Everything was great! The location, the activities, the people were all amazing. You really felt like they went out of their way to help you and to make sure you had a good time. I would for sure recommend the bull shark diving and the night snorkel. Amazing to do. The dorm was also super nice to stay in! Very roomy. You also get your own storage place for all your stuff.

It is weird they the meal package price is not included in the room price as you have to pay it anyway. Also for that price I would expect non-alcoholic drinks to be included. Only thing included is food and water. There are also sometimes uncertainties about how much something costs such as the drinks and massages. Please advertise better what is included and what is not. And for the things that are not how much they cost. Because right now it feels a bit dodgy.

The people. Forget the material bricks and mortar, it’s the people you go to Kuata for. Stay long enough and you’re all family. This wasn’t our first visit and it won’t be our last. Also, the shark dive is a great experience and the snorkelling is amazing. The night snorkel is recommended. Food is buffet style and there is always more than you can eat! Bures are comfortable and watching the sunrise off your porch is incredible. Sami, Vace, Ako, Josh, Illy, Tema, Chef Paul - all the Kuata family - Vinaka very much 😂 We miss you guy, Peg, Muzz, Stu, Nat, Ames, K xxx

There’s a million things we could say as recommendations for improvement but it isn’t about all those things. You are on an Island in the Pacific Ocean surrounded by a family of people who only want you to enjoy your time and take away memories. If you want an authentic experience, you’ll love it. If you want a hotel experience, you won’t!

I left my heart in this place. One of most human, intense and amazing experiences of my whole life. I miss everyone… I will be back! If you wanna visit the south part of the Yasawa island, this is the place to stay. This is not a resort, it’s your Fijian family.

-They should be more clear about having to pay for the meals when you do a booking. -There are no snacks between lunch and dinner.

You cannot buy the kind of nature thrills and wonderment & genuine fondness and bonhomie from your hosts that Barefoot Kuata has so much of. If that’s your brand of luxury, this place is *chef kiss* unmissable. They have normal luxury too, the Siga bure beachfront safari tent was unexpectedly comfortable and fresh, though I ended up spending most of my time (when out of the water) lounging in the restful and pretty spaces closer to HQ. A couple of things set it apart. 1) It’s a research station for several PhDs doing field work on shark behavior and interactions with reef health, as well as coral-planting on the house reef. 2) This operation is in partnership with the community across the way who own both islands and the reef, and mind the Marine Protected Area. It really comes through in the welcome and care you get from the staff. Highly recommend the bull shark dive, reef shark snorkel, night snorkel and coral planting. The marine life was ridiculous – just in the house reef, never mind the shark dive… You’ll have a permanent mask groove on your face. Walking up to the lookouts for sunrise/set and stargazing was the icing on the cake. They’ve really nailed it on landing at the junction of luxe comforts, natural wonders and capturing the Fijians' hospitality superpowers. The place felt sooo good on so many levels. If you're looking for next-level peace and relaxation, do it.

The one area I thought they could do more with what they have was the food, but maybe it’s a Fiji thing – I wasn’t massively impressed with the Coral Coast Shangri-La or Intercontinental’s offerings either. It was all fine, just pretty normcore – though a few of the fish dishes stood out.

This island is such a paradise on earth. Spending time 3 days 2 nights and everything went so well. The dorm is ok and the bathroom is always keep cleaning most of the time. All staffs are so friendly and very helpful in every ways. Thank you for your hard work :)

The food is ok but you have to pay like a package 3 meals per day which is understandable but a bit too pricy.

Our second visit to this island, and we had a wonderful stay. Staff were so welcoming, food was fantastic and we were so pleased with the support from the dive centre and activities. I despise water, but went snorkelling with reef sharks, and the team made me feel safe and supported, i am truly so grateful!!! My husband enjoyed his dives as always 😄 Our room was fab, and we were very happy with this. They are extending to accommodate day trippers and house guests harmoniously and were so apologetic if there was any noise coming from the work being done (we had a very end bungalow near this area). It was completely unnecessary as we were not fazed, but it was so wonderful of the staff to keep checking with us. They really are so kind and attentive! Staff were also brilliant helping us book our transfers before we'd even arrived in Fiji. The only thing we would have liked (and its only small) is an umberella provided in the bures themselves, especially for rainy season.. we got quite wet trying to get back and forth to the restaurant, but I guess you could also say we should have packed more appropriately for the season! We would recommend for anyone to stay here, you won't be disappointed.

We stayed here with our 3 year old daughter in one of the beachfront sigur bures for 4 night. We had such a fabulous time, both me and my husband cried when we had the goodbye songs as we were leaving. The island is beautiful, the offshore snorkelling amazing and the staff were so incredibly warm and welcoming. Thank you to Wendy, Solo, Semi, Elli (illy?), and all the staff and especially to chef extraordinaire Tima who made the most delicious meals for me catering to my food allergies. We weren’t the easiest guests having to eat early for our 3 year olds early bedtime and me having food allergies but she was so helpful and kind. We hope to come back some day.

Our bure was 26 which was quite a walk from the restaurant and pool area. No biggie unless you have a walking adverse toddler and my husband and I did our backs in lugging 20 kilos on our hip. The resort could consider a beach buggy thing for those with little ones. They were doing some building or renovations behind our bure so daytime rest was out of the question with the drilling noise. They really need to do something about their pools. They were very cloudy/murky. I wouldn’t have gone in but you try and tell a 3 year old they can’t when you’ve promised them for months about the pool lol

Every interaction at this property was based in the legendary Island hospitality. I have dietary restrictions. They prepared an individually talored meal for me even on buffet nights. I was recovering from a recent ankle surgery. Four members of their dive team assembled to provide me a fin and life vest combination. The snorkelling was the most successful of my life. The water crystaline, the reefs healthy with gentle leadership from the dive team. These are not luxury accommodations but they are clean and well maintained with reefs accessible from 2 of the 3 beaches. If your goal is to experience the ecosystem this is your place.

Be prepared to largely disconnect from the world, and enjoy it.

Kuata is a stunning island with a huge amount of on land and in water activities. There is a hike you can head out on, a back beach to visit and the restaurant / bar area was a lovely place to sit down and relax. The food and the F&B staff were absolutely amazing... I don't think I went hungry once while staying on island and drink service was incredibly fast. Everyone was so welcoming & lovely - we'd definitely visit again. It really feels like the island care about the surrounding reef, marine life and villages. the shark snorkel was absolutely incredible.

Unfortunately our shower was cold 95% of the time. we figured out if you shower at approx 8pm you'll get some hot water, but the remainder of the day was cold (raised this on island and they said it had something to do with the water pressure) - not the end of the world on a tropical island, just something to keep in mind. The Bures can be quite loud even though sold as private, they all back onto the main walking path to all dorm accommodation - late night drunk guests stumbling past at midnight woke us up and guests / staff watching loud videos or taking calls, sat on sunloungers out the front of our bure at 545am got us up before sunrise.

Our stay at Barefoot Kuata Resort was truly unforgettable. The island is breathtaking and feels like paradise. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, perfect for slowing down and reconnecting with nature. The staff were amazing – so warm and helpful, and they really made us feel at home. The food was tasty and varied, and we enjoyed sharing meals with other guests in the open-air dining area. We loved the snorkeling trips, especially the shark snorkel – such a thrilling and well-organized experience! There are also great hiking trails and plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the view. Overall, Barefoot Kuata is a magical place and we’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the Yasawas!

If I had to mention one small improvement, it would be to add a personal reading light for each bed in the shared dorms. It would be helpful for those who want to read or get ready without turning on the main light and disturbing others.
