I’ve been travelling for 6 months and it’s nice to finally have had a little place that felt like I was at home. Tại Lo and all of the staff are so kind and welcoming. It feels like you’re part of the family from the minute you arrive. I haven’t felt this as much on any other islands here. I learned so much about the family and Fijian traditions and life here. The food was always varied and plentiful. There are a mix of activities to do and for the most part you can do them whenever you want during the day. The accommodation is basic but it is all that’s needed, it’s clean and everything is close together. Tai Lo even arranged for some staff to drop things to me on another island which I had left behind. Moce & Vinaka
Maybe more equipment/ upgrades. Some snorkels were a little broken and there was a volleyball net but no ball.

It has certainly been the best experience of our trip to Fiji. A relaxed, simple, calm and friendly atmosphere. A resort with basic needs covered and the opportunity to enjoy the real life of the Islands. Taylo and the entire team were incredible at all times, making us feel at home. The food is varied, delicious and plentiful. We feel lucky to have enjoyed our vacation at Waya Lailai Eco Heaven.

I have been fortunate enough to travel the world for over 20 years, but I have never experienced a welcome as warm and genuine as the one I received here. From the moment we arrived, the entire team made us feel like family. Every person was so kind, attentive, and always ready to help—not in a pushy way, but with a quiet, thoughtful presence that made us feel truly at home. There was no pressure to buy anything or do anything we didn’t want to; they were simply there for us, whenever we needed them. What truly stood out was the sense of connection and authenticity. It wasn’t just about being guests in a resort—it was about becoming part of a community. We spent hours chatting, laughing, and learning about each other’s cultures. Everything felt natural, and we became more than just visitors—we became friends. Our kids felt completely embraced by the local people. They roamed freely around the resort, playing and interacting with the community, which gave us the true Fijian experience we were hoping for. The genuine warmth and acceptance we felt here are something we will cherish forever. I have to mention the unforgettable moment when they sang us a goodbye song. It was the first time in my life I almost cried when leaving a place, not because of the departure itself, but because of the beautiful people who had made our stay so special. You could tell that their kindness was not just part of their job, but a reflection of who they truly are. They made us feel so valued, never once making us feel like we were asking for too much. My dear Fijian friends, you truly exceeded all our expectations. We would come back in a heartbeat if we didn’t live so far away. But as they say, “never say never.” My son, Filip, already said that when he grows up, he will bring his family back to this paradise. Thank you again for giving us 5 unforgettable days. We miss you already. Ema, Filip, Tomaz & Petra

Everything was perfect - from the musical welcome, to afternoon tea, the staff, the food, the snorkelling. Just The BEST! We loved it here - after travelling for 7 months across the world, this is our most favourite stay. The people here ensured this is a 10/10 location. Lovely large bungalow, sea view, hammocks on the beach, free beach snorkelling. We paid to snorkel with reef sharks - you have to experience this. The food had great variety and was very tasty - you will not go hungry. There was a very friendly communal area for eating, socialising, Kava, reading and watching rugby! THANK YOU to all the staff - Tailo, Nasau, Nathani, Emily and everyone.

Wayalailai Eco Haven is a community enterprise owned by locals; my buddy recommended it, and we booked it. It is completely worth it, and you can really enjoy the aquatic life at this resort. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are served daily at 8 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 15:00 p.m., and 19:00 p.m. Villagers will strike a drum to invite everyone to come. (They also allowed me to beat it hehe). The meal is delicious, and they offer vegetarian options. I went snorkeling with reef sharks and took a community and school tour. They also provide scuba diving to observe bull sharks, fishing, and trekking. The fee for a bure lodging is reasonable, however meals on the island are somewhat expensive. We also tried Kava with the locals, and they sing songs for all tourists every day. There is a gentleman on the island named Joshua who is extremely creative at constructing hats, baskets, and fans out of coconut leaves. All of the villagers are incredibly polite and caring! Thank you very much: Tai lo, Mossi, Saki, Nathan, Abby, and Andy.... This place makes you feel at home. If you're lucky, you might spot a white tip shark while snorkeling along the coast! I spotted one, while my companion saw three. She also noticed sea cucumbers, urchins, nematodes, and squid. The room is clean, with no bed bugs. But be wary of the mosquitoes. I will come back only to see the villagers!
This nice place should advertise themselves more and let people know them!

Waya Lailai is such a special place! TaiLo and the entire team generously share their culture and beautiful island home to provide an amazing, genuine Fijian experience. The reef snorkelling and sunset hike were fantastic, and the school visit was also brilliant led by Vorte who gave us a wonderful tour of his village. The Waya Lailai team are so warm and welcoming and constantly went above and beyond to provide a positive experience, sharing beautiful live music, volleyball, beach bonfire, weaving with our kids, dance, cultural sessions etc. Also fantastic selection of fresh buffet food inc. catering for gluten free. The team know how to have fun and enjoy life and offer their guests every opportunity to do so also, whilst simultaneously operating an excellent, professionally run accommodation with everything you could need. Definitely the highlight of our kids' experience of Fiji. We really didn’t want to leave!
Perfect as is!

We had a very good time! The community is so nice here. Shout-out to TaiLo, Nathan and Josua plus the housekeepers were great. The reef here is beautiful, please help protect it by not touching the coral (it dies after touch). This island feels so safe and really has the Fiji feel with an active community
Avoid swimming at low tide! Otherwise you will step on the coral. I would recommend Waya does a little more to help protect the reef. Maybe signs that show the best area to swim to avoid coral/ and low tide times, and definitely avoid putting anchors on coral. The reef is so beautiful, make sure it stays alive!

Waya Lailai Eco Haven is a magical place! I’m struggling to find the right words but as soon we arrived, we felt so welcomed & at home. There’s such a nice community feel to the place. The rooms are basic but comfortable & super clean. We never got wifi in the room but occasionally in the communal space but honestly this wasn’t an issue at all and if anything, forced us to embrace the experience more (which is a good thing!) there’s a good variety of food & we never went hungry! There are lots of activities which are all great value for money (some free) but you can also just chill in the hammocks on the beach if you prefer. Bring your trainers for the sunset hike - it’s 100% worth it!

This was our favourite place we stayed in Fiji! Tailo and her staff sincerely want to you to have a good time and connect with Fijian culture. They were always present to help us without being overbearing. They even invited us to attend a kava ceremony for the visiting deputy prime minister! The music during meal times was beautiful and the food was very good with lots of options and healthy dishes with fresh fruits and veggies. Meals were always served on time (not the case at the other places we stayed!) The snorkeling just on the beach and the hike were also highlights of our stay in Fiji! And if you dive, there is a PADI shop right there with reasonable prices. We were sincerely sad to leave, we actually all cried at the beautiful farewell song that was played for us.
The facilities are suffering from age and there were a few issues with running water while we were there. The staff are trying to get funds for capital improvements so hopefully that will happen soon! The lack of drinking water is also not ideal, very limited bottled water is provided and the rest has to be purchased so until there is a filtration system available it could be advisable to bring your own bottled water from Nadi. There was also some confusion about our departure date because of a lag in information from booking.com so wise to confirm your dates via messaging.

DON'T THINK TWICE - BOOK NOW FOR ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES OF YOUR LIFE! I can honestly say this was one of the best travel experiences my wife and I have ever had. Going into it, we didn't quite know what to expect, but from the moment you arrive you're greeted by STUNNING, other-worldly views and some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. It's almost like being at a tropical summer camp! We stayed in a bure and found it very comfortable and spacious. Every day you're provided with 3 incredible, homemade, buffet-style meals at 8am, noon and 7pm (plus tea time around 3pm). You can also purchase water, drinks and snacks. Throughout the day you can swim in the 87 degree water, snorkel, relax in a hammock, play soccer/volleyball or just hang out at the central common area and chat with the staff and guests from all over the world. Waya Lailai also provides incredible daily activities for a small fee - guided sunrise/sunset hike (INCREDIBLE VIEWS), snorkeling with reef sharks, visiting the local school and village, fishing (your catch might be used for dinner!), and a medicine walk. But the thing that truly makes Waya Lailai special is the people. TaiLo and her staff make you feel like family. They are warm, kind, gracious and funny! We miss them already and will definitely be coming back in the future. If you are questioning whether or not to stay here, don't! Book it! You won't regret it! **If you want to see more of Waya Lailai, I'm working on creating a Youtube video that should be live in the next couple of weeks. You can watch at: Youtube.com/JacksonMeyer
Keep in mind that this is not a high-end, luxury resort. Electricity is limited to nighttime hours and WIFI is spotty, but that is also what makes the experience so special. You get a chance to slow down, relax and connect with the people around you. There is little to no air conditioning, so if you prefer to spend time indoors, this is probably not the right place for your vacation.
