2 nights in a beachfront bure! • Check-in process: As the boat came in, they welcomed us with a song! Was smooth, our room wasnt ready on arrival, but checked in us in early and gave us an alternate room until our room was ready! • Decent breaky, lunch and dinner. Music entertainment during dinner and very happy staff! They can accommodate dietary needs - e.g. vegetarian/vegan etc. if you prior request/ask. • Communication: Very friendly and helpful staff.. although you need to be quite direct with any questions/queries you have and clearly ask for the solution, and follow up if needed.. as it's very chill Island life ;) • Cleanliness: clean and well-kept rooms and general areas • Amenities: Wi-Fi only worked in common areas, not in rooms. Great pool, chillout seating, sunbeds and dining areas, bar on site (doesn't open too late though!) • Location: Beautiful location on Malolo Island, didnt explore surrounding areas as was a short stay • Comfort: Comfy bed, good shower, nice pleasant and private bure with little beachfront seating area out front • Good value for money Would defo stay again.

My partner and I stayed at Funky Fish primarily so I could surf and she could relax and snorkel. The value for money and location is excellent for a chill, rustic, reasonably priced place to stay with all meals included on a nice semi-isolated beach. The staff are excellent, very friendly and accomodating and even hosted us and other guests for an impromptu Kava ceremony with a bunch of locals too. For surfing its ideal and has boats that will take you 20mins to the reef breaks such as Cloudbreak, Restaurants, Nomotu lefts, swimming pools etc. The snorkelling / reef life nearby is amazing too. I would highly recommend for people wanting more budget, friendly and convenient place to stay as opposed to a fancy resort.

Funky Fish has been everything I needed it to be and more all at a great price. I nearly didn't stay here because of some of the negative reviews. I have to say my experience has been nothing but positive. The staff consistently offer you chilled drinking water, I guess if you feel you NEED bottled water it will cost you, but the water is safe to drink so that's a choice for the individual. The food is consistently good, salads are offered daily so it's not all protein and carbs. The beer is reasonably priced. I ate at Musket Cove and paid F$23 for a lunch that was just as good as the lunch here that comes included in your bill. The staff are friendly and helpful. I think any negative comments about the manager, unless they changed staff, are unwarranted. I witnessed them with a difficult and damanding guest and they handled them politely. The bure's are basic but all anyone needs, good flyscreens, a little fridge in each room. Amazing location. The surfers all come in happy every day after having the opportunity to find the best waves from a selection of world class breaks. I've noticed that most hotels in Fiji sit around the 6 to 7 rating here on booking.com, except the expensive resorts, and I can't help but think a number of travellers don't understand that Fiji is not Hawaii. Fiji time is a thing, you need to keep your plans loose, lose any sense of entitlement and enjoy the pace.

Built up into a hill and forest therefore lots lots lots of insects of all kind, in the rooms as well. Bring insect repellent!

Super friendly staff and great community atmosphere. Yummy plainish food. Local style. Nice walk up the hill and around the rocks.

Not too much to do i(except lie by the pool) you’re not going out on a boat to surf or snorkel. There was a strong southerly for a couple of days that was noisy.

very cute little bungalows. Max was an amazing host, very friendly and seemed to do everything there.

Not good that you have to pay to leave. only way off the island is with Malolo cat ferry from muscat cove, but they charge you fjd 25 per person to get there, only a 5 minute ride and should be part of the package not an extra cost.

Awesine staff, the permise was clean and pleasant. Beautiful place, located in the middle of nature and it was well maintained.

The only way to get to the hotel is using their transfer and we were not told about that after the booking. Also, it should be included since you have no other option.

Rustic and lovely location for a surfing getaway. Staff were great and arranged daily surfing excursions. Hike was also brilliant. Cabins were basic but clean and very comfortable.

I enjoyed the food but there was limited selection so a picky eater might struggle.

Poor information of prices & activities available from surrounding resorts.Would have been good if they had more things available to hire at the resort eg..(surf boards ,flippers.

Beautiful location, overlooking the ocean. Perfect size, great vibe - all the amenities but not too commercialized. Good food, bar, wifi in common area. Rooms are cute and good size.

When going surfing make sure to do your research. Boat guides are at very different levels of experience with surf breaks and will drop you wherever whenever even when risky.
