The staff were welcoming & superb - & also found me gluten free options for dinner & breakfast ( Nice eggs Benedict as they had no fruit or yoghurts). The chef is v.good & the dinner was delicious. I recommend the French red wine ! There is ample parking. We had a comfy bed, a kettle provided & a bathroom with a bath, which is lovely after a long journey.

The hotel is geared for weddings & events, so the decor’s a bit ‘elegant’ for my taste ( & everything painted the fashionable grey ) & the restaurant was full & quite noisy …but then the food’s so good it’s not surprising. The room faced a surprisingly busy road, but the noise was not disturbing.

beautiful old building that's been decorated with a modern industrial look.booked very last minute and was very pleased with our pick.good parking,handy location for m62. welcomed warmly and taken to our room.the room was warm and cosy. tea tray complete with teapot and refreshments. very comfortable bed . plenty of towels and toiletries.we ate at the restaurant and enjoyed the experience. the food choice is varied and not overpriced and was good.we didn't book breakfast but went down and had coffee and lighter breakfast. lovely experience throughout.

I will be honest and say nothing for me.

Food menu was a really good choice.staff were very friendly.The cleaner even made me a hot lemon and honey drink for my cough without me asking.so kind with even a sweet to suck.above and beyond with service.we had a meal deal included in bed and breakfast price which was excellent value.

The sourdough toast was hardly coloured so quite soggy under scrambled eggs and it was served with proper salmon rather than smoked salmon.very busy on a Sunday night you need to book a table.we sat in the bar and the stools were difficult toclimb onto.

Everything about The Malthouse from check in to check out was excellent. The evening Meal & Full English Breakfast the next morning was delicious. Top quality ingredients & presented nicely. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Bedroom was lovely and toasty warm as they had added an extra heater. We turned it off and we were warm enough anyway. The views from the front bedroom window is a vista of fields and trees. There is a fairly busy main road in front but it didn’t stop us sleeping. If you’re a light sleeper I’d ask for a room away from the road. The Staff are all very helpful and attentive, they were very busy but did everything with a smile. The gentleman serving at Breakfast was very friendly and we had a nice little chat. He said the Owners were nice people & good to work for. I think this comes across in the way the staff are. We stayed once before and I recognised some of the staff. We really enjoyed our little treat away. We will definitely return & I have already spread the word about this gem of a country pub with accommodation. 😁

I liked everything. One little thing I would have to dig deep to mention it was the lovely quirky doors in the Ladies toilets need a touch of paint on the inside near the lock as both are very scratched. It seemed to stand out to me against everything else being spot on that’s all x

Room was beautiful. Very clean.Staff very very friendly, nothing too much trouble.

Disappointed with both evening meals.First night we stayed we had steak and ale pie,mashed potatoes and greens.The mashed potatoes were cold.Second night of our stay I had fish and chips,unfortunately the batterwas hard as were the chips.My husband had scampi and chips.The scampi was hard and he had to leave his chips as he couldn't get a fork through them.However the breakfasts were lovely

the location was great, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, making conversation during our stay. the rooms were more than big enough and the king size bed in room 3 was huge. the food served was really good and i would say good value too.

everything was great for us although the staircase to the room may be a little difficult for somebody unsteady on their feet

Parking on site, breakfast very good, selection of evening meals very good, nice bar to relax and chat. Staff were all really helpful and friendly.

You need transport to make the most of your stay. Location is on an A road between Halifax and Oldham/Rochdale, close to Saddleworth so travelling to & fro is very scenic in Summer, but a bit hairy on a wet, foggy winters night. The period features and blended decor set a good ambiance, but the bedroom we had felt a bit dated, especially the en-suite shower room. No lift and bedrooms are 2 floors up narrow stairs,

Great staff, all extremely friendly and professional (very fast service and it was really busy). Made a real fuss of our dog too, much to his delight! A beautiful cozy pub with excellent food, a real treat in the winter drizzle. The views are stunning so I'd think it's even better the rest of the year. Really nicely furnished room too.

Nothing but perhaps a bigger door mat by the back door?

Good room with comfortable bed and nice view. Nice meal in the evening and good cooked breakfast.

More options (eg fruit and yogurt) at breakfast would have been nice. Restaurant was nice but would have been nice if there was a cosier, more casual area for drinks.

This pub was great for our mini break to get some chill time. The evening meal was really good , great service with minimal waiting time even though the place was pretty busy , the breakfast was equally good with plenty of options and set us up for the day ahead.

apart from one resident giant spider which crawled over my wife whilst in bed !!!!!! there was nothing to complain about and we shall return in the future no doubt
