The Hotel Solaris is housed in a beautiful historic building in the heart of the historic district of Setubal. Most of the historic sites are a simple short walk away. The building is a nicely maintained example of Portuguese historic architecture. Reportedly, Napoleon lived there during his occupation of Setubal. I thought that the staff was great; friendly, helpful, and multilingual. The breakfast buffet was lovely and offered a surprisingly large number of high quality options, including the typical Portuguese breakfast pastries, but also more international selections such as fried and scrambled eggs,, breakfast meats, queshes, different cold cereal, fresh fruit salad,, and a cold case with a variety of sandwich fare. The interior of the hotel and the guest rooms are nicely restored in a simple modern style in character. It offers all of the modern features such as wifi, television in the rooms, and a small desk. I really like Hotel Solaris. I had a nice stay and would stay there again.

If there is a shortfall to the Hotel Solaris, like many older hotels, there is very minimal sound isolation between the rooms such that the sound of someone showering or guests talking loudly in a nearby room can be louder than ideal.

I really liked the location – very convenient. The room was small, but actually much better than it looked in the pictures. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff were super nice, and the lady at reception gave us some very helpful recommendations that made our stay even better. Breakfast was okay – nothing special – but the pastry was excellent!

The only issue was parking: the hotel’s parking area is very small, and there were no free spots when we arrived. But I ended up using the paid parking just across the street, and it turned out to be a great decision.

Central location. Friendly staff. Extremely clean. Good breakfast. Basic hotel with no frills that was great as a base to explore. Room 112 was a generous size with a great front view. Good nights sleep as comfy bed and quiet hotel. Good hot shower daily, no issues.

We were happy with everything but the basic hotel facilities would not be ideal if you could not go out due to bad weather. No hotel evening meal available but nice places close by. Ideal for us and we will re visit.

Fantastic location, walking distance to restaurant, waterfront , fish market, supermarket and more. Really helpful friendly, warm and caring staff, they even reverse our car when it was parked in a tight space in front of the hotel. Room was spacious, very clean, comfortable bed, good air conditioning unit. Breakfast was very decent, we liked the freshly made fruit salad and good selection of bread. Very relaxed ambience.

Hot water took sometime to arrive, but water pressure was great.

Great place with great service, great breakfast and great location. I cant think of a single thing with the hotel that was not up to par or beyond. super helpful staff and lovely rooms.

There is no parking available on site and the closed parking is about 500m away. Not the end of the world unless you have older family like we do and its raining :(. But the public paid parking is fine and cheap so no biggie. The only real set back.

This hotel is a real gem in Setúbal! Perfect location - right by two big streets, safe, many bus stops around, walking distance to most of attractions (old town, promenade), many cafes and restaurants around. 24h reception, lift. Lovely room with balcony, very comfortable bed, big tv, small fridge, very nice bathroom with bath tub which can be used as shower. Rooms cleaned every day, fresh towels. Delicious breakfasts, especially bakeries. Amazing staff - very helpful and always smiling 🙂 Definitely I'll be back!

Lovely small hotel in perfect location to reach beaches, restaurants and shops in Setubal. Room was bright and airy and bed was very comfortable. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Parking outside hotel was limited but we found a free alternative only a few minutes away. Good breakfast selection. Wished we were staying more than one night

Little tricky to find when driving as Google maps is not accurate for this.

The property offered the little extra’s like dressing gowns and slippers that I was not expecting for the price. Route in particular, was so warm and welcoming, she really made the experience lovely.

Perfectly clean and serviceable, however I prefer a step in shower, rather than over the bath.

A very good location in old town Setubal. Very friendly welcome, even though we arrived ahead of schedule. Lovely room with natural light and windows. The hotel is spotless and obviously a very very well run operation. Excellent staff. Secure storage for bicycles.
