From before we even arrived, Sekia Wagaya hotel was extremely responsive and not only received and stored our luggage ahead of our check in time but also organised our luggae transfer to our next hotel in Tokyo. The staff’s warmth and professionalism made us feel right at home. The room itself was a delightful blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern comfort. I particularly appreciated the tatami area, which provided a cozy spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. The kitchenette was well-equipped and the private bathroom offered all the amenities we needed. One of the highlights was the hotel’s location. Situated in a quieter part of Kyoto, it provided a peaceful retreat while still being within easy reach of major attractions like Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Additionally, a large grocery store and a Starbucks nearby were convenient for quick snacks or a change of scenery.   Overall, Sekia Wagaya Hotel offers exceptional value for money. Whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or as a couple, it’s a wonderful base to explore Kyoto.

Nice located, quiet area and quiet room.

The beds are extremely hard! We’re not overexaggerating. The futon mattresses on the floor are even softer. We asked the staff if we could get 2 extra futon to lay on top of the beds but they did not understand us unfortunately. The room is also too small for 5 people, no space to leave your luggage. It’s actually a room for 2 people where they just put 3 extra mattresses on the floor in the living area. The kitchen is nice but not well equipped. So overall it was a nice stay but things can be improved!

How welcoming and friendly the hotel team were especially Gorgeous Aya and Rie whom went the extra mile in true Japanese style to help 💜 I highly recommend this hotel great location bus stop literally outside the door making it so easy to travel round Kyoto, supermarket and seven eleven across the road. The rooftop is fabulous too what a view loved it an all round excellent from me thanks so much till next time 💕

Nothing at all, it was great.

The room was extremely cosy and authentic, very big as well. Mattress was super comfortable and pillows were memory foam, they were amazing. I checked out too early and the reception wasn’t open yet, so I left my luggage in my room and they were so accommodating, they just kept my luggage downstairs when they opened, I appreciate this immensely.

Nothing to dislike

This is a small hotel where we booked a family room that had one Western room with large single beds, and a tatami mat room which we did not use. But the space was great. The location is not in the centre, but there was a bus stop outside that connected directly to the central station in 20 minutes and some of the main temples, and also took you to several train/ metro lines that reached everywhere easily. There are washing machines and microwaves. Across the road is an excellent supermarket and general stores. The hotel is beautifully designed, and highly recommended.

There was a basic kitchen in the room, but it would have helped to have a microwave instead of having to go to the ground floor and carry hot food back. The staff we encountered are very helpful but have only basic English. Also don't rely on there being people in reception to answer questions as they are not always on duty.

100% recommended My stay at Sekiya Wagaya could not have been better. I extended for several nights because of the comfortable stay and very sweet reception by the hotel staff. The facilities, comfort, and wonderfully welcoming staff were by far the very best that I experienced in my time in Japan. Every small detail in the room is looked after and properly cared for. The WiFi and coin-operated laundry are both perfect for those who will need to work, and the professional attentiveness of the staff is both first-rate and perfectly hospitable. The location of the hotel, which is in a very quiet and safe neighborhood packed with minimarts, a huge organic supermarket, and an architecturally gorgeous Starbucks, could not be better. Public transport directly to the historic center is just outside the hotel’s doors.

Staff was friendly and helpful, and the family suite was very large for one person, and very affordable.

Beds were pretty hard for those used to Western mattresses. I was in a suite at the back of the hotel on the second floor, which had very little daylight so was quite dark. The location of the hotel is in the dead center of Kyoto which means that while the supermarket across the street is very convenient, there is very little else going on in the neighbourhood, and it'll take a few busrides to get anywhere lively.

Lovely helpful staff. Big rooms with wide beds. Table and chairs, big picture window, small kitchenette with fridge, hotplate, kettle and sink. Microwave and washer/dryer available. Dining area available downstairs. Elevator Good, clean bathrooms Opposite a huge supermarket Lovely staff who went out of their way to offer us alternative room

Loxation was safe etc but about 15 min bus ride into train station where everything was happening. This was fine for us but others may want to be closer to action

Traditional style, enough space to open up your luggage. The internet speed is sufficient, I got a reliable 200Mbit synchronously. That is very good for a japanese hotel.

A bit far from the railway or subway. There are buses but I don't take those. The LED lights in the room were falling off, but it's not really important.
