the star gazing, observatory deck on the roof is very attractive. the buffet dinner and breakfast were sumptuous . The environment around the hotel is nice, along the river. And I like the room with western beds, big living room, big bathroom, separate shower room. there are private hot spring rooms too.

This large ryokan checks all of the boxes. It’s very affordable compared to the other ryokans there. The Japanese room includes two great beds, an attached toilet and was very quiet between the rooms. The flowing river sounds are not too loud when the windows are closed. A non-smoking room is truly smoke free for the whole floor. The location is minutes walking to the local shops. The breakfast and dinner selection was great for the price. Any reviewers that do not like this ryokan are forgetting how low the cost is compared to nearby hotels. We want to come back!

The onsen water temperature was too hot even for my hot onsen loving wife.

To put it right; this was the best place we could have chosen. It's an amazing hotel, just above the river, the room had river view, was traditionally furnished and we had everything we could have wished for. The onsens were also amazing, many different baths to choose from, changing between female and male areas depending on the time of day. The dinner buffet was just mindblowing, so much choice and one thing was better than the other. We could have dined forever. Some references mention that it's a place with lots of tourists. Well, when we were there, we were the only non-asian people, at least I've not seen anyone else. Maybe there are tourists from other Asian countries, but also in the onsen, we were always the only obvious foreigners. Also the staff was extremely friendly and professional. Thank you so much for the unforgettable stay.

Firstly, the service was great! They came out to greet us and helped us with our bags and parking. Secondly, the room was fantastic - right next to the stream! love the never-ending ambient music that really made the place so peaceful and calm. I would totally stay here for weeks if not for the reality of money. Thirdly the buffet dinner was great too. Lots of options and an open bar. The entire onsen town was also quaint and cute. 10/10 would recommend.

Newly renovated and tastefully refurbished. Possible to enjoy a variety of baths and it never felt crowded. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The buffet system is supposed to be a good idea for people with dietary restrictions since it's usually difficult to find hotels which can accommodate, but it'd be great if some more meatless options could be added, although it's understood that most people are there to enjoy the very impressive sashimi and sushi menu.

It was just the best I’ve ever had. 1. Great onsen 2. Just amazing buffet dinner and buffet breakfast with a vast choice 3. At night on the rooftop stargazing in just unforgettable 4. Great service. Not a lot of staff speak English, but n4 Japanese was enough for effective communication. Each morning staff provides info of timetables of other onsens.that’s very convenient. 5. Free shuttle service Totally recommend

Good location with only 5mins walk from bus stop, down slope so still fine even with luggages; frontdesk staff very friendly with good knowledge of surrounding area; spacious room with comfortable bed and rest area; buffet dinner and breakfast also nice with variety of choices, even fine for vegetarians; last but not least, very proactive drive out service to bus stop on the next day

Like the area, surrounded by mountain and river. Onsen facility was really good and have private insen. Dinner and breakfast was great and authentic items. Good experience to try Japanese style food

The dinner and breakfast were fabulous. The free flow of beer was a good offer too although I didn't drink much. Several onsen were available in the hotel. Good to dip in and destress. Overall, nothing to complain about the hotel. Wonderful.
