguese breakfast is complete without a divine Pastel de nata and an espresso macchiato. The staff was exceptional. They were not only professional and efficient, but also genuinely friendly and helpful. They made us feel like valued guests, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The complimentary shuttle boat was a game-changer. We had a picturesque ride from the hotel to the central Port of Gaia, the perfect starting point for exploring Porto. The charming Smart car pick-up from the Sé was another unexpected treat. This exceptional service truly elevated our stay. ...And just when we thought things couldn't get any better, we entered the breathtaking spa. With luxurious facilities and distinct sections dedicated to Turkish baths and hammams, it was a haven of pure relaxation. We indulged in the soothing steam and heat, allowing our worries to melt away as we revealed in the spa's tranquility. If you're a runner or cyclist, you'll love exploring the scenic network of paths all the way to Gaia. Just ask the staff to show you how to leave the hotel from the back. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. It's a haven of luxury, charm, and exceptional service.

I would suggest that a towel radiator in the bathroom would be great so we don't have to ask for new towels everyday.

Very good breakfast, staff excellent, we were lucky with weather and be able to have it on the terrace, great views of Douro and immaculate gardens. Restaurant food and service were excellent. To visit a city like Porto but be able to stay in a location such as this was a great bonus, also to be able to take the hotels water taxi into Porto was amazing.

to be honest everything exceeded our expectations, but one thing I would say is do you really need to play music around pool and gardens.

It is a beautiful hotel and the interior design was really cool. I loved how relaxing it was and the setting next to the river was perfect. Hannah and Marta made our stays really special by going that extra mile. Marta got super friendly with our little boy and it was so lovely getting to know her.

The noise from the bedrooms on and evening is quite loud, we asked every night for them to turn the music down and they did without any hesitation….perhaps this could be something that’s looked at. Compared to the staff in the restaurants and by the pool, the staff on the reception are a little cold.

1st class in every way

The same songs on a loop for 4 days is crazy. Breakfast, pool time, bar, dinner and all over the property the same set of songs over and over again.

The property has a lovely view, Nice grounds. Well kept. Pool is very nice. Restaurants very good, Although only one was open for our stay.

Getting to the property is confusing and you really don’t want to leave the grounds. They offer a shuttle, via boat, to Porto, but you have to get back on your own.
