Our stay at Independente Comporta felt like discovering a music artist before they get famous. What I mean by this is - book this place before it becomes impossible. It is a gem. This luxurious retreat is located roughly midway between Comporta-proper and Grandola, a larger village in the region. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles from friendly staff, who checked us in speedily, assisted us with our bags, and ensured we were happy literally every minute spent on-site. Joao, Pedro and the younger woman from the region who worked reception were like old friends who gave us recommendations on things to do, took us on a golf-cart ride to explore the grounds, and hooked us up with Super 73 e-bikes to ride through some trails and look at the other villas. The resort is gorgeous with olive trees, native landscaping and serene pools. Visiting in November was nice, as we practically had the place to ourselves which made for a well-needed tranquil retreat mid-honeymoon. There is a spa on-site, which had a lovely couples massage, an event space for lounging, yoga on Wed, Sat and Sun, and a fantastic restaurant. The restaurant deserves its own section, as the food is delightful interpretations of classic Alentejan cuisine. Dinner was one of the best meals of our trip. Breakfast is equally fantastic with both a buffet and included elevated ala carte options. Fresh squeezed juices, creamy cheeses, freshly baked breads, what more do you need to hear. Book this place!!! Beautiful place in the middle of nowhere. Breakfast and staff were great.

The newly introduced suggested gratification/tip on every bill inside the facility. Whether you would order at the bar, restaurant or room service there was a 10% tip already included in the bill. It honestly looks very bad on the hotel.

Facilities are new, stylish and comfortable, private little houses with a small patio. Location is very quiet in the green. Breakfast is good with enough options (just coffee needs an upgrade)

We were quite disappointed by the staff: nice people but a bit unprepared, sometimes seemed confused. The pool is nice but not heated, so we could not use it in May. The gym is not existing, just an empty room. Breakfast does not vary from day to day, which became a bit boring since we stayed for over 5 days. Coffe is undrinkable, the machine is good but the staff does not know how to use it. Cleaning is okay but not exceptional (toiletries were not replaced daily). We were expecting more prepared staff and better services from the place. Nonetheless, we had a pleasant stay as the facilities are amazing and the location gorgeous.

Great room — very dark, which was perfect for a good night’s sleep thanks to the excellent blackout curtains. Delicious breakfast, super friendly staff, and a great location. The Wi-Fi was AMAZING! We had heard about mosquito issues in Comporta, but honestly, we didn’t have any trouble — we just used some repellent and a citronella band during dinner, and that was more than enough. *** the charging station for electric cars was a big plus 🥰

I really missed having a gym in the hotel!

The villa we rented had everything we could have needed, cutlery and plates, great bathrooms. We loved the rustic local decor. The pool was great too.

They whatsapped me before my stay to ask if I needed anything, I asked for an iron/steamer. I also told them that it was my friend’s birthday, they asked her name and gave me suggestions to buy a bottle of wine and cake to be in the villa when we arrived. I said cake was good but that we don’t drink alcohol. When we got to the room there was no iron, and on the table there was a cake, a bottle of wine and a note to say happy birthday… to me (not my friend) LOL.

Very picturesque location. Felt small and intimate. Rooms were a good size for a couple. Included breakfast was good, as well.

Issue with air conditioning in room and with the ceiling fan not working. We notified the front desk before we headed to dinner, but when we came back it seemed like someone turned on the heater in the room, as it was about 5 degrees warmer than when we left. Also, the ceiling fan still was not operating, but the remote for it had been removed from the room. Sort of strange.

We absolutely loved our stay at Independente Comporta. It’s a beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and villas dotted around the peaceful grounds. We had a two-bedroom villa that was perfect for a family of four, with an amazing private pool. Every detail had been thought of in the rooms, from the lovely products in the bathroom to the robes to wear by the pool. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious, and all of the staff we encountered were professional, knowledgeable and friendly, especially the receptionists. The local area is great, with a stunning beach around 15 minutes from the hotel and great restaurants both on the beach and in nearby Comporta village. We loved our stay at Independente Comporta and definitely hope to return!

The location was perfect: quiet and isolated, but close enough to the beach and the villa of Comporta. The rooms are very nicely decorated. And I bought one of the ponchos they have in the room as a sort of robe.

Breakfast could be better… I place great value and expectation in hotel breakfasts and this one was just ok. The presentation of the buffet part could be better, more plentiful. And they should serve the sourdough bread they have in the restaurant Maroto, where I had dinner the night before instead of the regular bread options. There was a menu of 5 different things you could order, like scrambled or fried eggs. The portions were very small. And one of the items, the sourdough bread with avocado paste and raw courgette made no sense to me as a combination. The bread was untoated and soggy.

I liked the food, complementary breakfast was nice, caesar salad poolside for lunch was the perfect size with wonderful anchovies. Had a fantastic cocktail and wine pairing with my dinner, muscle appetizer was a nice portion with an excellent broth, muscles were perfectly cooked. Had Alentejo black port with sweetheart cabbage for my main and it was excellent! SPA Feet in Sand service by Tim was heavenly, Wonderful, wonderful service! The front desk was extremely accommodating, Staff is lovely and my room was very nice size with an excellent bed and amenities in the bathroom.
