- Exceptional location directly on the fjord, with rooms opening to a peaceful waterfront area and amazing views of surrounding mountains - Situated between Geirangerfjord and Trollstigen - both accessible within about a 1 hour drive. Going to Geirangerfjord requires a quick ferry crossing. Also, there is a scenic mountain farm called Herdalssetra within 1 hour drive. - Quiet hotel area, yet right next to a small town with a supermarket, gas station, and cafes. 3 min walking distance. - Simple, but modern, tastefully designed interior - Good breakfast - Friendly and welcoming staff - This town is known for growing strawberries, which you can buy right from the nearby fields. At least during July. We visited for one day for our wedding anniversary and really liked the place. I would say it’s one of the best value for money hotels I have ever booked.

- There are no large cities or airports nearby, so you can only reach the hotel if you travel by car. But this is a great base for a short stay while exploring the fjords region by car. It’s particularly in between Geirangerfjord and Trollstigen (both require 1 hour drive). - Weather in this region of Norway can be unpredictable (e.g. rain), so choose your travel dates carefully (though obviously this is not a reflection on the hotel itself)

Location of the Hotel is exceptional. I was actually looking for a hotel at Geirengar but none was available so had to settle for this one (on 1.25 hour drive+ferry). But I actually was later thankful for it, as this place+hotel potentially was the best possible option for a calm peaceful stay, with access to beautiful surroundings and daily drives. I covered Geirengar, The Atlantic Road, and Trollstigen on daily trips with using this hotel as my center station for a relaxing on a comfy evening. Breakfast and staff was very good and humble.

There are 2 points that i think could have further enhaced my experience. 1. My booking said Sea View room, but the view from my room was actually mountains and not sea (Room 128). I still enjoyed it and it still helped me relax as much, but it was just different from what i expected. 2. As it was a bit warm to sit in direct sunshine at breakfast, i still wanted to have my breakfast outdoor in the lawn. The umbrellas or covered options to sit out door were limited, and were not usually available, which would have made breakfasts even more pleasent. So a bit more covered options outdoor would have been great!

Fantastic location, right on the edge of the water.. Very clean and comfortable. Great food (especially the oven-baked trout!). Good range of food for breakfast. Lots of places to sit out (though, sadly, the weather wasn't great while we were there). Staff friendly, particularly Jennifer (reception) and Rakula (breakfast).

Being told there was building work going on the day before we arrived! To be fair, it didn't impact on our stay at all (our room was at the back, overlooking the water, not the road). One female member of staff who was very friendly throughout dinner service lost interest and eye contact the moment we pressed the button on payment and gratuity!!

Staff were friendly and helpful, giving useful advice and genuinely warm. The food was excellent. Liked the lounge area which was quiet, peaceful with a lovely view. I liked that we could help ourselves to tea/coffee. We were able to park the motorbike outside. There was a laundry room and we were able to wash and dry our clothes ourselves which was great.

Sadly the boat tour wasn’t available because of the cruise ship that had come in nearby and the weather was a bit wild - neither of which was the hotels fault! I wasn’t so keen on the corporate style photo pictures on the wall. I’d have liked to see some paintings or more variety at least. I’m nit picking now though! No issues - everything was great.

We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our time. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent, with a stunning view that made our stay even more special. We also had the chance to rent the sauna room for a while, which was such a relaxing experience. Everything was well taken care of, and we felt truly at ease during our stay. A special thanks to Florin at the reception, who was very friendly and helpful and made our stay even nicer. Overall, a wonderful experience — highly recommended, and we would be happy to come back! P.S. I would love to have the recipe for the delicious fish soup I enjoyed last night.

Everything was wonderful

Valldal Fjord Hotel offers an exceptional experience with its stunning location, providing breathtaking views of the fjord. The staff is highly experienced and attentive, ensuring that guests feel welcomed and well taken care of. One of the highlights is the high-quality breakfast, featuring a delicious selection that sets the perfect tone for the day. Conveniently located just about 50 minutes by car from Geiranger, it's an ideal base for exploring the region. Overall, Valldal Fjord Hotel is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a beautiful setting.

The location was excellent. It was just steps to the fjord and each room had a little patio you could sit in to enjoy the view. The hotel had a fire pit you could enjoy on the main lawn, and there was a sauna you could rent right on the property (though not run by the hotel). The breakfast had lots of options even for gluten free diets. There was a laundry room we discovered during our stay which was a huge plus.

The shower was awkward because of the folding glass panels you had to navigate to get into it. This isn't terribly unusual for Scandinavia though.

Absolutely first class, fantastic experience beautiful hotel made even better by the attention to detail in the rooms and the amazing staff, oh of course the location speaks for itself wow wow wow plus the breakfast and dinner was excellent. I have to also say the website pictures do not give this hotel justice. Special mention to Agnes for all your help, excellent service and tips and advice for where my daughter and I could visit.

You cannot fault this hotel, staff or food. First class.

Nice room with your own terrace and a fjord view - it doesn't get much better than this! Friendly staff and a great breakfast complete the experience. The hotel itself is slightly upmarket. The location is ideal halfway between Trollstigen and Geiranger.

The only issue is actually the downside of the location: The hotel restaurant has a nice menu, but it did not suit us that day. On the other hand there was nothing else open near by in the evening.
