It's an older hotel but grand; and an amazing location. I had one of the rooms with a view and I couldn't believe how beautiful the view was. The lobby was such a nice place to sit and have a tea or drink in and watch the cars and buses go by the hairpin turns. Watching the sun go down on the fjord was spectacular. The walk down and back to the village gave you fabulous views of the hotel looking back on my way down, and getting closer on my way back up. It's like an old Victorian (but don't think it's that old) kind of hotel; with a formal dining room which had a delicious dinner.

There wasn't any elevator, which is fine, but it was hard for me getting my suitcase up from my car to the floor I was on. But not terrible, but for someone who is older, they'd need help. Rooms are dated but the location and grandness of the hotel in other ways meant I didn't care about that.

The view from the hotel is gorgeous! The rooms are well-appointed and the bedding was super comfortable. We enjoyed the hotel's historic character yet modern comforts. It's also near some wonderful hikes, making those easy to access.

The hotel did not provide a shuttle from the harbor to the hotel. We were with our 82-year-old parent who could not walk from the harbor to the hotel (it's 3.6 km on a narrow, busy road with no sidewalk), and there are very few taxis. In future, it'd be helpful if a shuttle van could be provided.

Excellent breakfast and stunning views from the lounge and terraces. Friendly staff. Nice book about Geiranger in the room.

Would have liked a room on the side of the hotel with a view. The bathroom was small in our room and was quite old fashioned and the adjoining door allowed sound through from the next room. I think we were expecting a more luxury experience given the price, and didn’t appreciate the age and history of the hotel.

Lovely older hotel overlooking Geiranger Fjord far in the distance. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a room with a view of the fjord, but ours was very nice of the rear garden. The hotel sits within feet of the road which is very busy with cars, motorcycles and tour buses, but that wasn't a problem. We slept well in the sumptuous beds. The bathroom was nice, though small. No elevator, and we were on the top floor. Though we didn't have a room with a direct view, there was a small covered balcony at the end of the hall that had a view. Direclty across the road was an observation deck as well. We had dinner and it was sumptuous. Very well prepared and served on fine linen and china. Breakfast was a feast of a buffet. Overall, this was an excellent hotel and it was actually quite nice to NOT be staying closer to the fjord where it was all crowded.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as nice as possible. Unfortunately, I had damage to my car just prior to arriving (the damage did not happen at the hotel). I did not have a working phone in Norway so asked Per, a hotel staff, if I could borrow his phone. Not only did he let me use his phone, he took care of talking with the rental car agent and was able to get us help with the car as soon as possible. Both Per, and Jelle (another hotel staff) continued to make sure we had everything we needed to be as comfortable as possible while at the hotel. I would like to mention those two gentlemen specifically to the owners of the hotel, they were wonderful! Per was able to find us a room to check in prior to our arranged check in time. All of the staff that we encountered were professional, kind, and thoughtful. I highly recommend this hotel. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and had many options. This was a perfect respite from a busy travel day.

We loved our stay at Hotel Utsiken. The room was beautifully styled and comfortable . It had the best view in the world. It was absolutely incredible. We enjoyed the lounge and the breakfast. The service and staff were warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Grand hotel. Thank you.

The bathroom was quite tight but beautifully renovated. More hooks and a small shelf would help.

Staff were very nice and friendly Breakfast was very good I had dinner in the restaurant of the hotel and it was good but a bit expensive. Parking is free and the view is superb from the lobby and the terrace!!! I was upgraded to a room with view and it was amazing.

Location is a bit far from the centre.

Wonderful, helpful staff who even upgraded our room to a larger room which had a comfy couch area, huge bed, and coffee machine. Breakfast was fantastic and everything was very clean. Parking close by at the front of hotel.

Could hear the people stomping around in the floor above us. Dinner was very expensive (but it was yummy though).

We loved our stay here. Per - the Manager was excellent, polite and helped us with our bags. We had a fjord view room, which we named "the window of dreams". The view of the exquisite Geiranger fjord was magnificent and well away from the crowds in the town below. A delightful, unique experience - thank you.

The view alone makes this hotel one to visit, added to that the staff were absolutely brilliant. We ate in the resturant which was fantastic too. if you can manage to book a room with the view of the fjord then do so, it's worth the extra.

This is a old hotel and has old hotel room size and fittings..... They do feel ready for a refresh. Have said that the positives for me vastly overwhelm any downsides I mentioned.
