The location is great. Right in the heart of the town. Walking distance to the Bus Stand, Big Temple and the Palace. Many places to eat. The front desk staff were very welcoming and the cleaning staff were very friendly.

I have a severe food allergy, I informed the hotel of this but the restaurant staff were not very helpful in providing me with options. The first day they told me a dish didn’t contain nuts, but it did in fact contain cashews. When I asked for an egg option, like an omelette or fried egg, I was told no by the wait staff because it was vegetarian despite there being milk, yogurt, butter, cream and other dairy products on offer. Eating toast everyday without any protein was not good. I think it would be more helpful to be more accommodating to people dietary restriction and to not impose personal or religious beliefs onto the guests with food allergies and restrictions.

Very ideal location - very close to Brihdeeshwara temple, the palace, the main market, restaurants, bus stand and the places of veena making, tanjore painting making, bronze artefacts making and doll making. The breakfast was full variety of local, ethnic- fresh and tasted excellent- very delicious. And so were other meals too. Room Service was prompt. The room, linen, bathroom were very clean

No tourist information was available. They could, in no way, help in recommending the tourist places or deciding the itinerary for new tourists like us. Driver's accomodation was pathetic. That wasn't improved despite our request. The driver had to sleep in the car in sweltering heat. The tea bags provided in the rooms were without outer jacket, giving rise to health safety concerns.

Lovely stay at Hotel Gnanam. Room was at the back of the Hotel so nice and quiet and comfortable if a little dated. They are currently renovating the rooms so that will change soon. Excellent location so we could walk to both the palace and the Big Temple. Staff were all very pleasant. Big thank you to the restaurant staff where we enjoyed some great vegetarian meals and some lovely conversations. Also thanks to the reception staff for organising a day trip to the Kumbakonam and our onward travel to Puducherry.

The room is very nice and comfortable. Air-conditioning works well. Morning breakfast was a bomb. We enjoyed all the chutney in the property (corriander, coconut and spicy). Special mention on their kaara chutney where the Vadai goes well with it. We had a happy tummy. About the location, I think this property is the best choice and it is nearest to the Thanjavur Brihadeshwarar Temple.

Excellent location near to the big temple but still quiet at night (road noise during the day). The staff were extremely helpful and arranged me a tourist car for a day at short notice. The room was large and well appointed including with kettle and tea/coffee and hot water in the shower. Newspaper delivered every morning. The breakfast was excellent with a large selection of Indian dishes, fruit, cereal and toast. The restaurant was good and I ate there for lunch also and it had very nice south indian thali. Overall this is an excellent mid range business type hotel frequented by families and tourists that offers great value for money.

Nothing. Rooms are a little noisy due to the road outside but it was quiet at night.

The rooms are very spacious, Right across the main Bus station and the Railway station Tanjavur. The Brihadeshwara temple is walking distance(~ 1,5km). The oldest restaurant is also walking distance away- It s prime location. Food is amazing, the breakfast with the local dishes and the taste of vegetables is just spot on.

Just the prices are a little expensive, Room rents are understandable, but the food and the amenity price could be reduced

- The room with king-sized bed looks very royal, big, and clean, totally worth the price. - bed was very comfortable - location is very nice, right in the city , near to big temple

- nothing much. Just a suggestion that the tiny bottles of shampoo and soap can be replaced with a big refill bottle for each room as it’s more environmental friendly. Also, the small bottle is not enough for 2 people.

great spread for breakfast. Good service. Morning newspaper delivered to the room was an unexpected bonus! Great location. Very close to the bus stand and the Big temple. The staff were very courteous. There was a locker in the room for keeping the valuables. There was also a mini fridge. A pretty spacious room. High class hotel.

Bathroom was a bit smelly. Smell was coming from the ventilator window. Shower cap box was there but there was no shower cap!

Comfortable and very clean. Generous breakfast - both Indian and European... chocolate cereal and cold milk were a surprise treat! Staff are very helpful. Room service is a nice surprise, and food is good quality, especially chicken Tikka. It is a nice place to retreat from the busy streets.

We only stayed in Thanjavur for one night but staying here provided a great base from which to explore some of the key attractions, including the Brihadisvara Temple. The staff were kind and attentive and we really appreciated their help arranging a taxi to our next destination. The on-site restaurant serves delicious food at fair prices (we particualrly enjoyed the breakfast and the vegetarian banana leaf lunch).
